Chapter 189: He’s Dead.....
The door of Nicholas’s room shut as the box beneath the computer started leaking a green gas, making Nicholas cough instantly. He gripped his phone as he said, "Let me talk to her."
The hooded woman shrugged and walked out of the room saying, "She’s all yours."
Nicholas’s eyes filled with traces of tears as he took a deep breath only to throw a fit of cough. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he stared at his wife with a reluctant expression on his face. His breathing soon became difficult as he stumbled closer to the computer screen, saying, "A-Abigail.... You.... You have to take care of yourself. Can you wake up?"
Hearing Nicholas’s voice, Abigail frowned as she opened her eyes with difficulty. She looked in the front and realized there was a computer placed in front of her with her husband’s face sticking close to the screen. Not just that.... His entire being looked weak as he stared at the screen with an exhausted face.
This was the first time she had seen him in such a situation. The man had always remained cold and handsome at all times, indicating his energetic self. But right now, he was looking more like a sick person who was about to die. His face was already pale as his lips turned purple.
Abigail’s breathing quickened.
Not again....
She first lost Asher.
Now it was her husband’s turn....
Tears rolled down her cheeks. So many things happened in such a short time that Abigail’s emotion spiraled as she screamed through the wooden ball in her mouth, wanting to speak but couldn’t. Because of constant electric shock, her body didn’t have even a single trace of energy left, making her scream seem weak and fragile.
Nicholas’s eyes flashed with traces of worry as he held the computer in his hands and said, "Baby, can you take care of yourself? Can you live for me? I’m sorry.... I had to do this to save you. So, please.... Can you...."
And after that, he couldn’t say anything anymore as he threw another fit of cough, making his entire face turn red. Soon enough, he had even more difficulty breathing as something felt like crawling out of his mouth.
The entire scene was available to Abigail, who was tied up on her chair, unable to do anything at all. Tears constantly poured down her cheeks as she screamed like hell.
She wanted to say: Husband, don’t fall into her tracks! She only wanted to torture me! You don’t have to die because of that! She wouldn’t have killed me anyway!
But no matter what, she couldn’t speak. She struggled fiercely, making her wrist hurt because of the ropes behind her back, but she couldn’t get off the ropes no matter what. Soon enough, she saw Nicholas glancing at the camera one last time, raising his trembling hands to touch the screen as if trying to caress his wife’s face. He gave a smile, a careless and enchanting smile as his eyes closed and his entire body fell to the keyboard with his hair facing the camera.
Abigail screamed so loud that it almost felt like her vocal cords were about to jump out of her throat. In the end, she had already exhausted all of her energy as she leaned against the chair and fell unconscious. Even when fainted, tears still continued to roll down her cheeks, wetting her clothes slowly.
By the time she woke up, she was already in the hospital. Nurses were surrounding her at this time as she looked about in utter confusion. Because of how she was electrocuted to the point she was barely breathing, her memories were fuzzy. She only had traces of them left in her head and one of the essential memories included the one that of Nicholas dying.
Her eyes widened at that thought as she abruptly sat up straight only to feel her entire body smashing under the weight of pain. Every limb of her body trembled because of utter pain. But more than that, her heart felt like it had shattered into tiny pieces, scattering on the ground and being trampled by the villain’s foot.
No....
Why did Nicholas have to kill himself for her?
Why did he do it...?
Didn’t he know she had fallen deep in love with him already?! How could she live upon knowing he had died?
No.... Did he even realize the one to kill him was the villain inside his own mother’s body?
The color of Abigail’s face changed multiple times as she trembled. She wanted to step down and search for Nicholas. Maybe she was mistaken. Maybe it was merely a fragment of her imagination.
After all, she was electrocuted to the point her brain had turned mushy. She wanted to get off this damned bed, but no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t lift her limbs at all, and not could she sleep back on the bed.
Her action of getting up from the bed with a flash happened so fast that all the nurses were stunned. One of the closest ones finally reacted as she rushed and helped Abigail sleep back. She became a little excited as she rushed outside to find the doctor. Others also checked her symptoms and started noting things down.
But Abigail didn’t care about them anymore. Her mind was fixed on that scene where Nicholas had died. Finally, she couldn’t hold in her tears as they rolled down the corners of her eyes one after another. The nurse who was checking up on her was stunned to see that.
"Girl!" The nurse was a bit old as she looked at the young woman on the bed with a hint of sympathy in her eyes and said, "You’re lucky to be able to live to this day. You should thank your mother-in-law since she was the one who found the two of you."
Abigail raised her head and looked at the nurse as she was about to open her mouth, but not a single sound could come out of her throat. She tried, but to no avail, she remained silent as a mute.
Her eyes widened.
She remembered screaming her throat out back then.
So could it be....
Her entire face paled. No wait, Rosa was also here?
No no no! She had to find a way to tell the nurse about it, but how? Neither could she speak nor could she move her limbs.
Her face paled even more after that. She had never been more helpless than this.
