Chapter 213: 213: The Trap Caught.

Everywhere went quiet. The atmosphere was cool as everyone stared at them. They didn’t understand it the way Eris did.

This was Eris’s first time bringing her here. But she had already known about this crucial part of the farmland—a part where sharp objects could injure someone and where there was a hole. One needed to be careful when walking through that route, and one also needed to have examined the land well enough to notice that dangerous spot.

As Eris casually asked her, Aya went silent. She stared at Eris and then at everyone else, who also had their curious gazes on her.

There was silence as Aya laughed it off and said, "Nothing much at all. I mean, it was obvious? Take a look at the spot—it looks so dangerous and all. So of course I would be cautious and wouldn’t want anyone to step in, right?"

Eris stared at her for a while with a calm expression. He smiled with a nod as he said, "Okay, then. Sure."

And so he turned and continued making his way inside, while everyone proceeded with their work.

While they all worked, Aya kept following Eris around, monitoring him while he worked. She kept talking nonstop, but Eris didn’t bother engaging in the conversation—he was fully focused on his work.

Sunnie, on the other hand, glared at them from time to time. She couldn’t help it, and she rolled her eyes endlessly as she stared.

"Mama, I think your eyes will fall off if you continue that way," Maren informed as Sunnie stared at the girl working beside her.

"Continue working," she urged, and Maren nodded and continued.

While they worked, Aya continued following Eris and speaking to him from time to time. At some point, Eris, who was clearing the land, suddenly stopped and stared up into the sky.

"What? Why did you stop?" Aya asked. "Anything wrong?"

Eris smiled while still staring into the sky. "Nothing much. It’s just that I think it’s time already."

Everyone had stopped working and turned to stare at Eris.

"Time? Time for what?" Aya asked, confused, staring at him.

Eris smiled as he turned and looked at Aya. "Yes, I think it’s time we head home. I’m already tired."

Aya blinked. He could sense a wave of panic running through her face as she said, "Going home? Already? Now? I don’t think that’s ideal. I mean, we just started working now, so we should give it more effort." She turned and stared at Sunnie. "Don’t you also think so? Let’s work for some time before we head home."

Sunnie stared at her and then at Eris. "What’s wrong?"

Eris smiled as he sighed. "Well, I think it’s best we go back. The trap I set must have already caught some prey. So let’s just go and see it. Don’t you think so?"

Sunnie raised an eyebrow. "What trap?"

"Yeah, what trap are we talking about? I don’t remember you setting any traps..." Aya forced a smile as she spoke. While Eris stared down at her, he could see the flash of panic running through her face.

"Oh, I don’t think you’ll know about any trap," He smiled. "Because the trap already caught what it should catch. And it was a double catch."

Eris had a mischievous smile on his face while he stared at Aya. This had her confused. Even though she struggled to smile along, she couldn’t help but panic. "Oh, is that so... I don’t think I know about anything, then."

"If it’s a big trap, then I think we should head back and check on it. Don’t you think so?" Luka folded his arms.

"Yeah. Let’s go home, then, if that’s the case. I’m already tired of working," Karl said.

"But we just came to work..." Sunnie tried saying.

"Yes, we just did..." Aya supported.

But Eris smiled as he stared at Sunnie. "Don’t worry, I promise this big catch is going to be more beneficial than our farming today. I promise." He winked at her.

"Yeah. I’m also sure. I’m excited to see this new catch. So let’s go," Luka convinced.

Sunnie didn’t wish to go, but she was forced to. Luka and Azure convinced her, and she ended up giving up farming while they headed home.

"Lazy," the leader of the chipmunks said as they headed back.

"I was already tired today, so let’s get going, anyway," the chubby chipmunk said while they made their way back.

They packed up everything and were now headed home. On their way, Aya was extremely quiet. She wasn’t a chatterbox anymore—she wasn’t talking back to back and pointing out different places and asking questions.

Rather, she was extremely quiet as she moved. It was clear that she had something on her mind while they made their way back. She was already getting anxious.

Eris turned and stared at her with a smile. "Oh? What’s the problem? What’s on your mind that you’re not even talking at all? Don’t you have questions to ask me anymore?"

Aya forced a smile as she shook her head. "Ah, it’s nothing... I’m just tired, that’s it. I think I need to get some rest. And I’m also having a serious headache... maybe I should go and look for some herbs in the woods right now." She said as she was about to leave.

Eris smiled as he pulled on her hand, drawing her closer as he said, "No need to leave and look for herbs at all. You’re feeling sick and tired with a headache, huh? Don’t worry at all. We have all the necessary herbs back at home, and I’m certain that they’ll help you out. So don’t worry at all, and come along with us." He smiled while pulling her along.

"Is that so?" Aya forced a smile as she followed them behind. She was panicking inside but had no choice but to follow. She didn’t know what to expect going back, but she already had a bad feeling about it.
