Chapter 347: Luck
[Did you find something?] Yu Nianzhen asked.
[Mmmh.] Jiang Yue answered distractedly.
Seeing this, Yu Nianzhen didn’t continue to bother him.
Instead, he followed closely and allowed his husband to do whatever he wanted.
Soon after, Jiang Yue retrieved a demonic beast core from a wooden box and held it out for the young lady to appraise.
"How much is this?" He asked.
"That is the demonic beast core of a nine-tailed thousand illusions fox." The young lady answered and looked at the core appreciatively.
The nine-tailed thousand illusions fox was a rarer relative of the nine-tailed fox.
Originally, Jiang Yue planned to use the demonic beast core of a nine-tailed fox to refine a plectrum for his pipa.
However, the core of a nine-tailed thousand illusions fox was even better and he couldn’t help but feel excited.
"The nine-tailed thousand illusions fox is rarer than the ordinary nine-tailed fox. It’s difficult to find and its demonic beast core is precious." The young woman said and looked at the two vigilantly.
"Can you tell us its cost?"
"I don’t want to exchange it for spirit stones. It can only be earth treasures."
When the two heard that, they looked at each other and fell into thought.
A moment later, Yu Nianzhen removed a small box from his storage ring and handed it to the young woman.
"See if this will do." He said.
"Okay." The woman said and took the box.
Before she opened it, she looked at them but the two were expressionless and she couldn’t tell what they were thinking.
’They don’t look like they want to cheat me.’ She thought and cautiously opened the box.
"Heavenly gentle soil." She exclaimed happily.
"Is it enough?" Jiang Yue asked.
"Enough." The young woman said and nodded exaggeratedly.
’Fortunately.’ Jiang Yue thought.
They refined the best quality heavenly gentle soil to contrast their lightning attribute treasures.
What they gave the young lady was of mediocre quality and Jiang Yue worried it would not be enough to exchange for the demonic beast core of the nine-tailed thousand illusions fox.
"In that case, we will take the beast core." Jiang Yue said and extended his hand to retrieve the beast core.
Without hesitation, the young woman gave the demonic beast core and the two prepared to leave the shop.
However, before they stepped out, the young woman ran and stood in front of them.
"Wait." She shouted in a voice which was a mixture of urgency and caution.
"Is there something else?" Jiang Yue asked.
"If the two fellow Daoists don’t mind, I would like to show you some other things." She said and the two men looked at each other.
"Do you have other materials?"
"I have." The young woman said and took a step back.
Her cultivation was only at the seventh level of the origin tempering realm and she was a little wary of the two.
However, she was also eager.
She noticed that the two were casual about trading the heavenly gentle soil.
From where she stood, this meant one of two things.
The first was that they didn’t need the heavenly gentle soil and didn’t mind trading it.
If not that, it meant they had more heavenly gentle soil than they needed.
In any case, she hoped to get enough heavenly gentle soil to break through to the eighth level of the origin tempering realm.
"May we see them?" Jiang Yue asked.
He was in a better mood after finding the demonic beast core and didn’t mind seeing the materials she hadn’t put up for sale.
"Please come with me." The young woman urged and led them to the back of the shop.
"I have been in the trading area for more than twenty years and I have collected many demonic beasts’ parts." She said and took out some boxes from her storage ring.
"Please have a look."
"Thank you." Jiang Yue said and began to open the boxes.
The first box contained the horn of an unknown demonic beast.
It looked old and its power had largely dissipated but the remnant was still intimidating.
"Which demonic beast does it belong to?" Yu Nianzhen asked.
"I don’t know." The young woman said and shrugged.
"From its remaining aura, the class of the demonic beast should have been higher than the fifth class when it was alive."
After hearing that, Yu Nianzhen studied the horn and had to agree.
Unfortunately, neither he and Jiang Yue nor their friends needed the horn.
’It’s too bad.’ Jiang Yue thought and closed the first box.
The second box contained the hoof of a warbear but the two didn’t need it so Jiang Yue closed the box.
In this way, he opened two more boxes before he came to the fifth.
"Is this the skin of a rainbow chameleon?" Jiang Yue asked incredulously.
From what he knew, the rainbow chameleon was extinct in the Cangxing world.
At least, no one had seen it for thousands of years.
"It is." The young woman answered excitedly.
She originally thought her materials were good and would attract their attention.
However, as they looked through the boxes, she began to worry that they would not want to change anything.
Fortunately, the silver-haired one was interested in the skin of the rainbow chameleon.
"Although they are called rainbow chameleons, they are in fact not limited to the seven colours of the rainbow." She informed and then gasped as something occurred to her.
"If you are interested in the skin of the rainbow chameleon, you may be interested in this." She said and pushed one of the larger boxes toward Jiang Yue.
Jiang Yue looked at the box, placed his hand on the lid, and cautiously opened it.
"The heartstring of a myriad illusions dragon...." Jiang Yue couldn’t believe it.
Before he entered the Nine Treasures secret realm, he hoped to find good materials for refining his natal weapon.
However, he didn’t expect to find them all at once.
Now that he had, it felt unreal and he couldn’t react for a long time.
"We want the skin of the rainbow chameleon and the heart string of the myriad illusions dragon." Yu Nianzhen said and rubbed Jiang Yue’s hair.
"The conditions are the same as the demonic beast core of the nine-tailed thousand illusions fox. I want earth treasures." She answered and Yu Nianzhen narrowed his eyes.
He wasn’t stupid and understood her purpose.
However, he had no reason to hinder her since they didn’t need the heavenly gentle soil.
Without hesitation, he removed a larger box from his storage ring and handed it to the young woman.
This time, the quantity of soil was not only larger but its quality was better.
When the young woman saw that, she grinned happily and looked at the swordsman gratefully.
"Thank you, fellow Daoists." She said.
"It’s a fair trade." Yu Nianzhen stated in a plain voice.
After that, he and Jiang Yue left the shop and the woman didn’t try to keep them.
"My luck has finally turned." Jiang Yue said happily.
"Your luck has always been good." Yu Nianzhen chuckled and said.
"Do you want to retreat right away?"
"I want to wait a few days." Jiang Yue said and winked at his husband.
He didn’t think it would take too long to refine his natal weapon but he wanted to spend some time with Yu Nianzhen before he went into retreat.
In the following days, the two stayed in the ancient palace and spent some quality time together.
Yu Nianzhen cooked while Jiang Yue watched.
After eating and drinking, they would make love and repeat everything the next day.
It was a truly idyllic life but one that couldn’t go on endlessly.
On the morning of the eighth day, Jiang Yue finally went into seclusion and Yu Nianzhen set up a stall outside the ancient palace.
The stall contained everything they accumulated in the past seventy years and each item was placed in a wooden, jade, or porcelain container.
On the first day, Yu Nianzhen received some inquiries but no sales.
The reason for this wasn’t because no one was interested in what he was selling, it was because he only wanted to trade using treasures.
Unfortunately, none of the treasures offered were suitable and he declined the trades.
This continued for two days until an unexpected acquaintance appeared in front of him.
At first, Yu Nianzhen thought one of the cultivators he refused to trade with had brought people to cause trouble.
However, when the people approached, he realised they weren’t rejected customers.
Unfortunately, the comers were more troublesome than rejected customers and Yu Nianzhen couldn’t help but sigh in annoyance.
"Everything in my stall can be exchanged with treasures." He said in a plain voice but his eyes narrowed in displeasure.
’My luck is not good.’ He thought and a dangerous gleam flashed in his eyes.
He hoped she wasn’t there to trouble him but as he soon found out, his hopes were too extravagant.
