Chapter 46: 46: Free Fall

Sunnie finally arrived at the top of the waterfall after a while. There were some rocks placed on the way, so she instructed the men to help push them to the side.

The men still weren’t used to a female telling them what to do, but they did it anyway. Sunnie observed the flow of water with her microscope from the system store.

Then she had the system run a diagnosis of the area while she detected the visible and invisible germs that moved from the sides and blended into the water.

They were a lot. And she had attributed the generation of these germs to some of the unhealthy disposed waste the tribe had dumped in an area close by.

After figuring that out, she proceeded to instruct the females into work. The men had no work; they only had to push the rocks aside. And as they stood there watching the females work, they felt useless and belittled.

"Did she just bring us here to push rocks?" one questioned.

"It seems..." another agreed, speechless.

Sunnie and the females cleared the waste that bled into the passage from a distance as she handed each of them some lime. (She came prepared with this.)

They took it in a huge quantity and then spread it into different spaces to clean the area of its dirt and germs.

They were soon done with the top as Sunnie stared down. She used her microscope to observe, and the water that was now running down was better.

"That does it," she said, standing close to the edge where she could observe better. "Now to go down and run a general cleansing session."

But the beastmen behind were already discussing some cold revenge. They wanted to teach Sunnie a lesson for belittling them and embarrassing their fellow men.

So as Sunnie stood at the edge, observing, one of them walked close and pushed her slightly from the back!

It was so unexpected that the females didn’t notice in time. Before anyone could tell, Sunnie was already falling down from the waterfall.

"Ah!!!!!"

Everyone was shocked.

Those down immediately looked up at the scene.

"Isn’t that the...?" the elder stared.

"Sunnie!" Little Black called out in shock.

Their minds had gone numb. They didn’t know what to do as they watched Sunnie fall from the top while the beastmen behind it simply laughed.

But out of the blue, someone with wings flew in that direction and caught her from the air.

It was Karl.

Him, Eris, and Luka were watching from a distance, observing what was happening when they saw her falling.

Before Eris and Luka could blink and understand what was even happening, Karl had already zoomed off.

His wings spread in the air as he flew to save Sunnie.

He caught Sunnie in his arms, carrying her as he circled into the sky.

Sunnie gasped, fear running through her veins as she wrapped her arms around his neck, staring into his face.

The bird beastman was shirtless, so Sunnie could feel her body brushing against his bare skin. His body was firm and his muscles hard. Sunnie couldn’t deny it was a sexy feature, but she was also sure this wasn’t what she was supposed to be thinking at a time like that!

But with his muscled arms wrapped around her while he carried her, it was hard not to see the sexy veins popping.

She never took her time to see how sexy Karl was.

She stared at his face, shocked, confused, and relieved.

Karl didn’t stare back at her face. He simply said, "I’m not doing this for you, don’t overthink it. I just hate their guts."

He said flying in a circle and flying back to the top where she fell from. And when he arrived there, he kicked off the beastman who had pushed Sunnie.

"Ahh!" The beastman screamed as everyone watched the man fall with the waterfall and with no help as he crashed into the river with a heavy splash.

Little Black shrugged at the scene. "Fair enough."

Karl carried Sunnie in his arms and brought her down to land. Eris and Luka had come out of the bushes and stood close by too.

Sunnie let out a sharp gasp of relief as she stood on both feet. Karl stood beside her as she said, "So am I supposed to say thank you then...?"

His expression was cold. "Who cares?"

Sunnie sighed. "Thanks, anyway."

She turned to face the others. Sunnie was scared they’d question why a goddess couldn’t save herself from the fall, so she casually said, "I summoned him," she smiled.

"Are you okay?" Zukka inquired.

"Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. It was nothing. I already saw it coming since I’m a goddess, and I had everything under control," she explained.

Karl scoffed, arms folded as he rolled his eyes. "Under control my foot," he muttered.

Sunnie cast him a cold glare telling him to shut up.

"That’s good then," the Chief nodded.

Zukka looked up. "Those men behind it shall be heavily punished for what they did."

The elder also nodded in agreement.

After that, they asked Sunnie about what she went up there to do.

She explained the situation of things up there, how their waste affected the water heavily, and told them to find an alternative way of disposal.

"That makes so much sense.. thank you, wise one, for helping us with this," the Chief spoke, relieved.

Sunnie turned to the river. "Now we have to clean up the waters..."

"Do you have any plans?" Zukka asked.

Little Black stared at him. "Yes. I have a brilliant plan."

Everyone stared at him, curious.

"Why don’t we start with you removing this stupid rope binding the two of us! Maybe then the world will be a better place for me!"

He insisted, but Zukka shook his head with a smile. "No, the goddess gave me an order, and I must carry it out to the end."

"....."

Little Black lost it again. "Let me go! I hate you!!!"

The birds who had managed to come back to their homes in the trees took off again from the woods and into the sky.
