My commands were absolute; as someone who had displayed himself as the strongest and best strategist, there was no questioning my motives in the minds of the other Squads, and as such, they moved on demand.
’NightWalker…isn’t that a myth?’ Xilia asked as she took a step back.
’Every myth is rooted in reality; Xilia and the NightWalkers are no exception. In fact, they are the source of the boogyman stories, and just about every shadow figure in lore stems from a NightWalker that crossed into reality from the Negative Plane.’
’Extraordinary Strength and Resilience, they are practically walking magic tanks, but that’s where the similarity to brutes ends because they are as nimble as acrobats. With high dexterity, their attack speed is off the charts. Putting it statistically, their Stats have a higher threshold than any human ever could, so even at Beta-Rank, their stats could be that of mid-Gamma Rankers.’
’If that wasn’t bad enough either, they also have a destructive force that surrounds them called Annihilation Aura, which can be wielded to atomize just about anything it comes in contact with, and lastly, they have a resistance to nearly every form of damage.’ By this point, my breath was turning ragged, and my eyes held a wild look in them; I was starting to get excited.
A thrilling battle, life on the line, it was something I had been waiting for for years as my battle-addict tendencies reared their ugly head to the world.
(Unified Squads, listen up. The enemies are called NightWalkers, creatures from the Negative Realm who have high stats, an insane toolkit of skills and abilities, and are resistant to most types of attacks. Zap Squad, the floor is yours because one of the few things that can hurt them is lightning and radiant attacks. Phys attackers get in and out of the pocket as quickly as possible; prolonged physical contact with NightWalkers will cause immense damage to your bodies, and with how quick these things are, it will be a challenge, so I would prefer you work on evacuating the Players.)
(Air and Vector work to hinder their movement speed in any way you can. Unfortunately, they move on a 4d axis thanks to levitation abilities, so try to counter their movements with opposing forces.)
(Fire, Hydro, Quake, and Ice, when you attack, do it together; although resistant to damage, joint Elemental attacks will chip away its health and stamina, meaning you need to coordinate everything you do.)
(If you see it pausing to charge up something, get the fuck out of there immediately, they have a special skill called Annihilation Aura, and it is practically unstoppable, luckily it has a 10-second charge time, so there will be telltale signs of the creature wishing to use it.)
(They aren’t that intelligent and kill indiscriminately, so if you are able to get one in the same vicinity as another, they will quickly target the other of its species and ignore you until only one remains.)
(Lastly, don’t look down on these creatures; although they may only be in the Alpha or Beta rank, their stats DO NOT reflect this, as they have a higher threshold than humans; thus, it isn’t uncommon to find NightWalkers skipping Ranks statistically.)
Giving out my final order, I took a deep breath and walked back to the center of the platform, where everyone but Sonas, Piniki, and Emilia were waiting for me.
’Emilia, this fight will be the hardest for you, and I apologize, but I can’t have you distracted for even a second; your barriers are the only tool in our arsenal that can combat the annihilation aura, so when you see it charging up, bubble the fucker in.’
’They aren’t immune to their own aura, so if you can reflect it, we can cause some serious damage to the thing.’
’Dad, you and Brenden need to keep your distance from it. But at the same time, you have the other key to our victory: your weapons. I may have said Radiant and Lightning are what NightWalkers aren’t resistant to, but that wasn’t all; their natural defenses don’t work against magic weapons, which everyone who has something made by me has on them.’

’The inscriptions I use imbue your weapons with heavy concentrations of particles, turning them into what could be considered "Magic Armaments," and as such, they will be able to deal normal damage to the creature; the same goes for your armor, it will be able to take, at most four solid hits head on before being utterly useless.’
’Strengthen your legs at all times so that you can keep light on your toes, and only power your arms when you are sure you’re about to land a hit; otherwise, don’t bother because all you’ll be doing is wasting PC.’ Hearing my words, Brenden and Dad both nodded in understanding before heading over to aid the players.
"SONAS GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!" Watching the bumbling buffoon drifting around, trying to offer reassuring words to people before they jumped down the stone slide, it was his turn for orders.
"Ah…right away Major Nexus…" Flinching like a frightened rabbit, the moron rushed over and stood at attention in front of me, causing me to sigh.
"Listen to me carefully Sonas, under no circumstances are you to get in close contact with the enemy, for this battle you are a ranger, take shots at a distance and move, you will be working in conjunction with MsCastle, to inhibit the NightWalker’s movement, if it moves left, you blast it right, if it drops back, you get behind and blast it forward, you will play the same role as Vector and Air are on their battlefields, is that understood?"
"Yes, sir…but…distance attacks are a bit…"His eyes drifted off toward my father’s gauntlets and boots, and a look of concern flashed across his face. It was no secret that every attack he made was unfocused for the most part because he didn’t have the means of focusing them, which is why Sonas preferred to be a close combat fighter…luckily, I had long since known about it and prepared…just in case.
"You owe me big time for this, don’t forget your debt," Taking a deep breath and instantly regretting what I was about to do, I reached into my inventory and took out a shiny pair of boots and full-arm gauntlets from my inventory.
And before you ask, FUCK NO, I DIDN’T MAKE THEM FOR HIM; they were simply the prototypes to what eventually became what my father was wearing.
