There were no strange rumors at all...

If a creature like a tentacle monster appeared on campus, it would surely cause a stir. When the perverted ghost An An was haunting the teaching building at night, even that sparked ghost rumors on the forums, and the school tried hiring “experts” to exorcise her.

Although, in the end, the ghost ended up becoming a counselor, and the exorcism was a complete joke, at least it showed that the students and faculty were aware of the strange happenings.

But this time, things were completely calm.

“In the book, I set it up in one line: tentacle monsters are evil beings from another world, possessing ordinary humans.”

Ning Chu was poking at a beef ball in her bowl, explaining to Wen Yang, who was sitting beside her.

“As for the magical girl... her name is Qian Qian. Red hair, A-cup, twin tails, and her battle outfit is... well, pretty revealing.”

“You sure put a lot of effort into naming her.”

“Be grateful I didn’t name her Yangyang or Wenwen!” She shot Wen Yang a glare before continuing, “But after class, I felt like someone was watching me. I think it was her.”

Wen Yang took a sip of soup and asked, “Why would she be watching you?”

“Maybe she’s actually looking for you? After all, you’re the main character.”

He shrugged, “Didn’t you say this part doesn’t include me? Maybe you accidentally took her umbrella?”

Ning Chu paused, glancing at the folding umbrella on the table, and realized, “How could that be? She’s not even in our class. This umbrella probably belongs to Shaoqing or Wang Jie.”

“True. Then why’s she acting so strange?”

“I have no idea... It’s such a headache~”

With a gloomy look, Ning Chu pushed her spicy hot pot bowl toward Wen Yang. “I can’t eat anymore.”

“You barely ate a few bites.”

“I’m too annoyed. I don’t have any appetite.”

Wen Yang pushed the bowl back in front of her, encouraging her, “Eating is more important than anything else. If anything happens, I’ll handle it. Otherwise, what am I here for? Don’t worry.”

“It’s not that... It’s just too spicy. I only ordered mild, but this is way too much for me!”

“... ”

Not knowing the full situation, they could only wait for now.

Perhaps she could try talking to Qian Qian herself?

Ning Chu pondered whether she should approach the magical girl across the hall tonight.

But from what she’d seen, that girl didn’t seem very friendly; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been stalking Ning Chu.

Seriously?! Instead of fighting a tentacle monster, a magical girl was stalking a harmless succubus like her!

“After lunch, library or back to change socks?”

“Library... The socks are probably dry by now anyway, so changing won’t do much good.”

Ning Chu muttered with resignation, but then she felt a gaze on her again and quickly turned around, only to see a small black cat staring at her with innocent eyes.

She noticed a tuft of white fur in the middle of its forehead—it was Qian Qian’s cat.

“She doesn’t even keep her cat inside... Is she not worried it’ll get lost?”

She muttered, “Maybe it sneaked out? Wen Yang, should we catch it and take it back? It might earn us some points with the magical girl.”

If she ever encountered the tentacle monster, maybe Qian Qian could even save her.

“Doesn’t look like it snuck out. Are you still hungry? Want anything else?”

“Bubble tea...”

After spending so much time with Lily and Yan Xinya, Ning Chu had also started to enjoy bubble tea.

She used to prefer soda, though she couldn’t say which was healthier... But when it comes to drinking bubble tea or soda, health isn’t really the point, is it?

With a warm cup of tea in hand, her hands felt much cozier, and she and Wen Yang made their way to the library in the teaching building.

As soon as they entered, Ning Chu spotted Lily.

This “disgrace to succubi” was always diligent with her studies, visiting the library at least once every few days, though she usually roamed around the tightly packed bookshelves.

“Lily~” Ning Chu jogged over, peeking at the book in Lily’s hand. “What are you reading now?”

“A reference.”

Lily calmly closed the book, casually covering the cover with her sleeve.

“A reference?”

But Ning Chu caught a quick glimpse and thought the language in the book seemed oddly similar to her own spicy stories...

“Let me see?”

“It’s boring.”

“Oh, come on, I’m curious~”

Lily lifted her head, noticing Ning Chu’s curious wide eyes. For once, a faint blush appeared on her usually stoic face. She glanced around nervously before eyeing Wen Yang, who had wandered into the bookshelf aisles.

“Hmm?”

She tugged Ning Chu to sit down, pulled her chair close, and the secretive look on her face only piqued Ning Chu’s curiosity further.

“What is it?”

Finally, Lily opened the book, covering the front of it with her hand as though shielding a precious treasure, and whispered excitedly, “It’s a smut novella!”

“???”

A blush spread over Lily’s face, and her words tumbled out with unusual enthusiasm for her, “I discovered last semester that the library has loads of them hidden here!”

“I searched all over and found so many. This is my eighth one!”

No wonder you’re always roaming the bookshelves! So this whole time, you were on the hunt for smutty novellas?!

And here I thought you were just an incredibly diligent student!

Ning Chu stared blankly at the book’s bold phrases, and a mix of emotions surged within her—embarrassment, curiosity, excitement...

Reading a smutty novella with another succubus in a quiet, public place like the library had its own thrill!

No wonder so many adult comics set scenes in libraries.

Ning Chu leaned in close, their heads almost touching as she whispered, “Is it good?”

“It’s amazing!”

“Wow~”

Wen Yang, holding a book, took a seat across from them, watching the two girls with their heads close together, occasionally letting out exclamations and whispering who knows what.

“What are you reading?”

Ning Chu ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) quickly looked up, glancing warily at him, and gave a half-hearted answer.

“A reference.”

“And you actually understand it?”

“Of course I do!”

Ning Chu responded confidently.

For a succubus, wouldn’t a smut novella be considered “reference material”?

Wen Yang scratched his head, a bit confused, but seeing Ning Chu and Lily engrossed in their reading and quietly discussing, he felt a bit pleased.

Usually, even if Ning Chu came to the library with him, she’d be busy on her phone or even sleeping on the table.

It seemed having a diligent friend really could inspire a bit of studiousness. No matter how often he urged Ning Chu to study seriously, she’d only find it annoying.

“Well, keep reading, then.”

“I know!”

Ning Chu replied absentmindedly, then leaned down to whisper to Lily, “Don’t come to the library at night anymore; I’ll go with you at noon.”

“You mean because of that pervert you scared Xinya with?”

“I wasn’t lying! There really is a pervert! Don’t take it lightly!”

She tried hinting at the issue to Lily, but on second thought, this girl seemed quite into Cthulhu-like tentacle aesthetics and even had various tentacle-themed toys...

Would Lily actually be thrilled to hear about this?
