Chapter 126: So you are a Sex Demon, huh...

"So, what are you?"

Evelyn directly asked the most difficult question and Lucian froze. She looked straight into his eyes, waiting for an answer and from the look on her face, it was clear she won’t stop unless the answer satisfied her.

An answer that would explain everything Lucian did before.

Jumping from one building to another while carrying her, moving at an impossible speed, then jumping in the air, so high that she felt like she was on a helicopter, then landing on the ground with an impact so strong that the ground cracked, moving as if his legs were injured, then moving like the injury was healed, breaking three walls with a light touch—

Everything.

She needed an answer that covered every single thing and Lucian—

"I am a human who mistakenly drank Incubus Blood."

He answered honestly.

"Incubus Blood huh..."

Evelyn muttered as she started thinking, as if searching through her memories.

"Are those..."

"Sex demons, yes."

Lucian nodded.

"Are they really called Sex Demons?"

"Well, the official name is Demons of Desire, but meh, we all know what that is, no? No point in sugarcoating. It’s like saying ’we need some space’ in a relationship, I mean come on, we all know it’s a breakup."

Evelyn laughed out loud at those words, most of her tension eased away with that one line.

"So you are a Sex Demon, huh..."

She spoke as she looked at Lucian with a strange shine in her eyes. Lucian looked back at her, then he raised his finger, as if stopping her.

"I changed my mind, let’s call it Demon of Desire. I think some sugarcoating is acceptable."

Evelyn laughed again, her eyes however, never left Lucian.

"Also, I am a human."

Lucian clarified.

"I only drank Incubus Blood, I didn’t become one."

"You didn’t seem human back then."

"Well, I am not a normal human."

He shrugged.

"Normal humans huh..."

Evelyn repeated those words.

Then, she laughed lightly again.

"Well, that is right, you are anything but normal."

"That hurts, you know?"

Evelyn shook her head, then, as she thought about it a little more, she asked another question—

"What about the others?"

She was mostly with Lucian, so she didn’t see them in action but she did see their reaction, she saw how they reacted when those werewolves appeared.

She wasn’t foolish enough to believe others were normal and Lucian didn’t hide it either.

"They aren’t normal either."

"Did they drink Incubus or some other demon’s blood as well?"

"Well... not exactly."

Lucian shook his head.

"They all have their own reasons behind their strength."

Evelyn continued to stare at him, waiting for a little better explanation, Lucian however, shook his head.

"I’d tell you more but honestly, I am quite new to this as well, so while I know it is hard to believe, I truly don’t know a lot."

He answered honestly and Evelyn—

"I believe you."

She smiled.

Lucian looked at her, a little surprised and Evelyn kept her smile and lowered her head.

"When you came, I half expected you to lie to me.

I was expecting something like the werewolves were some secret experiments that went wrong, or maybe something like, I was hallucinating most of it because of how shocked I was. I was expecting you to make me doubt myself, to gaslight me into believing how absurd my own story was and honestly—

In the state I am in, I might have believed that."

Evelyn then looked at him again.

"But you didn’t lie to me.

You didn’t try to prove me wrong or crazy and I...

I am grateful for that.

I am grateful that you answered everything honestly and yes, I do believe that you are not lying to me.

I have... one more question."

"Anything."

"Why did you not lie to me?"

Evelyn questioned and Lucian—

When she asked that question, he looked into her eyes and—

"Because I wouldn’t want to be lied to if I were in your position."

Again, he answered honestly.

Evelyn smiled at that.

Lucian, however, wasn’t done.

"Though I do hope you do not ask more questions."

"Why is that?"

"The more you stay away from this world, the better."

"Is it because..."

"It is not safe.

You saw that yourself."

Evelyn did not deny that. She just looked at Lucian and then...

"Is this why you said it’s complicated?"

"What?"

Lucian frowned, Evelyn however, didn’t back down.

Not now.

"Is this why you said it’s complicated when I asked you out?"

Lucian’s expression changed at those words and that reaction was more than enough for Evelyn to get her answer.

"You didn’t want anything because you didn’t want me to be involved with whatever you are involved in."

"..."

Lucian remained silent.

What was he even supposed to say?

And Evelyn—

She suddenly leaned forward, then, she looked right into his eyes and—

"Lucian, if you haven’t noticed.

I am already in danger, being involved with you doesn’t change anything."

"You don’t understand."

Lucian shook his head.

"Then make me understand."

"You said you wouldn’t ask more questions."

"I never said that."

"..."

Lucian turned silent and Evelyn—

"Explain to me how being involved with you puts me in more danger than I already am?"

She asked and from the look in her eyes, it was clear she wasn’t going to stop asking until she had an answer.

"I have... enemies..."

"I have them too."

Evelyn didn’t back down.

"And mine currently seem more active than yours."

"Evelyn, you don’t understand."

Lucian called out.

"We caught the enemy today."

"So I won’t get attacked again? Does that mean I would no longer need Voss Security?"

"I am trying to say that we caught the attackers whoever’s after you sent and it is highly likely they know his identity.

Once we learn that, we can take direct action.

It will be over then.

You will be free from this world.

You will be safe."

Lucian spoke convincingly, looking right into her eyes.

"Getting close to me would put you in danger again and I...

I wouldn’t be able to protect you."
