With the fall of the final Undead, a cheer erupted from the Hero Squads, started by…you guessed it, Sonas, who was jumping up and down like a child.
"WE DID IT GUYS! WE FLIPPING DID IT!" He cheered while trying to grab Brenden for a bro hug, only to end up being shoved away in the end.
’Bro…. you’re a full grown ass adult, swear already,’ I grumbled while shaking my head but never allowing my eyes to leave the Primary Gate.
While Sonas rallied the other heroes into joining in his celebration, Xilia stepped up beside me after noticing my body posture, causing me to open up the Telepathic link between me and the other members of my squad in the know.
’What’s wrong…’ she asked, drawing the attention of Emilia and my father.
’Don’t you feel it? The particle content in the air is drastically spiking.’ I said as I checked over my gear and restocked any items I had used during the battle from my inventory.
’Didn’t you expect that to happen though?’ Dad added as he joined us in staring up at the Primary Gate.
’Yes…but not to this extent; this is the kind of thing that happens before a Bos…’
"And we didn’t even have to face a boss monster or anything. THIS IS GREAT."
BANG
Without hesitation, Brenden sucker-punched his friend, hurling him through the air several feet as he didn’t hold back in the least.
"YOU STUPID JINX, WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT!"

"GAOOOOOOOOOOO RAHH!" right on queue, a loud roar came from the mountain, sending chills down the bodies of everyone except me, who had already expected something like this to happen.
"RUN, RUNNN!!! DON’T LET IT CATCH YOU!" With the sudden, horrifying sound coming from beyond the Gate, another scream came, this time followed by the sound of hurried footsteps.
"I CAN SEE THE EXIT. DON’T GIVE UP NOW!" another voice could be heard, followed by more and more, until finally I noticed movement atop the Platform.
"No, no, no, it can’t end like this. We were so close…" the voice of a young lady screeched as the first people came into sight; around 50 of them had emerged from the Gate and stood at the edge of the Platform.
(Quake MOVE NOW, AIR TO THE SKY, PICK UP ANY PERSON COMING OUT OF THE GATE, IT’S THE PLAYERS!) Kicking off the ground, I manifested a small pillar that shot me to the sky like a spring, and with a few aerial aerobatics, I landed on the Platform in a perfect superhero landing.
"PLAYERS, MY NAME IS NEXUS, LEADER OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES HERO-SQUADRON!" Standing up and tapping my collar, my helmet vanished from sight, revealing my mask-covered face, and I spoke in a clear and oppressive tone.
Between my sudden appearance and authoritative manner of speaking, I snapped the players out of their fright for a split second as they looked at me in confusion. However, half a beat later, the 16 members of Quake and Air Squads showed up, followed by the rest of my squad, who had been taxied up the mountain by Emilia.
"GAOOOOOOOOOOO RAHH GAOOO."
"There’s no time to argue or panic; Brace yourselves for a rough landing!" Stomping the ground, I used another one of my new skills, Geo-TechTon Shift, which allowed me to move a rocky surface as if it were a tectonic plate and even generate small-scale earthquakes, given enough PC was expended.
However, right now, all I wanted to do was get them moving, so with a slight shimmy, the two inches of solid rock under the feet of the players slid forward and carried them toward the slope before freefalling like a sled.
(Major, I am receiving reports from all the Gates that people have started emerging, but they all appear to be being chased by something.) The Commandant’s voice came through my right earpiece, causing me to check the drones I had stationed at each Gate, and sure enough, I saw thousands of people surging out of the gates and running for their lives, yet, just like here at the primary Gate, there was no visible enemy.
(All squads, listen up. A hostile unknown threat is chasing the players, and one has appeared at each Gate. We are forming all-rounder teams, each one consisting of 2 members of each squad. Get the Players to safety and hold off the threat!)
(Be advised: The military lines have moved back 10 miles, so it will be up to you to control the Players, either by force or coercion; I don’t care which method because, from what I am sensing, the monsters we are dealing with aren’t simple. Be on your toes.)
(My squad will deal with the Primary Gate; if you require assistance, you know what to do.)
’Xilia…you feel it too, right?’ Ignoring the players as they rushed out of the Gate before being stopped by Emilia, Brenden, Sonas, My father, And Piniki, I walked forward toward the massive Gate and stared into it.
Although I wasn’t able to see anything apart from the swirling mass of particle energy, by using my perception, I could "Feel" what lay beyond.
And what I was feeling wasn’t something I had expected to see this soon, not without Gamma particles present at the very least.
’That’s…Shadow Aura…but how? There shouldn’t be anything from the Negative Plane able to cross over without higher grade particles in the air.’ She said
’It’s Draven; somehow, he’s messed with something he shouldn’t have and is now using it as a means to resolve the plans we’ve fucked up.’ Tearing my eyes away from the Gate, I looked toward the sky, and I caught a slight flicker of lavender before a surge of dark clouds blotted out the sun, bathing the mountain and surrounding area in darkness.
’The players are running from them, meaning they were just summoned, but that also could mean they had been waiting for the Instance Breaks to finish. The gates would open, maybe like a floodgate, so that they could leave, but right as it did, Draven dropped these annoying bastards behind them as motivation.’
’What are they…?’ Xilia asked, with a slight tinge of fear creeping into her voice.
’Extremely powerful Creatures who shouldn’t exist on this plane….NightWalkers.’
