Chapter 1003: 682 Astonishing Outcome_2
After a long moment, Qi Xiaoqing stammered, asking Gao Qin, "Director Gao, do...do I... have that HIV infection?"
Gao Qin shook her head. "You are not infected. If you were, I would have told you yesterday."
"But... but... you didn’t check yesterday, so how do you know I don’t have it?" Qi Xiaoqing’s face was full of disbelief.
"During the syphilis test, an HIV test is also done, and vice versa. In your examination report yesterday, only syphilis was positive, and your HIV test was negative, so I didn’t mention it."
Qi Xiaoqing sighed in relief, though confusion and puzzlement still lingered on her face as her earlier caution and grievance slowly faded.
The constant shifts in her expression hinted that Qi Xiaoqing was slowly beginning to understand.
Her expression gradually twisted into anger.
Just as she was about to speak, a knock sounded at Director Gao’s office door. A tall, tough-looking figure appeared in the doorway.
Gao Qin frowned immediately. She was very disgusted by this uninvited behavior, and her voice became stern. "Get out! Wait outside. Can’t you see there’s a patient here?"
The man with glasses looked back as the door sounded. After hearing Gao Qin’s words, he turned to her and said, "He’s my friend. He’s looking for me."
Gao Qin looked at the man with glasses, very displeased. "Even if he’s your friend, he needs to get out."
The tough-looking man apologized and was about to walk out when the man with glasses stopped him. "Don’t go out. Come in. This matter concerns you as well."
"Oh." The tough-looking man came straight in and closed the office door behind him.
After calling the tough-looking man in, the man with glasses turned to look at Gao Qin. He completely ignored the now furious Qi Xiaoqing, not sparing her another glance.
Gao Qin, clearly displeased, asked coldly, "What do you mean?"
The man with glasses took a deep breath and said, "When you asked me yesterday, I lied to you."
After saying that, the man with glasses became silent. Gao Qin just looked at him, waiting for his next words. Meanwhile, Qi Xiaoqing, standing behind him, was a mix of anger and slight surprise.
After a brief silence, the man with glasses whispered, "He is my boyfriend."
Huh?
Gao Qin’s eyes flickered slightly. She had considered many possibilities, but not this one. Especially given Qi Xiaoqing’s appearance, she had never thought in this direction. But things were often so unexpected. Sifting through her memories, Gao Qin had to admit that in all such cases she could recall, the wives were usually quite attractive and came from excellent backgrounds, which was odd.
"You... you... UGH—"
While everyone was digesting this revelation, Qi Xiaoqing finally couldn’t bear the shock. A chill surged from the soles of her feet to the crown of her head, making her vision blur, her ears ring, and her head throb.
Without finishing a sentence, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
Gao Qin was caught off guard by this sudden turn of events, but professional instinct took over, and she dashed out from behind her office desk.
As for Qi Xiaoqing’s legal husband, the man with glasses, he merely stood up from his chair and then stood quietly with the tough-looking man, watching coolly from the sidelines.
Qi Xiaoqing’s condition wasn’t serious. She had just been overwhelmed by a sudden rush of intense emotions, causing her to lose her breath and pass out.
But this breathlessness had been severe, causing Qi Xiaoqing’s five viscera to ache. Even after regaining consciousness, her qi and blood didn’t flow smoothly, leaving her limbs numb and weak.
Gao Qin arranged for someone to take Qi Xiaoqing to a hospital room. But seeing the cold-eyed man with glasses and the tall, tough-looking man in the room, she felt uneasy leaving Qi Xiaoqing in their care.
However, since the man with glasses was Qi Xiaoqing’s legal husband, Gao Qin couldn’t forcibly make him leave.
Exiting the hospital room, Gao Qin called a nurse over. "Find a male doctor. You two stay in the hospital room and keep an eye on her. Make sure she’s well taken care of, and don’t let anything happen."
The nurse nodded, turned, and went to the doctor’s office. She then returned to the hospital room with a male intern.
Seeing this arrangement, Gao Qin frowned slightly. She had no better solution, so she could only turn and head for Yu Zhiwei’s hospital room.
Looking at Yu Zhiwei, who lay on the bed in a daze, Gao Qin glanced around the room. "Where’s your wife? Didn’t she come?"
Yu Zhiwei looked dejected and whispered, "She went to the Provincial Women and Children’s Hospital for a check-up. She said to just inform me of the results."
"A check-up?" Gao Qin’s brows knitted. "For what?"
Yu Zhiwei shook his head. "I don’t know. She just said her menstrual period has been abnormal lately." He hesitated for a moment, then whispered to Gao Qin, "Director Gao, are Xiaoqing’s check-up results out?"
Gao Qin stared sharply at Yu Zhiwei. "That’s none of your business. Don’t go prying."
"Oh." Yu Zhiwei’s spirits sank further. "Then, Director Gao, please just tell me my wife’s check-up results."
Gao Qin ignored Yu Zhiwei. "Call your wife," she said directly. "I’ll speak with her."
Yu Zhiwei suddenly sat bolt upright, looking at Gao Qin.
He was a smart man; he knew what Gao Qin’s words implied.
