Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Too Much Information

’Then what happened to my body on earth?’

[I’m just a system, how would I know, but it’s probably gone, you shouldn’t worry about it, instead you should focus on the possibilities]

’Possibilities... How about the possibility of getting out of this? Sure, I like a fantasy world... But not this one, what happens if I get killed?’

[You die]

’So basically I’m fucked.’

Aiden pulled a chair close to him and sat down. The prince’s breathing had already returned to normal, and the dark purple veins had completely disappeared. For now, the prince’s life was no longer in danger.

That should have been enough to put his mind at ease, at least for now, but another problem had arisen; he wasn’t in a game world anymore, and everything that had happened was real, meaning if he had gotten killed earlier, he would have died, like a real death.

’Alright... you said you could explain everything. Start talking,’ Aiden said inwardly.

[Very well. First, the world of Aria is real; this isn’t the game you believe it to be. Rather, the game was created using information from this world]

Aiden reeled back in surprise, "What does that even mean?’

[With the advancement of technology, humans on Earth discovered a mysterious dimension known as the Drive. It exists between countless worlds and contains fragments of information from them. It’s impossible to access for now, but the Drive produces crystals]

[Earth’s gaming companies collect those crystals and turn the information into games; that was the reason a neural link was possible in the first place. To people on Earth, they’re simply fantasy worlds made for entertainment]

[In reality, those worlds already exist, somewhere and someplace in time]

Aiden sat there quietly, trying to process everything. Now it was even more confusing. ’You’re telling me... Empire Wars wasn’t created by humans?’

[The game was... The world wasn’t, and the VR headset contained parts of the crystal fragments, so anyone could be moved, and when a human was moved, no one remembered them; it’s like they never existed]

Aiden rubbed his forehead, ’No... that doesn’t make any sense. Then why me? Why did the Goddess bring me here?’

[I don’t know. I thought you spoke with the goddess, I’m only a system. I wasn’t designed to know the goddess’s plans]

Aiden let out a long sigh before asking another question. He still hadn’t come to peace with the fact that he had been reincarnated, and there was no way back.

’Then what about the glitch? Why is the system messed up?’

[I don’t completely understand it, but my best guess is that your body somehow rejected the transfer. Normally, when a person is moved, the goddess responsible grants them a system, for you, that’s the Divine Lust System]

[But I think something went wrong, and the gaming system stayed with you, creating the Divine Healing System]

’Something went wrong?’

[I told you, I don’t know... I know the system isn’t stable, but I have no way to solve the problem since it’s the first of its kind, with both systems running, both are attempting to be your primary system]

Aiden stared blankly at the floating screen, ’So both systems are currently fighting over my body, and that’s causing the errors and glitches?’

[Correct]

’I saw a pop-up about merging, but it failed. Can they be merged?’

[It’s impossible, both are Divine Authorities, and none of them can be removed, but that’s not the actual problem, the glitch also caused something else, since you have two systems, both of them can pop up at any time]

’Meaning?’

[Your lust system can decide to pop up when you need to heal someone, so you won’t be able to cast any spells or use any passive skills of your Divine Healing System]

Aiden covered his face with both hands, ’So you mean to tell me, I can be called to heal someone, like the prince just now, I won’t be able to because the lust system has taken over at that particular time?’

[That’s the gist of it... But I can move something around and force a change, but that would lead to more instability, and too much of it would cause both systems to fail... Killing you in the process]

The system muttered the last sentence.

’Force a change that would lead to my death? How unstable is the system? Is there a way to check?’

[System Instability: 51%]

***

While Aiden was having a mid-fantasy crisis, the Queen was getting restless outside the room. She continued walking up and down the hallway, stopping every few seconds.

The Crown Prince was her second child and currently the only male heir to the throne. If anything happened to him, not only would she lose her son, but the kingdom itself would be thrown into chaos.

The king was a little too old to try for another male son, so the nobles would begin fighting over succession, and with the kingdom already under attack, it would only make matters worse.

The three priestesses stood quietly behind her with their heads lowered. None of them dared to speak.

They had exhausted almost all of their holy magic trying to keep the prince alive, inadvertently increasing the spread of the poison, and now everything rested on the shoulders of the only surviving male priest.
