Chapter 253: A tail for a price.
Sienna’s newly renovated offices gleamed with grandeur and personal touches she insisted on adding. First, she dropped off the children in the day care center for employees, which she insisted on having, and then, she made her way to her office.
Outside, in the office area designed for secretaries, was a rabbit beast man, tall but soft featured, ears twitching nervously. She immediately thought of Timothy, her husband’s personal assistant. Was he the one that sent this rabbit to her? He was not a fox beast man, and this office was full of them, which made sense as it dealt with fox affairs.
So, was he a spy sent by her husband?
"Come with me," she said, gesturing for him to follow her into the office. She sat behind her desk, eyes narrowing with curiosity.
He followed and shut the door.
"Your name?" Sienna asked.
"Mika Red," he replied, ears flicking.
"Your age?" She tapped her fingers together.
"Twenty three."
"Relationship status?"
He blushed. "Single."
Sienna leaned forward, voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "You see Mika, we have a problem. Whenever I see a cute bunny, I simply have to touch its ears. Your constant presence here is going to be a distraction."
He paled.
She raised her hand, "It doesn’t mean that I plan to fire you. As long as you are qualified, you have a job here for as long as I am in charge of this office." She lowered her voice, "All I want to know is how much money it would take for me to touch your tail in a non-sexual consensual way. And you are free to turn me down. I promise, there will be no consequences."
The rabbit froze, ears stiff. "Lady....that is not appropriate. I shouldn’t...." His voice trailed off, but Sienna noticed the hesitation.
She pulled up the details of his personal life on her computer. "You have a sick mother and two siblings that you are raising on your own."
His eyes widened. "They put that in my file!"
Sienna nodded. "They have to include it under factors that may affect your performance. Medicine is expensive, so you could be tempted to swap a document or forge one. Or, you may record frequent absences." She smiled, opening her bag, pulling out notes and coins. "I could be of help."
He swallowed hard, then whispered, "How much are we talking?"
Sienna didn’t flinched. She slid over notes of up to five thousand beast coins, and he walked. He turned reluctantly, presenting his fluffy tail. Sienna squealed, grabbing it with both hands. "So soft!" she cried, "I thought it would be the same as a fox tail but it’s different. A rabbit tail is shorter, and it feels like touching cotton candy without the stickiness."
He blushed.
"I can’t tell you how many times Timothy has caught me secretly trying to touch his tail." She chuckled. "He runs away. From now on, when you need to make some extra money, just let me touch your tail and ears a few times. It has to be a secret or my husband would kill us both, and my daughter will be very jealous."
Mika blushed crimson, enduring the ordeal with stoic dignity. Finally, after twenty minutes, Sienna released him, satisfied. "You may go back to work. Send in my coffee and get me a pair of more comfortable shoes."
Mika rushed out of the room, covering his face. Sienna had hardly settled when a hiss came from the corner. Mija walked out from behind one of the shelves, a smug smile on her face. "Wow! I have offered my tail many times and you slapped it away. Double standards SiSi."
Sienna snorted, "You have scales while he has a soft cloud. Anybody would make the same choice."
"I know a place where you can touch as many rabbit beast men as you want for half the price you have paid." Mija put a file on the desk and opened it, "And don’t worry, I won’t mention any of this to your husband." She tapped the first page with her sharp nails, "Urgent cases first, beginning with this one."
Sienna’s eyes perused the details. The urgent case was unusual. Two sisters had come forward, their dispute dragging into public scandal. They were the Manos sisters, Niki and Elena.
She raised her eyes, "Manos? Are they related to the Manos Dressings and Sauces company?"
Mija nodded. "Yup, the company that makes your favorite salad dressing. It belongs to Niki Manos, her sister Elena has nothing to do with it and neither does the Manos family."
Sienna looked at the details of the complaint, lodged by Elena Manos against her sister. Elena was a mother of twenty one children. "Twenty one children!" Sienna whistled, "Damn, she pops them out more than a rabbit."
Mija chuckled. "I had a feeling that bit would catch your eye. It almost gave me a scare."
Nodding, Sienna continued to read. Elena Manos was rich in children but poor financially. There was a picture of her attached in the file. Her clothes were faded and she looked older than her age of fifty four. She looked half way into seventy.
Her younger sister Niki was wealthy, running a company worth one hundred sixty million, but infertile. In her picture, she wore a luxurious suit, jewels and her eyes had the spark of financial pride and freedom. She looked younger than her age of fifty. Niki looked like she was in her early forties.
Years ago, the two sisters had struck a deal: For the price of five million, Niki would take a daughter from Elena and raise her as her own. So, since childhood, the girl named Stella Manos had grown up calling Niki mother.
Now that the girl had finished school and secured a prestigious job in Niki’s company, on track to be her successor, Elena was demanding her daughter back.
Sienna leaned back in her chair, laughing softly. "Are they crazy?" she muttered.
Mija rubbed her hands. "The Manos sisters and the daughter they are fighting over are in the waiting lounge. I called them in yesterday night. Cadelaria has had the file for six months and she has been sitting on it. Elena Manos set Niki Manos’s car on fire three days ago. I figured you would not want to wait for another hostage situation or a body to drop before dealing with it."
What she left out of her details was that the queen had thirty cases she had suggested they handle first, and this was one was at the top of the list.
