Chapter 307: Making a Deal [4]

Leon leaned back against the sofa, his fingers tapped lightly against the armrest.

Before him sat Eula in her elegant posture, with one of her legs crossed on top of the other.

She was blowing softly on her cup of tea as she waited for Leon to answer.

Earlier, when leaving for Evana, Leon had told Eula about his plan to claim the Astral Spectrum and that he needed to find Evana City to do so.

At first, it had all sounded like a series of insane claims to Eula.

First, about Evana, he wanted to find a city that was nothing more than a myth, a story from a fairy tale that her nannies used to tell her at bedtime.

And not only that.

Claiming the Astral Spectrum?

Does Leon even know what he was talking about?

If he became the ruler of the Astral Spectrum, then he would basically become a God of that reality. Someone who could take control over souls after they die.

He would have the power to interact with, to process, and to manipulate the dead souls of great, great people.

Surely it had made Eula think of how insane he sounded.

But that was all, somewhere at the back of her mind, no matter how insane he sounded, Eula, too, had thought of a scenario where she gets to meet her elder sister again.

Because Leon had understood, there was a part of Eula that could no longer trust her own understanding of what was real.

She had watched her father wipe an entire kingdom’s memories of Charlotte’s true death. She had watched her sister being devoured with bare eyes.

If a single skill could rewrite the memory of something that horrifying....

If a single spell could turn a murderer into a mourning father in the minds of thousands of people.

Then who was she to say that a myth about a lost city or a throne in a higher domain was any less real?

It could all be possible...

Eula had learned a hard lesson early in her life.

The line between myth and reality was not drawn by gods or by scholars, but it was drawn by whoever held the power great enough to alter the world to their belief.

And if her own father, a mortal, could do something this insane.

Then perhaps a boy sitting in front of her, who had just walked out of Evana, unharmed with the Head of the Blood Tower at his side, could change the world in ways she was not ready to admit yet.

Leon could feel Eula’s blue eyes resting on him, as she read his face for any flicker of deception.

Now, he could lie here if he wanted to, and she would never even get the gist of it to prove it wrong.

But there was a better option.

He could give her a partial story dressed up as the full truth...

He could drag Veronica’s and the other two Tower Heads’ names into it and blame the entire Evana situation on them for politics.

The Twilight Order’s intelligence had already confirmed Veronica’s and the other two calamity tower heads’ presence in Evana’s case.

So they would have no choice but to buy it for the time being.

But that would be a mistake.

Leon needed a long-term game with Eula.

After all, she was his most prominent and invaluable asset in this world.

Eula was not the type of person who could be played twice. If she discovered the lie later, she would never trust him again.

And that would be the last thing he would want.

He would do anything, literally anything, to keep her by his side.

In the original storyline, Eula would choose her sister’s ideology over everything else.

She would become just like her, and that arrogance would be the reason for her downfall.

A villainess who lived only to seek revenge for her fallen comrades after the kingdom declared her a terrorist.

Later in the game, that very path would lead to her own death.

Her demise would have a huge impact on the Kingdom of Liora.

But...

Her being alive would have an even greater impact.

Leon leaned back against the sofa. He took the cup which Eula had prepared for him earlier, and slowly took a sip from it.

The warmth of the tea and the sweetness were just right.

He set the cup down again.

"You asked me how I managed to pull such a feat?"

Leon smiled slyly before saying.

"I do not expose my strategy to anyone. Because they would simply never understand it. Heh... Even when Dreamweaver asked me, I told him no."

"What?"

Eula had to straighten her posture because just now, Leon had said something absurd.

He saw her facial expression changing.

"I met Dreamweaver."

He said it clearly this time.

She placed her cup down on the saucer.

"....You met Dreamweaver, the Calamity?"

"Why, yes. He was the reason why Evana fell into such a miserable state in the first place... And not everyone gets to ruin a Calamity’s centuries-long plan this miserably. It was only natural for him to come greet me."

"...."

The information had entered her mind. But she needed a moment for it to properly settle.

A boy, a mortal, had met Dreamweaver.

And ruined his plans.

And he was right now here in front of her, sipping tea?

"Leon. Do you know what you are saying? If you do not want to answer me, just say so. No need to—"

"Eula."

Leon cut her off gently.

"Why are you not understanding? Do you think the three Tower Heads decided to join forces out of nothing? Why do you think they did? What kind of power would force them to do so... It is clear, they did so because they were really wary of something beyond their current power that they were up against."

That power was no one but a literal Calamity.

"Sigh... Do not think about how I did it. It is not something I can answer, and not something you are ready to understand either."

He picked up his cup again.

"I have given you my word that no matter what happens, I will help you kill your father. I can lay all the groundwork for you, so that killing him becomes a walk in the park for you."

"But on how I would do it... that part is totally up to me. The strategist of the Twilight Order, the role given to me by you, and everyone else, you all just need to follow the strategy I devise, and I would guarantee success, with bare minimum casualties."

He said the last line with a smile.

"That was our deal, no?"
