Chapter 271: War on the system.
Seconds passed in uneasy silence, turning into minutes. One minute became two and two became five, and all the while, nobody dared to say anything. They just stood nervously, as if they were waiting for a gauntlet to be thrown.
Mrs. Sprouse, overwhelmed with fear, finally stammered. "You....can’t. You can’t do this."
Sienna voice thundered. "Watch me do it."
The teacher shook her head. "We were all afraid. You should be too. All the teachers look the other way and sweep things under the rug because we know the hierarchy of power among the students. You are just the wife of the fox lord and your brother is an ordinary falcon beast man. Danny Risser is the grandson of the Prime Envoy and future Panda Lord. If I dared to do anything, his grandfather---"
Sienna cut in sharply, "I am not afraid." At worst, if she was killed, she could die and return to her old body or go straight to heaven. Hell was not option.
The classroom fell into silence again, the air thick with tension. The younger cousins huddled even closer together, like chicks seeking to share warmth in winter. Corven Junior stood tall, holding on to Mrs. Sprouse’s arm with so much strength that he could shatter the bone. His bruises were like a badge of defiance, his loyalty unshaken.
Minutes later, the sound of boots returned. Fox guards dragged a very chubby boy into the room. His face was twisted in arrogance, despite his situation. His parents followed, their protests muffled by the firm grip of aunt Linera. "Do you know who my grandfather is? I will make you regret this."
Sienna stepped forward, her eyes blazing. "You must Danny Risser. I have news for you, your shadow does not protect you here." She tapped his cheek twice. "You have some catching up to do with this poor human." Her eyes flicked to his black ears. For once, the urge to fondle a furry beast man did not rise in her heart. Rather, she scoffed and said, "And here I thought panda beast men were all cute."
For some reason, Sienna thought of Cadelaria. How many fat jokes or nicknames would the woman have for this boy? Maybe she ought to be invited to the pay back party.
Danny faltered, his bravado cracking. He was used to people bowing and scraping before him. Nobody was brave enough to lay a hand on him, no matter what he did. This one was crazy. What did she plan to do?
His parents shouted, demanding release, invoking the Prime Envoy’s name like a shield. But the fox guards held firm, their grip unyielding.
Sienna raised her hand, silencing the chaos. "This is my city. The Prime Envoy does not have any special rights here. In fact, when he is here, he bows to me. Your son will answer for what he has done. My people are already digging into school records to see what he has been up to since he was admitted here. He is eighteen, so that history is bound to be long. You will all face the truth you tried to bury."
Mrs. Sprouse collapsed into Corven’ side, her head lowered. She thought of asking Soren to intervene, but she couldn’t even see him. He was standing in a protective circle made up of fox guards whose loyalty was unbreakable.
"Should we move out?" Linera asked Sienna, eye gleaming with cold satisfaction now that they had the culprits.
Sienna nodded. But as the guards prepared to escort the captives out, she noted that the headmaster was absent. He voice rang out once more, sharp and decisive. "Don’t forget the headmaster. Take him too. Hell, bring all the teachers too. I want to have my own version of a parent-teacher meeting."
Mrs. Sprouse’s head snapped up, her eyes wide with terror. This would end with them all being fired. Maybe they would even make the news. Which parents would trust them after this? Which school would dare to hire them? The wheels in her mind turned as a picture of her future was laid out. In simple terms: ruined! Sienna was going to ruin them. "No! Please---"
Sienna’s gaze was merciless. "He allowed this rot to foster. He will answer for it."
The guards obeyed without hesitation. Some broke away from the group, their mission clear. The headmaster, oblivious to the storm about to consume him, was preparing to give the parents a farewell speech, and praise the academy.
The Rocland’s stood in awe, anticipating what was to come. Sienna stood tall, her fury unrelenting, her command absolute. The classroom trembled with the weight of her decision.
Soren sighed. He had known that his sister would make this a big deal, but not a great one! This was more than big! Capturing all the teachers, the headmaster and Danny’s family was epic on so many levels.
"Bring the non-teaching stuff too." Sienna said to Linera. "And all of Danny’s lackeys. If their parents are here, bring them too."
Soren’s jaw dropped. At this rate, his sister was about to capture the entire school at large and move them out.
Danny and his family were the first to be dragged through the corridors, kicking and screaming. Other parents held their children closer, watching the events warily. Some brave students cheered, but they still hid their faces in case Danny returned for revenge.
When that family was dumped on the air ship, it was time for the teachers to be taken away. Sienna had only given a command for them to be moved, she didn’t say they should be chained. But it was what the fox guards did outside! They lined them up like prisoners, put chains around their hands and waists, and made them move in a single line.
Soon, the headmaster followed. He was carried out in Uncle Jorik’s claws, his protests loud and clear. "Unhand me this instant. This is unethical, surely, your child’s grades are not so bad that you need to resort to this. No matter what you say, I am not changing them."
Sienna snorted. He thought it was about grades! How naive?
As she made her onto the ship, enforcers watched from a distance. Their captain was already on the phone with the royal office. Sienna had declared war not just on a bully, but on the system that had protected him.
How this would end, nobody could guess.
