Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Dog Bites Dog
The man said with a wronged look on his face, "I had already left work for the day. I ran into Teacher Golding at the door, and she said she needed to give me a work report. I couldn’t very well refuse, so I went to her room. But as we were talking, she started taking off her clothes! She even hugged me and started pulling at my clothes. I was totally stunned... Before I could even process what was happening, all these people burst in. I... I swear, I didn’t do anything!"
Phoenix Golding looked at the man in disbelief. Was this the same lover who had just been calling her his sweetheart?
He had sworn up and down that she was the only one in his heart, that no matter what happened, he would be her rock. Heh... and now that trouble had struck, he turned on her without a second thought, twisting the knife deeper than anyone.
A chill washed over Phoenix Golding’s heart. The man was still rambling on, pleading his "innocence" and doing everything he could to absolve himself, insisting repeatedly that she had been the one to seduce him.
Tang Xiaonan heard this from outside and sneered to herself. ’What a despicable couple. As if one is more innocent than the other. Neither of them is any good.’
But Phoenix Golding had miscalculated this time. Her lover and his wife were a united front, clearly intending to pin all the blame on her and make her face the consequences alone.
Willingly having an affair and being seduced were two completely different things. The former would cost you your job, while the latter would just get you a reprimand. If you had connections, the punishment would be even lighter.
"I’ll beat you to death, you damn whore! I’ll skin you alive, you slut! My husband has always been a decent man. You tried to lead him astray? I’ll kill you..."
The tall woman knew perfectly well what her husband was truly like. She was disgusted with him too and wished she could castrate the bastard. But she had to endure it to protect her husband’s job; otherwise, she and her children would starve.
The humiliated woman unleashed her full fury on Phoenix Golding, every blow vicious. Before long, Phoenix Golding was covered in cuts and bruises. A pile of her hair lay scattered on the ground, her face and body a mess of injuries, yet not a single person pitied her.
The vixen had it coming!
"Your husband is no saint, either! This isn’t the first or second time he’s been with this whore! He even rented a place to make things more convenient. He probably gets it on with this whore more than he does with you!"
Goldie Thorne shouted the taunts, completely ripping away the tall woman’s last shred of dignity. The rest of the crowd roared with laughter, and their mocking gazes made the woman burn with shame and fury. Her fists fell even harder.
But still, she had to endure.
"That’s bullshit! My husband and I are just fine! It was this slutty vixen who seduced him! Say one more word of your nonsense and I’ll kill you!"
The tall woman staunchly defended her husband. She needed his salary, and her children needed a father. This was the only thing she could do.
"Oh, give me a break," Goldie Thorne jeered, lying through his teeth to stir up more trouble. "Just now, your husband was telling this vixen that the tigress at home is ugly and fierce, that he gets sick just looking at her and can’t even eat. We all heard him."
Jim Thorne and Forrest, both loving a good spectacle, chimed in without a second thought. "That’s right, we all heard it! The fat pig said the tigress at home is ugly as sin—not even a tenth as pretty as this vixen. He even said he was going to divorce the tigress and marry this vixen!"
The tall woman’s face drained of color, and she looked absolutely murderous. Panicked, the fat man frantically explained, "I didn’t say any of that! Don’t listen to their lies!"
Phoenix Golding, who had been silent this whole time, suddenly spoke up. "What do you mean you didn’t? You just told me you were going to marry me, that you couldn’t stand that tigress of yours anymore."
’Since this bastard has no regard for our history and wants to drag me down alone, then he shouldn’t blame me for being ruthless. If I’m going down, we’re all going down together!’
