Chapter 294: An aunt from prison.

A week after her fake miscarriage, Sienna went back to work. Her first day back had not been very stressful. The people she saw were very calm and respectful, looking at her with sympathy and rushing through their issues, to give her time to rest. News of her miscarriage had spread further than she imagined. The entire empire had heard about it.

Of course, the royal family was the one that spread it, but they made sure not to tie it to themselves. So, Sienna was on the receiving end of pity from every eye that looked her way.

Sienna was closing up her office this evening, thinking of what she would be having for dinner now that she had successfully lost another twenty pounds. She was down to a medium now--a chubby medium. In her opinion, it was cute chubby.

She wanted to have her first cheat meal, but she couldn’t decide on what to choose.

"I have decided," Mija announced, flicking her forked tongue like punctuation, "I am going to ambush Wayo tomorrow. I will trick him into a date by pretending that I am in danger. I know his schedule, I have my people watching him. When we are at dinner, I will seduce him. If he doesn’t bite, I will lock him in my bedroom for a few weeks until he comes around. I refuse to believe that there is a man in this world I cannot have. Our love story will be romantic and inspiring."

Sienna turned to her friend, "That’s not romance, that’s stalking," she said flatly. "You are one hiss away from being the cautionary tale mothers tell their cubs."

Mija rolled her eyes. "Sienna, please. Stalking is just enthusiastic courtship with better planning."

Sienna groaned. "You are talking about kidnapping a man! You are going to end up in a docket before a judge as The Accused and I will be the witness summoned by the prosecution. This conversation will be Exhibit A."

Mija laughed. She continued to share all the places Wayo liked to go and the things he liked to do. They were about to walk home, Sienna was rehearsing the lecture she was about to give Mija on boundaries. Before she could get there, her phone buzzed.

Sienna barely looked at it before answering. A woman’s voice, raspy and unfamiliar, came through: "Sienna?"

"Yes." She replied through a yawn.

"Thus is your aunt, Owena Miller." The voice said.

Sienna dropped the phone. "I am sorry, my aunt? This must be a joke. I don’t know who put you up to this, but my slot for relatives is all filled up on the maternal side. My mother is an orphan."

The voice on the other end chuckled darkly. "Orphan, eh? That’s one way to tell the story. Pick me up and I will tell you all about your mother. I will send you the address."

Curiosity was Sienna’s fatal flaw. Against better judgement, she gathered Mija and her guards and aunt Linera and they boarded a flying ship. She tried calling her mother, but got no response. And this was the case until they reached the given address, a dinner near a prison in another city.

It was an old diner that was mostly empty. The smell of fried grease and regret clung to the air.

There were some prison guards inside having dinner, and a few ordinary looking people. The most outstanding person there was a bald headed woman with a tattoo curling across the right side of her face like a serpent that had lost its way. She looked like trouble dressed in leather.

"So, which one is your aunt?" Mija whispered.

Sienna looked at an average woman with brown hair and kind eyes. "Must be her."

But then, the bald headed woman rose and waved her hand, loudly calling out, "Sienna, over here."

Sienna froze. "No, no..." she muttered.

But her pleas could not change anything. The woman walked over, grinning widely. She had a chipped tooth and smelled like ten beers. "I am your aunt Owena, just got out of prison after thirty years." She said cheerfully as if prison were a spa retreat. "Give me a minute. I need to get something real quick." She disappeared into the bathroom.

Ten minutes passed. Sienna tapped her foot. Fifteen minutes. Twenty minutes.

Mija was already giggling. "She is probably looking for the drugs she hid in the bathroom pipes."

Sienna sighed. "I should not have come."

Linera raised her brows. "Too late to regret. Now that we are here, we have to know what your mother is hiding or running from. Who knows, maybe she was more involved with Paris’s mess than she admits."

Sienna walked to the bathroom and pushed the door. What Sienna saw made her wish she had stayed outside. Owena was entangled with a prison guard, a bull beast man. She was moaning like she was auditioning for a scandal. They had not even bothered to do their business inside a stall, but chose a public exhibition against the wall!

She slammed the door shut, face burning. "She is having sex in there!" Sienna looked at Mija and Linera. "Can you believe that she is having sex in there, with what looks like a prison guard! She is a mess. Why did I come?"

Mija was delighted. "This is your best relative. I always thought your mom was too reserved and boring. She lacks personality like the color brown. Let’s give aunt Owena five minutes. Maybe she’ll finish taking...." she snorted and laughed loudly. "I am sorry Sienna but it’s too funny. She said she had to take something from the bathroom. Now, I am having dirty thoughts."

Sienna sighed. Her guards looked like they wanted to resign on the spot.

Eventually, Owena emerged from the bathroom, adjusting her clothes with zero shame. "Let’s get out of here before that guy’s wife returns from her supermarket run. Bibi is a bitch, but her man is a bull in the sack. I never miss an opportunity to fuck him."

Sienna’s jaw dropped. "I am sorry, what?"

Owena marched out of the dinner, stretching her arms and yawning. "So, where are we going? Drop me off at my sister’s. She owes me money. If she doesn’t pay up, you will be visiting her in the joint next week. I have a long list of her crimes. She is lucky you came in person to pick me up, or I would have done something we would all regret."

Sienna stiffened. "My mother? You mean my mother? My mother is a criminal!"

Owena smirked. "Long time coming, kid. Let’s go."
