Chapter 254: Two sisters, one investment.

Sienna’s new office was crowded. The parties involved in the complaint had been invited inside and Elena had brought her husband as support. Secretary Mika Red was there too, preparing documents with two lawyers nervously. Six armed fox guards were stationed at the door, and around the office, in case tempers flared. Linera was also there, naturally, just in case someone tried to hurt Sienna.

A court attached aide was present, to record every word spoken, in case mediation failed and the case had to sent to a court of law. Mija, was there, of course and last was Elder Mini, seated solemnly, tasked with ensuring no laws were broken.

Sienna gestured for the two sisters to sit on opposite ends of the room. As soon as they did, air immediately thickened.

Elena was quick to start, storming with a demanding voice as she pointed accusingly, "Stella is mine! I birthed her, and fed her from my breasts. Giving her to my sister to raise was a temporary measure. Now that she is grown, I demand her return and the reversal of her surname to her father’s name Papadopoulos."

Sienna’s lips curled into a doubtful smile, "Have you considered that Stella prefers to be Manos. Her birth father’s name is quite..... mouthy."

Elder Mini cleared her throat, while Mija chuckled.

Niki Manos, logical and cold, adjusted her fur rich cloak, and spoke with icy precision. "Not every woman who gives birth is qualified to be a mother. You gave Stella to me because you could not afford her medical bills. I cured her, saving her from death at an early age. I raised her, educated her, clothed her, and spent a lot to make her what she is today. I won’t stop her if she wants to leave. But if you want her back, then pay me for every coin I spent."

Elena gasped, clutching her chest. "You dare put a price on my child?"

Niki’s lips curled. "You dare ignore my sacrifices in raising her?"

Elena’s husband, Boris Papadopoulos stepped in front of his wife, arrogance radiating from his posture. He sneered at Niki. "Why should we pay? Our Stella will inherit your company anyway. You are barren, and when you die, your wealth will flow to her. We will wait and she will bring it home."

Sienna raised her brows. Wasn’t this couple a little too presumptuous? It was too early to declare Niki’s wealth theirs. She was alive and healthy, there was a chance for her to adopt another child.

Niki’s eyes narrowed. "You presume too much. My company is mine and I decide its fate."

Insults flew like arrows. Elder Mini kept clearing her throat, but went ignored. The guards waited for Sienna to step in, but judging from her nonchalant look and tiny smile, she was still enjoying the back and forth.

"You are cold hearted!" shouted Elena.

"You are greedy and shameless!" retorted Niki.

"You are barren!" spat Boris.

"You are parasites!" hissed Niki.

The guards shifted uneasily, hands on their weapons. Linera filed her claws, yawning softly. In all this, Stella Manos stood trembling in the middle, where Sienna had told her to sit. Her elegant outfit, jewelry and healthy glow were all a symbol of her success. Tears welled in her eyes.

"What is your decision?" Niki asked her.

Stella shook her head. "I...I don’t know what to do. I love aunt Elena..she is my birth mother, but I love you too, mama Niki. You gave me everything I have in life. I cannot choose."

Screams came from Elena and the insults were hurled again. Sienna watched the storm unfold, sipping her coffee. Secretary Red’s ears twitched nervously at every insult. Mija smirked, clearly enjoying the chaos.

Sienna finally raised her hand, silencing the room. "Enough!" She slammed her hand on the desk, the sound echoing like thunder.

The room fell silent.

Sienna’s eyes gleamed. "When I read the details of this complaint, I thought to myself that you are all crazy and I was right. You squabble over a grown woman like she is a prize. She is not a coin, not a trophy, not a piece of meat. She is a person and you will treat her as such."

Elena wailed, dropping to the floor, "My Lady, she is my blood! Blood ties are everything to beast men."

Niki snapped, "She is my investment and my daughter legally."

Boris sneered, "She is our inheritance!"

Sienna fingers tapped against the desk in irritation. "You are all wrong. She is herself." She looked at Elena, "I think you are one of the biggest problems we have in this room right now. I have received an update on your financial situation. You and your husband had no right to bring over twenty children in the world if you could not afford to feed or care for them. Your whole family is surviving off welfare from the tribe. You did not even send half of your children to school and six are currently malnourished. Your sister did you a favor by raising your daughter who would have died were it not for her intervention."

Elena covered her ears, and rolled on the ground. "I didn’t force her to raise Stella. I don’t care, I want my child."

"Why didn’t you want her back before she graduated and settled into her position at the company?" Sienna barked. She looked at Boris, "And you, the five million Niki gave your family was more than enough to guarantee your family a good life. You squandered it on inter-beast race gambling. How dare you call Stella your inheritance? If she inherits Niki’s company, I am sure you will bankrupt it within a year."

Boris turned red in the face.

Sienna looked at Stella. "Finally, I come to you. Your lack of a spine is embarrassing, considering the fact that you were raised by a woman who built a company from scratch to its current size. She has endured more storms than most of the women in this room. I would expect her steel nature to have been passed on to you."

Stella lowered her head.

Sienna raised her voice, "You are a grown woman who can make her own decisions. You are not an infant like you were back then, when your mother gave you away. Surely, you know who is good to you by now. The fact that you are hesitant makes me worry for Niki because it means you are easily influenced. For all we know, your birth parents could convince you to murder her to get the company earlier and you will do it."

There were gasps which were followed by denials.

"By the way," Sienna continued, uncaring of what they had to say, "Elena and Boris don’t want you, they want the benefits you can bring to them. If you had turned out a failure, we would not be here today." She turned to Niki, her voice calm but cutting, "Tell me, are you open to donating your company to the tribe when you pass on?"

The words hung in the air like a blade.
