Chapter 26: 26: Meal is ready!

"They really are unbeatable when they team up," Eris observed. "I have already told them to fight less and team up more."

Luka nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

Sunnie watched for a while before she decided to take action. "Stop!"

Her voice rang out loudly enough to halt Karl and Zayn from attacking the wolf any further. The wolf was now standing as well, its gaze fixed in her direction.

Sunnie hated that she felt like a pick-me in this situation, but nevertheless, she turned and went to her clay pot. She poured out some noodles into a small clay plate and then walked toward the wolf.

"You want this, right? Here." Sunnie offered a soft smile. "It is all yours."

The wolf stared at the meal in Sunnie’s hands. It hesitated without moving, while the others watched in confusion.

"Come here! It will eat you up!" Little Black cautioned from behind.

But Sunnie gently set the plate down on the ground and stepped backward. "Here. You look hungry, so enjoy this," she said with a gentle smile.

They all watched silently, anticipating what would happen next. After a minute, the wolf slowly approached and picked up the plate with its mouth.

And without any hesitation, the wolf turned and immediately ran off into the woods. Within seconds, it was nowhere to be seen.

Sunnie smiled.

"Oh. You were right. I guess he was just hungry," Little Black said as he emerged from his hiding spot behind Luka.

Sunnie folded her arms. "Thought as much." She then turned to face Zayn and Karl, who were standing at a distance.

She smiled. "Good timing, I guess. I was looking for you two. Where did you run off to?"

Karl folded his arms. "Do you need to know?" His tone was rude and cold.

Sunnie smiled. "Not necessarily. But I suppose it is fine since you rushed to my rescue. I guess you still secretly care for me after all," she teased.

Karl rolled his eyes. "Whatever. I came here for the others."

Zayn said nothing. He kept his arms folded as he stared at the pot. He sniffed the air. "And what is that?"

Sunnie smiled. "Dinner is ready."

He stared at her. "You cook? Since when?" Zayn asked.

"..." Sunnie forced a smile. "Since now."

Zayn was surprised. They all were. The original Sunnie they knew had never cooked—especially not something that carried such an appealing aroma as this.

"So let us go in and enjoy dinner together," Sunnie said with a smile. She could not wait to ace this task.

"Too bad. I do not eat with people," Karl said. "So you can enjoy your meal on your own."

Sunnie figured he would say something like that. "Why? Are you scared?"

"I am not afraid of anything. Especially not a little female like you," Karl defended.

Sunnie rolled her eyes. "Whatever. You are just scared."

Karl glared at her. "Scared of what?"

Sunnie raised an eyebrow and shrugged. "I don’t know. Only cowards like you know what you are scared of."

Karl’s face was burning with fury now. He clenched his fist as he glared at Sunnie. Sunnie had pushed that particular button, and now she had to pray for the expected outcome.

Eris and Luka glanced at each other and blinked. They were shocked at how bold the female had become.

Karl’s face remained tight with irritation before he finally spoke. "Sure. Let us go and eat. Is it not just some meal? Let us go," he said as he turned and stormed off into the cave.

Sunnie guessed her plan had worked. She had poked at his pride, and she knew he was sensitive about that!

Zayn said nothing. He simply laid his mysterious eyes on her for a moment before he turned and walked off into the cave as well.

"..."

Luka and Eris stared at each other, surprised.

"He actually... went in?" Luka said.

Eris nodded. "Wow. The female is something."

And without further ado, they too joined the others inside as Sunnie prepared to serve them the meal.

Little Black looked up at Sunnie.

"What?" Sunnie asked.

"Your husbands are scary." Little Black shook his head. "Are you sure you will not leave now?"

Sunnie smiled, patting his head gently. "No. I will not abandon them. And don’t worry. They will not be scary for much longer."

Not after she was done taming her husbands through her system, that is.

---

Sunnie served the meal in clay plates she had purchased from the system.

She had obtained a total of eight plates—one of which she had used to serve the wolf—for 100 heart coins. She improvised some sticks into chopsticks so they could enjoy the meal more properly.

They all sat down on the floor in a loose circle. Little Black sat closely at Sunnie’s right side, while Azure sat at her left. Sunnie sat directly opposite Karl, who could not stop casting murderous glares at her from time to time.

The meals were placed before them on their plates. The noodles sat ready, accompanied by the chopsticks. The firewood that burned brightly at the side illuminated the room and made the atmosphere feel cozier.

"Why are you all staring? Dig in already," Sunnie insisted. But they still sat there, staring at her.

Sunnie scoffed. She guessed they thought she might have poisoned the food or something of that nature. "Okay then. I will go first, since all of you are being cautious."

She picked up the chopsticks and rolled them over the noodles, gathering a generous portion.

They watched carefully, observing as she skillfully used the chopsticks to lift the strange meal and meticulously guide it into her mouth.

It was all foreign to them. The chopsticks were not something they typically ate with. They would usually use their hands or some other simple method. But as they watched her use these sticks with such ease, Luka found himself trying to learn how she managed it.

She placed the noodles into her mouth and allowed the taste to spread across her taste buds.

Sunnie was impressed with herself. Even though she was not in the modern era with modern equipment, she had still managed to create this dish.

It did not taste quite as good as the version she would have made in the modern era, but at the very least, it tasted decent to her.

She smiled as she looked at them. "Now?"

Luka went first. He was probably the one who had anticipated this meal the most. And then Little Black followed suit. They both fumbled with the chopsticks and ended up using them incorrectly anyway.

But it did not matter to them, as long as the meal made it into their mouths.
