Chapter 198: Chapter 198 The Woman Ryan Brought Home
Rose didn’t know much about this medical institution.
As Caleb had said, it had only recently opened and had yet to establish a strong reputation or influence. Compared to Angel Hospital, it fell far behind in both prestige and promotional impact.
Even if they were willing to invest in equipment, their domestic influence remained limited.
Ryan helping Samantha secure a partnership with Angel Hospital was already the best resource available.
Rose glanced at the business card. "It really is just a token gesture."
It wasn’t that the institution itself was bad.
It was simply that, compared to Angel Hospital, it seemed insignificant.
"What do you think?" Caleb asked.
Rose sat down, picked up the business card, and lightly flicked it with her finger.
"Since my ex-husband wants to play the good guy, I might as well accept whatever resources he’s willing to offer. I’m not relying on him to survive, but I do want money."
She wanted a lot of money.
She also wanted power.
She wanted to gradually build her own fortress until she no longer had to fear the Knight family’s influence.
Until Ariel could one day stand proudly in the spotlight.
Caleb was momentarily stunned.
Then he smiled. "You’ve grown up."
The most important lesson adulthood teaches is how to weigh the pros and cons.
Rose immediately began making contacts.
Several of G.S.’s potential partners had already been taken away. If she failed to seize this opportunity, delays would negatively impact the entire project.
She had to consider the bigger picture.
To Rose’s surprise, the institution was indeed willing to invest heavily.
Moreover, they greatly appreciated her fully integrated proprietary technology and the tumor surgery robot, which possessed some of the strongest patent protections in the field.
They signed the contract on the spot.
Once the product officially launched, they agreed to pre-order fifteen units.
As soon as Rose finished the negotiations and walked downstairs, she immediately called Caleb.
Caleb was stunned. "Fifteen units?"
Even a large tertiary hospital would normally purchase no more than five high-precision surgical robots.
After all, the price was extremely high.
The world’s top foreign models often cost more than one hundred million dollars, while existing domestic products generally sold for around sixteen million.
Rose’s robot represented a major technological breakthrough developed domestically. Its technical performance was comparable to the world’s leading systems, and because it was independently developed, its price had been set at approximately twenty-five million dollars.
This was significantly more expensive than most existing domestic products.
However, she was benchmarking against the world’s top technology.
Because of the price, the initial market launch was expected to be challenging.
Yet this institution had directly ordered fifteen units.
That was truly astonishing.
"Their exact words were, ’We’ll deploy five units at our New York facility, and the remaining units will be sent to our headquarters hospital. We’ve already opened our overseas market as well.’"
Rose’s cheeks flushed slightly.
She couldn’t help feeling excited.
What an incredible surprise.
Fifteen units.
The size of the order was enormous.
And the headquarters hospital of this institution turned out to be the internationally renowned medical center that had always operated with an unusual degree of secrecy.
"I knew this organization had some influence, but I never imagined it was this powerful. They’ve kept such a low profile since entering the domestic market that it’s almost impossible to discover their true capabilities."
Caleb sighed. "Even Ryan misjudged them."
After all, few people would bother investigating a relatively unknown institution.
Ryan certainly wouldn’t have.
Rose was in an excellent mood.
After ending the call, she crossed the street and entered a dessert shop to buy herself a small cake.
Today was worth celebrating.
However, as soon as she walked inside, she spotted a familiar people not far at the table near the window.
Ryan and Samantha were sitting together on a sofa, while Oliver sat across from them. The three of them were chatting happily.
Rose simply looked away.
She selected her cake, paid, and left without a second glance.
As if she hadn’t seen them at all.
Samantha noticed Rose.
She took a sip of her latte. "I bet Rose is feeling pretty upset right now, still thinking about what happened at Angel."
Ryan didn’t even raise his head.
He continued scrolling through the tablet in his hands.
Oliver tilted his head. "If she’d secured the Angel deal, it would’ve been a major accomplishment at G.S. and would have raised her status considerably. But now the opportunity belongs to you, and you’ve already signed three procedures with Angel. Of course she’s frustrated. Besides, Ryan just gave her some random institution to appease her. It’s practically like she’s picking up your leftovers."
Samantha couldn’t help smiling. "G.S. does have some influence."
It simply had nothing to do with Rose.
As for that institution—
She hadn’t even bothered remembering its name.
It was too insignificant.
Small organizations counted every penny. There was no guarantee they would even purchase one of G.S.’s robots.
"Ryan, what’s the name of that institution?" Oliver asked.
Ryan continued reading the news on his tablet, his expression unreadable.
"I didn’t pay attention."
Samantha laughed softly. "Ryan meets countless people every day and attends so many social functions. He can’t possibly remember every business card he receives. Since he happened to have that one, he simply gave it to Rose."
Oliver thought about it and nodded.
It made sense.
After all, Samantha’s partnership with Angel Hospital couldn’t be affected.
*****
The agreement with the institution had already been finalized.
Rose no longer needed to worry about Peace Hospital.
They would handle the individual contracts later.
While driving back to G.S., Rose stopped at a traffic light and happened to notice a large advertisement playing on the giant screen across the street.
It was promoting Samantha’s project.
The advertisement even featured Samantha herself.
Samantha had already become something of a celebrity doctor, frequently appearing in the media. Now that her project was gaining momentum, her popularity continued to rise.
By celebrity standards, Samantha had truly become successful.
Praise was pouring in from every direction.
She had even been hailed as a genius in intelligent medical therapy.
Yet behind all of that praise and glory stood Ryan’s quiet support.
Samantha was surrounded by love.
Rose watched the screen for a brief moment.
Then she calmly looked away and drove through the intersection.
It was the weekend.
Rose had planned to spend time with Ariel.
Instead, she received a call from the Knight family’s estate.
It was Margaret’s landline number.
Rose stared at the screen for several seconds before answering.
Margaret still held leverage over her.
Rose, come home today. It’s our annual family memorial gathering. Everyone will be there to honor the generations that built the Knight family. Please come back and join us."
Margaret’s voice remained affectionate, yet it allowed no room for refusal.
Rose glanced at the date.
In previous years, this had always been one of the Knight family’s most important events, and she would usually arrive early to help with preparations.
This year, she had completely forgotten.
That was why Margaret had personally called her.
Rose weighed the situation carefully.
In truth, she should go.
She wanted to go.
And ideally, she wanted to bring the divorce papers back with her.
Perhaps this was the right opportunity.
"Okay," Rose agreed.
Margaret hung up the phone, satisfied.
Rose wasn’t in a hurry to leave.
The day would inevitably involve numerous formalities, and the Knight family required every family member to attend unless there were special circumstances.
But she had long stopped considering herself the Knight family’s daughter-in-law.
She saw no reason to rush over and involve herself.
She took her time getting ready.
Rose didn’t leave until the afternoon.
Prominent families had always attached great importance to these occasions, believing they reflected the family’s dignity and reputation.
Servants moved busily throughout the estate, attending to every detail.
Rose walked inside.
Margaret immediately waved to her.
"You’re back. Come sit with Grandma for a while."
Rose was just about to walk over when a servant announced from behind her, "Mr. Knight has returned... and Miss Hill is with him."
Rose’s heart suddenly tightened.
She turned around.
Ryan and Samantha walked into the room side by side.
Rose’s expression changed slightly.
On a day like this...
What did it mean for Ryan to bring Samantha to the Knight family estate?
