Chapter 112: Convergence In the Land of Yomi (9)
"Human..."
The voice rolled across the blood-stained sky like slow thunder.
Jovian turned in the open air, Fate Breaker Sword still resting casually across his shoulders.
A tall Sun Kami floated before him.
Pale skin flickered with living solar flames that bloomed and faded along his arms and throat like breathing embers.
His eyes were twin orbs of pure solar fire, bright enough to make the surrounding air shimmer with heat. Gold-and-white armor marked him clearly as a General, and the weight of command pressed outward from him in waves.
Jovian’s white brows arched beneath the shadow of his blindfold, his expression shifting with an easy, unbothered confidence.
A lopsided, playful smile tugged at his lips, as if the weight of the moment barely touched him.
"Fire man... what’s going on?"
At such nonchalance, the solar flames rippling across the General’s skin blazed even hotter, his burning gaze narrowing to sharp slits.
"Who are you?"
Jovian answered with a lazy half-shrug, white hair lifting and swirling in the high wind.
"Who me? I’m just a guy from up there," he said, jerking his thumb straight toward the unseen ceiling of the Underside.
The General’s gaze followed the gesture.
Instantly understanding flashed across his face for a fraction of a second, then his eyes narrowed drastically, solar fire burning sharper, hotter.
Suspicion radiated from him in thick, unspoken waves. After a long, weighted pause, he finally spoke again, his voice low and unwavering.
"Come with me."
Jovian remained still, tilting his head slightly, that same languid smile tugging at his lips.
"Hmm... for what exactly? And why?"
The General studied him for several long heartbeats. When he finally answered, the commanding edge in his voice had softened into something graver, almost reluctant.
"Young man... you’re strong enough to actually make a change in this war. That means you deserve to be properly informed... unless you simply enjoy the idea of dying with all that power still sitting unused."
Jovian’s smile widened slightly as he gave a small, accepting nod.
’Well... he does have a point,’ he mused, pausing in thought. As much as he could peer into fate, not everything was clear to him.
’It seems these people like to carry around artifacts that interfere with fate...’
"Alright. Lead the way."
With that... the two of them turned and cut through the air toward the massive golden barrier of the Celestial Sun stronghold.
The radiant wall loomed ahead like a second sun, rippling with layered light and heat.
Just as they reached it, the barrier shimmered violently.
HUMMMMM!!!!!
Golden motes swirled and coalesced into a new figure directly in front of them.
Sunya stood there, calm and composed, long blond braid resting over one shoulder, green eyes cool and sharply assessing.
The shattered remnants of the white-gold token still sparkled between her fingers before dissolving into nothing.
The General came to an abrupt halt. Solar flames flickered in clear surprise.
His burning gaze locked onto the High Elf Goddess with sudden intensity, clearly reading the weight of her bloodline and presence.
’A High Elf Goddess... had the topside advanced even while the world lay dormant?’
He pondered this, still reeling from the surprise of Jovian’s power.
And now, two beings he believed to be from the topside—both young yet matching the strength of their greatest—stood before him.
It made him truly question whether the damage to the Orin Star System had changed anything at all.
Jovian, meanwhile, let out a bright, amused chuckle.
"Well, damn," he said, giving her a quick once-over. "Didn’t think we’d run into each other this soon."
Sunya’s green eyes narrowed as soon as they found him. Her face stayed calm and unreadable, but the air between them seemed to chill ever so slightly.
’This guy... why is he always amongst chaos?’
"Jovian... why are you here?" she asked, voice even but edged with quiet caution. "Shouldn’t you be helping out your little Academy?"
Jovian gave a casual shrug, twirling the Fate Breaker Sword once before letting it rest comfortably on his shoulder.
"Hmm... I could be asking you the same thing," he remarked with a raised brow.
"And... I’m officially a one-man show—at least until I swing by to pick up my lover."
The General’s gaze shifted between the two: the blindfolded Human who fought with the unpredictability of pure chaos, and the poised High Elf Goddess who seemed to already know him well.
Whatever past they might have shared was of no consequence to him at the moment.
With a curt, commanding nod, he spoke.
"Both of you. Come with me."
Without waiting for further discussion, he turned and flew straight through the barrier.
The golden wall parted for him like water. Jovian and Sunya exchanged one brief glance — his amused and sparkling with mischief, hers unreadable and faintly irritated — then followed him into the radiant heart of the Celestial Sun stronghold.
