Chapter 39: 39: Long time no see

Zuna happily dropped the meal before them while she sat before them as well. "The Elders wanted you to have this. It’s a special meal."

Sunnie smiled at the meal. "Thanks a lot." She stared at Little Black and offered him to go first.

Little Black looked away and pretended as though he wasn’t hungry. Sunnie smiled while he stared at Zuna too.

Zuna also had her eyes on the meal, casually admiring it. Sunnie could tell she too wanted a taste. "You can have some too if you want."

Zuna stared at her. "Oh no! It’s your special meal. One for the goddess! I don’t dare have it!"

But Sunnie smiled, brushing her words off. "Don’t start with that at all. I insist, since you seem hungry for it."

Zuna hesitated while shaking her head. "I don’t think I can. This is a large male’s meal. Females like us aren’t even allowed to have it anywhere," she explained.

But Sunnie frowned at this statement. She couldn’t believe that the females weren’t even allowed to enjoy luxurious meals like this. "That’s terrible..."

Zuna shook her head. "That’s the customs and tradition of our land, so we shouldn’t question it..."

"Fuck culture and tradition! Who the fuck gives a flying fuck about such bloody goddamn culture that says such motherfucking bullshit!" [Censored with heavy bird sounds ^^]

Sunnie saw Little Black and Zuna staring at her shocked. She smiled casually at them while clearing her throat.

"Well, language," she smiled as she stared at Zuna. "Do you think it’s fair then?"

"Who am I to judge that...? It’s just the way..."

"Do you think it’s fair? The way the females are treated? That’s the question." Sunnie stared at her warmly.

She hesitated, staring down for a while, and then shook her head. "But there’s nothing to be done.. it’s the way.."

"Then that’s it. It’s not fair, and let’s keep it at that. Trying to justify it doesn’t do anything good. If you find it unfair to you females, then it means it’s a terrible thing and you should scrap it."

Zuna blinked, listening. She suddenly felt intrigued by such statements that validated her feelings.

Sunnie smiled. "So start scraping by enjoying this meal with me, will you? Take a bite," she offered.

Zuna hesitated. "But... I.."

Sunnie smiled. "Ok. Let’s look at it this way. This is a meal for goddesses. And you’re a woman, which means you’re a goddess too because all women are simply goddesses."

Zuna stared at her, intrigued. "Really?"

"Exactly," Sunnie smiled. "So, eat."

She hesitated as she bit her lower lip, but Zuna accepted the offer and took a chunk of the meat and ate it down.

Sunnie smiled at this. "Now that’s more like it!"

The two ladies smiled at this progress while they both began eating the meat together, laughing and enjoying the fun of breaking the rules of the clan.

It was Zuna’s guilty pleasure now!

Little Black was quiet and shocked, watching the two ladies have the meat back to back while laughing profusely. He was scared that by the time they were done enjoying themselves, there wouldn’t be any for him.

"Hey! I haven’t had any though! That’s not fair!" Little Black blinked.

Sunnie stared at him with a smile. "You want?"

"Of course!" Little Black came forward to take a portion as Sunnie laughed at this. Zuna too found it funny. The two ladies laughed while watching Little Black force a huge portion down his mouth.

While they ate, Sunnie looked around as she asked, "So, where did they keep those beastmen they previously captured...?"

"Oh. I think they’re in a special cave room," Zuna explained. "Don’t worry, they’re handling them well."

Sunnie slowly nodded. "I see. Is there a way for me to meet them now?"

Zuna hesitated. "Hmmm, I don’t know, but I can secretly ask the clan heir to make preparations for you to see them since you’re the goddess."

Sunnie stared at her. "You can ask the clan heir that?" Sunnie was rather impressed. For a hierarchical and patriarchal system like this, it was impressive that she could ask the heir for that.

But Zuna nodded. "Yes I can. He’s my twin brother, so he’ll listen..." Zuna immediately bit her lower lip as soon as she said that. It was obvious that she wished she had eaten those words.

"Oh..." Sunnie and Little Black stared at her. "Your twin brother?"

It was already too late. Zuna sighed. "Well yeah, we’re related.. twins, specially."

Sunnie was speechless. "How’s that possible? Why is he the heir then and you...? What’s all this?"

Zuna hesitated as she explained, "Well, it’s pretty easy... Our father is the Clan leader and he is dead. My brother took over the clan heir position while I..."

She hesitated before she said, "The females don’t have such positions. So even if we’re from the same mother, I can’t be considered such..."

Sunnie was baffled at such a system that doesn’t even recognise the females even if they were born noble.

"Well, that’s a mess..." Sunnie sighed.

"So I can ask him to help you arrange so you can meet them," Zuna explained.

Sunnie nodded. "Okay then. Thanks." She smiled warmly at her.

She anticipated meeting her husbands. Sunnie was curious to know how things would turn up after all that happened.

Would their perception of her change? Would their affection level increase? She was curious to know.

The next day, Zuna had made the preparations successfully.

She had secretly met up with her twin brother, the clan heir, and spoke to him. He immediately agreed without a second thought.

And Sunnie was permitted to meet with the beast husbands.

That morning, Sunnie walked into the cave where her beast husbands were kept and she was instantly met by their alert eyes.

The five of them instantly looked up at her as Sunnie cast them a bright smile. "Long time no see, guys," she said as if it hadn’t been only two days or less.
