Chapter 38: 38: Speech.

"Tasi what?"

"Pataki?"

"Sismen?"

Everyone was confused. They couldn’t even get the words right.

Sunnie explained. "The gods are angry with you all about the way you treat your women like slaves. They are mad at this and so decided to punish your land because of it."

Everyone muttered as a huge beastman snapped from behind. "And what’s wrong with that? That’s how it’s supposed to be!"

Another supported him. "Yes! We are above, so they should be treated according to their rank!"

Sunnie was pissed as she cast them a cold glare. "It seems you wish for the gods to take your life next before you learn."

"...."

The Chief Elder urged the men to shut up and then asked, "Please elaborate to us, great one..." He was deeply religious and wished to know more, even if it was from a woman.

Sunnie explained how the system was terrible. She explained that she came here to observe and saw how terribly women were treated while the men were having fun and drinking like gods.

She explained that the gods were infuriated by this treatment and that the gods wished for fair treatment for the women.

"The gods don’t demand the women walking down to the beast male, but the gods wish for the womenfolk to be treated like humans too. Treated with respect and honour and not like slaves. They’re the precious child bearers of the land, those who give life to young ones. They’re all gods by nature too. So why are they being treated this low? The gods are not happy."

Sunnie gave a long speech. This was the same speech she had given back in her company at an official gathering (but with changes to match the situation and atmosphere).

Back in her company, men were also held on a pedestal while women who worked harder weren’t even considered. A man could do the bare minimum at work and be promoted as a "talent," but a woman would work hard ten times and would simply get the "that’s your job" treatment.

The gap was obvious. And when she made that speech, everyone brushed it off, and the male figures at the company (including her boss) had grown hostile to her.

But now, Sunnie had the opportunity to make the same speech.

Their expressions weren’t hardened; she could see that everyone was contemplating her words. The women had even begun sobbing softly at the moving speech.

They felt like their feelings had finally been put into the words they couldn’t have expressed. She even saw Zuna sobbing.

"So... the gods demand better treatment for the women and a more equal opportunity for both." And when she was done, the women found themselves clapping.

Some men simply nodded to this while some simply didn’t agree with this strange system. Things had always been like this, so Sunnie didn’t expect them to change overnight.

The Chief Elder nodded. "I see. The gods have truly spoken.. and we have to listen for something to be done."

Sunnie had both hands behind her as she said, "Yes. And also in addition to that, I, the moon goddess, have come to fix all your problems."

Little Black stared at her in shock. "Huh?"

The Chief Elder stared in joy. "Oh! Yes! Yes!" He turned around. "Prepare a cave for the moon goddess to stay!"

Immediately, some ladies rushed off to begin making preparations for the place. Sunnie smiled as she said to the Chief Elder, "Thanks for your consideration."

"No problem!"

Sunnie turned to her beast husbands. They had all been untied and were now staring in her direction. She could read the confusion on their faces. But she simply flashed them a smile.

The Chief Elder and some elders requested she stay till the end of the festival, but she explained that she was tired. And so they let Sunnie go take a rest while they continued their celebration; this time in honour of the arrival of a moon goddess!

Sunnie requested to go with Zuna as her new personal assistant, and Little Black. They let them off, and soon they arrived at the cave prepared specially for Sunnie.

"What were you thinking about? I thought you’d take your husbands and leave. Why are we still here?" Little Black asked as Zuna left to get their meal.

"Not really. I also need the river for something. So I need to first stay around and work on it so I can make use of it," she explained.

Little Black was already panicking. "But... but... what if they find out you’re not a god but just a jinxed rabbit?"

Sunnie glared at him. "Do you have to mention that? Don’t worry, everything will be fine. I already have a plan on how to work through it."

"But it’s still dangerous to stay around here..." Little Black explained. "They’re still the feared lion tribe."

Sunnie patted him on the ear. "You’re so cute when you’re all panicked up."

Little Black brushed off her hands. "I’m just worried. I don’t want to become someone’s breakfast soon."

Sunnie smiled. "Don’t worry. I’ll protect you. You’re like my little brother from now henceforth, so I won’t let anything happen to you."

Little Black stared at her for a while. Sunnie could see the emotion building up in his big eyes; she could tell he was moved.

But he instantly brushed off the expression and looked around. "Who cares!"

Sunnie smiled. "Besides, we finally have somewhere to stay for the meantime and enjoy some good food. Let’s enjoy it while we can."

"Whatever," Little Black snapped.

Immediately, Zuna walked into the cave with the meals prepared for them.

Sunnie was impressed.

It was a huge set of meat and delicious looking soup to back it up along with wine. She was in awe; she couldn’t remember the last time she had such a good meal!

Her mouth was watering, and she was sure Little Black’s mouth was watering too even though he pretended not to see the meal now served before them.