----
The interior of the fortress was vast and meticulously ordered yet clearly divided.
Entire districts belonged to different races.
Sun Kami healed in floating solar pools, their pale skin flickering with gentle flames.
Humans trained in disciplined formations on open platforms, blades of light clashing in sharp rhythms. Dragons rested on elevated perches of white stone, scales gleaming.
Angels moved in quiet groups, wings folded, voices low as they tended wounded or studied glowing maps.
There was no hostility that existed between the sections — only clear, practical separation by race and function.
The General flew ahead of them at a steady pace, solar flames along his arms blooming and fading with every word.
"The Underside..." he began, voice carrying easily over the wind of their flight, "has not known true civilization for a very long time.
This place lost that luxury eras ago. Every faction, every ruin, every resource site that once existed here has been plundered, burned, or simply erased.
What remains is pure war.... and nothing else."
Jovian’s playful expression didn’t vanish, but his head tilted slightly. Behind the white blindfold his Eyes of Heaven quietly traced the faint fate threads still clinging to the fortress walls.
’Sixty eras of nothing but killing... I wonder what such a thing does to the mental....’
Sunya flew in perfect silence, green eyes moving calmly across the divided districts.
The General continued.
"The weakest soldiers on either side are God Kings. They, along with the God Emperors and Empresses, fill nearly endless battlefields across the Underside.
But the fights that actually decide anything... are the three Star Union battlefields. Including the one Jovian... just helped us take."
By the time he finished speaking they had reached a heavy set of white-gold doors.
The General pushed them open with a wave of his hand and led them inside.
The war room was large, circular, and almost empty.
A single glowing map of the entire battlefield dominated the center.
Jovian’s brows lifted beneath the blindfold as he drifted to a halt, his movements slowing in the still air.
"Shouldn’t there be... more Generals or something?" he muttered, the words hanging in the emptiness.
He cast a single, sweeping glance across the space, searching for signs of authority or presence, then frowned.
"So.... where’s everyone else important?"
The General gave him a hard, flat look as he settled into the central seat. Solar fire in his eyes dimmed for a moment.
"They’re all dead."
The words landed like stones in the quiet room.
"Only two Generals remain in this entire war," he continued, voice rough. "Myself... and General Salvatore of the Dead Kami forces. Everyone else of real rank has fallen over the eras."
He leaned forward, burning gaze moving between the two of them.
"Now..." He said, "Would you care to explain, how did you both arrive in the Underside?"
Sunya spoke first, her voice calm and measured.
"The portals of Kalpa were reactivated not long ago, and I used one." She paused before continuing,
"I am Sunya Ultos, Goddess of the Eternal Hour, of the Celestial Moon Pantheon.... To be honest with you, I came to find out the status of Supreme Goddess Amaterasu."
Jovian’s head tilted slightly toward her, and behind the blindfold, his expression sharpened with sudden interest.
’Oh... what the hell?’ he thought, never in a million years imagining that the woman he’d fought for an entire year was from an entirely different place.
The General fixed his gaze on Sunya for a long moment, disbelief flickering across his features before something raw and almost incredulous took its place.
Then he threw back his head and laughed—a deep, wild sound that rang off the war room walls.
"Finally," he managed between bursts of laughter, solar flames blazing bright.
"You have finally come."
Sunya’s green eyes narrowed slightly, one elegant brow lifting.
"And... what exactly do you mean by that?"
The General’s laughter faded into a fierce, urgent grin. He pointed at her.
"There’s no time to explain. Call her. Now. Call the Supreme Goddess of Luminous Nature."
Sunya’s face tightened, and for a moment the air around her turned still and cold.
She obviously didn’t like being told what to do... especially by someone not the Celestial Mother, but she didn’t argue.
Lifting one hand, she tapped a small golden badge at her waist, and light flared to life.
HUMMMMM!!!!
A life-sized projection formed in the center of the war room.
The woman who appeared was unmistakably Elven — tall, regal, with long flowing green hair, flawless skin, and sharp green eyes that carried the weight of ages.
Soft natural light radiated from her presence even through the projection.
Sunya immediately lowered her head in deep respect.
"Celestial Mother," she said clearly. "I have been informed of the Celestial Sun’s current situation."
The projection’s green eyes moved slowly across the room — first to Sunya, then to the General, then to the blindfolded Human standing quietly to the side — and waited.
