Chapter 212: 212: Farm Day. Or?

One night, Eris was lying in the cave room, unable to fall asleep. He kept staring at the ceiling, thinking about Sunnie.

It was pretty obvious that Sunnie was giving him the cold shoulder. But a greater part of him wasn’t happy about it at all. He wasn’t comfortable with it.

He missed the old times when he could speak freely with her and she would respond warmly. He missed that, and it had him replaying everything now.

After a while, Eris got up and decided to stroll outside that night. As he stepped out and walked around alone, he caught sight of someone.

Eris saw Aya also outside that night. She was pacing around at a distance, and when she spotted him, she turned and smiled.

"Oh! You’re here...?" Aya forced a smile as she rushed close to him. "Oh, I didn’t know you’d be here. I thought you would be sleeping. Well, I’m so happy to see you, then!"

She expressed as Eris stared at her. He didn’t seem shocked or interrogative at all. He wasn’t suspicious. He simply stood there with a casual expression while looking at her.

"I couldn’t sleep," Eris casually replied with a smile.

"Oh, is that so? That’s nice. Me too. I couldn’t fall asleep at all, so I decided to come out and take a stroll around... I guess." She shrugged with a smile.

Eris nodded. "Is that so?"

"So would you like to go out and see the stars or something?" Aya offered with a bright smile.

"Oh, no... I’m already feeling sleepy now. So I should be going back in."

"Oh," Aya nodded. "That’s nice, I see. Well, good luck, then. I’m still outside, and I guess I’ll go around seeing the stars alone."

Eris nodded with a smile. "Okay, then. Stay safe outside. Don’t run around."

She smiled. "Thanks for worrying."

Eris was about to turn and head back into the cave when he paused. He casually thought about something and turned to stare at her with a smile.

"What?" Aya asked.

"Would you like to join us on the farm tomorrow?" He asked with a smile.

Aya blinked and immediately nodded. "Oh! Really? You’re finally going to allow me to join you?"

He smiled. "Sure. I figured that since you’d be staying with us, you might as well come and take a look around and get to know our farm better."

Ever since Eris had brought Aya here, he had refused to take her to the farm. Every time, Aya was enthusiastic about following him there, but he had casually refused with excuses that she was too weak to go, or that it was dangerous, or that he’d take her there later.

But now, Eris was the one offering to take her. Aya simply smiled as she said, "Sure, then! I’ll gladly come with you! I’d like to come. I’ve always wanted to join you on the farm."

Eris smiled as he said, "Then that’s great. Tomorrow, most of us will be headed to the farm for some clearing and stuff. So you might as well want to join us."

"Huh? Clearing already? I mean, didn’t you all just finish harvest? Why clearing again?"

Eris smiled as he said, "Oh, you might not know, but our Sunnie has some special farming skills. We are always fast and always ahead of others. So we’re already preparing another farming session. We have some kind of special land, you see. So our land doesn’t select seasons; we just farm when we’re ready."

As he said that, Aya smiled with a nod. "Oh, that’s impressive. I can’t wait to witness the farmland tomorrow."

Eris smiled. "Sure. Go and take a break, then. Tomorrow you join us, okay?"

She nodded with a smile. "Okay! Sure!"

And so Eris smiled and turned, heading back into his cave. While he left, Aya stayed outside with a broad smile.

---

The next day arrived, and everyone was making preparations to leave. Only the mouse females and males were staying behind. They would be looking after the house while the others went out to work.

As they prepared, Aya happily rushed out, all ready. "Let’s get going! I’m happy to be part of you all and go to the farm."

"...."

"...."

They stared at her.

"She’s coming along?" Little Black asked aloud.

Aya smiled with a nod. "Yes. Eris invited me to come along. And I’m more than happy to join you all and see what the farm is all about."

Eris smiled. "Yes. I did invite her. Since she’s already a part of us and all, I figured it’d be best to let her join us. Don’t you think so?"

While everyone paused, staring at them, Sunnie smiled with a nod as she said, "Sure. That’s actually a great idea. I think it’s a good idea. So let’s get going. She should come along if our dear Eris also thinks it’s a good idea."

She said with a smile as she turned and made her way off. Slowly, everyone else followed behind while they made their way to the farmland.

---

On their way, Aya couldn’t stop talking. She kept staring around and pointing out things while asking questions endlessly.

Eris kept smiling while he walked with her. Soon, they arrived at the farmland. They settled down and were preparing to begin work.

Eris, on the other hand, had intentionally taken a path into the farm. But before he could even step onto it, Aya pulled him by the hand and drew him back as soon as possible. It was though she had known the dangers of the spot ahead like the back of her hand. And as she pulled him back she stared into his face with a soft smile without giving away much.

"Oh, don’t take that path. It’s rather dangerous." As she said that, Eris paused, turned, and stared at her.

Eris slowly smiled as he stared at her. "And how do you know this path is dangerous, though?"
