Soon, they arrived back home. And what they saw left Sunnie utterly speechless.

It wasn’t as they had left it. Instead, they saw wild beasts gathered at the scene, surrounding some fox beastmen who were badly injured on the ground. There were about twenty of them.

It was clear that these beastmen had come to invade their home and steal their belongings before the wild beasts had come to the rescue of the women who were there.

Immediately, the mice ran to stand beside Sunnie.

"What’s this? What happened?" Sunnie was confused.

Elza sighed as she said, "Them... We... we were just here when they suddenly came out of nowhere." She pointed at the foxes. "They captured us and were threatening to harm us. Some of them even knew where our resources were stored. They went directly there and tried to take everything."

"And then the beasts came and saved us!" Mii, who was in her arms, said.

Sunnie gasped as she stared at the scene. She was rather surprised at what had happened and how it even came to be. She never saw it coming and never realized something like this would happen. "How’s that even possible..."

Eris smiled as he said, "Interesting. I guess the trap caught more than I thought it would." He counted them himself. "Twenty of them." He smiled. "What a big catch." He turned to smile at Aya. "What do you think about our catch today?"

Aya was already panicking. Her face had gone pale, but she struggled to keep calm as she smiled and looked around. "Oh dear, that’s bad. I mean, how can these people come and try stealing our stuff? That’s so disturbing!"

Eris slowly nodded. "Yeah. I also think so."

"Take them down! Destroy these foxes!" Aya snapped. "I can’t bear to see their faces. Such pathetic people!"

She snapped at the foxes while they stared at her, speechless.

"You... how can you turn against us now? It’s your fault that the plan failed, and now you suddenly want to abandon us?!" one of the foxes snapped at Aya.

Another said, "You were terrible at your job! And now look what happened! We’ve been exposed, and now you’re trying to save your own head! No way! You’re going down with us!"

At that moment, everyone turned and stared at Aya.

Eris smiled as he said, "Oh, look. They’re accusing you of aiding them, Aya. What do you have to say about it?" He asked her.

Aya panicked as she said, "No... don’t listen to whatever they say at all. They’re lying! Kill them off before they feed you more lies. I don’t even know who they are, so why would I be with them?"

Eris smiled as he nodded.

The foxes kept snapping at Aya.

"You! How dare you! You couldn’t even handle a simple job, and now you want us dead to protect yourself! I’m sure the tribe leader will get you!"

While they snapped at her, Eris smiled, folding his arms as he said, "What an interesting scene." He turned and stared at her. "But how can you say you don’t even know them when you’ve been interacting with them for over a month or more? Or ever since you came here? Why deny them so easily when you are all from the same tribe?"

"....!"

Aya stared at Eris, shocked. "What... what do you mean by that? What are you talking about?!"

Eris smiled as he leaned closer to her. "Do you think I am a fool, or did you think you were that smart?"

Sunnie stared as the scene unfolded. She didn’t understand what was happening, so she didn’t bother saying anything. She simply stood there and watched as things continued.

Eris smiled as she stepped backward. It was at that moment that it hit her—she hadn’t actually done a good job as she thought she had. Rather, Eris had already known about her plan.

"When... when did you learn about it? How did you know?" She questioned, but Eris smiled.

"Me? I knew the moment I met you... from day one." He said with a soft laugh.

Speechless, Aya gasped. "You knew from the moment you picked me up...? How’s that possible... how... so..." She shook her head in disbelief. "So you’ve been playing me since then, or...?"

Eris smiled as he folded his arms. "What? Do you need the details of it now?" He turned as he paced around. "Okay, then. If you need it so much, then I guess I’ll just give you the details of everything."

He smiled as he continued. "It was pretty easy. The first time I saw you in the woods, I thought, ’Hmm, what’s a fox doing here? And a familiar fox from my tribe?’ Well, that seemed like too much of a coincidence, don’t you think so?"

He smiled at her as he continued. "But I guess I proceeded anyway. And then I began picking up details at the scene." He sighed. "And that scene was the first clue. You met some wild beasts and only managed to gain that minor injury and even escaped?" He laughed. "That was a dumb way to start everything, because that’s sort of impossible. First, wild beasts don’t stay around there at all."

"....." Aya was speechless. She stared with both eyes wide open.

He smiled as he continued. "And even if they were there and you met one, you wouldn’t only have that injury. You would be in a complete mess. You’d barely survive, not casually lie there like someone who encountered some mosquitoes." He smiled.

Aya was speechless. She guessed she had messed up from the very beginning.

Eris smiled as he continued. "But I guess I overlooked that. Maybe it was actually just a coincidence. That was until you insisted on coming back with me. Everything about your act was off. But guess what?" Eris smiled as he leaned closer. "I decided to play along because it seemed fun to catch a dumb thief after all."
