Chapter 304: Making a Deal [1]

Instead of her usual academic uniform covered by a robe, Alice was attired in a flowing red skirt, with a crisp white blouse, and everything topped off with a stylish beret.

On both of her hands, she was holding five paper scrolls each, length about 50cm.

It was a rather odd sight to behold, especially at an hour like this.

Leon wondered if she had been in a meeting.

Alice noticed his gaze.

"I dressed up a bit because I just had a meeting with Lady Ayaka Rudward. You won’t believe me, but she offered me a referral at her A.R Magitech!"

She grinned widely.

Leon could see the excitement on her face.

"Oh? Did you accept the offer though?"

"Absolutely not."

"Figures."

As Leon finished, Alice’s eyes settled on the girl standing next to him.

She reached near Leon’s shoulder. She had a rather strange frosty hair color, and her eyes, they looked as if they were made of ice crystals, and not to forget her distant expression.

Alice had never seen her in Eclipse before.

She studied Rumi carefully.

She looked rather young to be here.

"Who is she?"

Leon did not have to think much.

"She is one of my cousins."

"Huh."

Alice looked back at Rumi.

Her eyes did not look like a Valentine though.

"You got a name?"

Rumi looked at Leon to which he nodded.

She replied.

"Rumi."

"Just Rumi?"

Rumi looked at Leon again.

Leon let out a small sigh.

"Alice, are you not running late?"

He said it quietly irritated.

"Oh, right?! I totally forgot. Fuck!"

She rushed past Leon, then she looked back over her shoulder and told him.

"Oh Leon, meet me the club tomorrow, I have something to show. Alright Bye!"

And she ran away.

She was indeed in a hurry.

Well, that made sense, because it was the end of Eclipse’s first session, so all the research scholars and the regular students were having a tough time.

At the end of Autumn, everyone would advance to the second session of Eclipse. And with that new ennollment will start for the new batch.

"Haaah..."

Leon let out a tiring sigh.

Things were going to get really busy for him, from tomorrow on.

From his side, Rumi commented.

"Cousin, huh?"

"What else do you want me to say then?"

"I do not really mind. Well, spirits never actually had family to begin with."

Unlike humans, they were not born the natural way.

Leon knew that, he also knew that her being and the others like her were nameless entities. Until they were given a name by someone.

’What can one expect from a reality with no ruler.’

In that sense.

"If that is the case, and someone asks you, you can just say your full name as Rumi Valentine. No one in Valentine Dukedom will question it. And if they did, tell them it was my sister who named you."

Leon winked at her.

Rumi blinked at his rather bold and stupid sentence.

But well....

She liked it, and because of that, she just nodded.

After fifteen more minutes of walking, they reached the restaurant.

Sitting on a round table opposite each other, Leon saw Rumi’s eyes sparkle as she held the menu card.

"This is so much difficult. Say, Haru... should we order everything on the menu?"

"No way in hell. I do not have money to waste."

"Says the billionaire."

"Hey, that was then. And besides, the cuisine in this world is not that good, so choose wisely."

Rumi narrowed her eyes at him and grumbled.

Then she muttered just loud enough for him to hear.

"Get rich already."

"...."

Leon’s eye twitched.

Seriously, his older self was much more cooler in these regards.

The previous Haru would have probably opened his wallet without even looking at the price.

This one had to budget his meals like a normal student.

How embarrassing...

"Yeah yeah, easier said than done, it is not like someone will offer me a million coins just by walking by and seeing me sitting here."

"Then, half the menu?" Rumi raised her hand.

"No."

He scoffed casually as he flipped through the menu.

"Leon?"

As he just finished saying that, a feminine familiar voice called out to him from the table behind him.

Leon paused and looked behind.

Sitting on the table, surrounded by maids was a women with long striking purple hair and matching eyes.

It was none other than....

"Madam Ayaka?"

Viscount-ranked noble of the Liora Kingdom, the head of the Rudward Family, the Business tycoon and the founder of A.R Magitech, and the 7th head of the infamous Twilight Order.

And it was the very same person whose cargo ship Leon and the others had boarded, and even took an elven mana core it was carrying with tight security.

Unlike theirs, her table was filled with so much food, as if she had ordered the entire menu for herself.

It made Leon question if all of that was for one person.

Before long, his eyes fell on a girl sitting just next to her.

’Oh, I did not even notice her.’

She was wearing the Eclipse uniform even at this hour. Her face, her hair, and even her eyes resembled so highly to Ayaka beside her.

’That must be her daughter...’

Ayaka had told him before that her daughter was in Leon’s class.

But then again, he did not recall her at all.

Maybe it was because her rank inside the class was low.

Her eyes glanced at Rumi.

She flashed a small polite smile toward her, then she turned back to Leon.

"Why do you not join us, Leon?"

"No, we are goo—"

Dab!

Rumi kicked his foot from under the table.

Leon looked at her sideways.

She was making a strange face of nothing in particular. But her eyes were clearly telling him that she really, really, really wanted to go over there.

’Hey now, don’t make that face. What happened to your bold claim earlier about not making me feel troubled, huh?’

Leon was about to reject the offer regardless.

But the maids had already begun arranging extra chairs at Ayaka’s table without asking.

They were moving so quickly that by the time Leon opened his mouth again, two extra seats were already prepared.

Madam Ayaka clapped her hands lightly once.

"Wonderful. Please Leon and the young lady, come over."

She gestured to the empty seats with grace.

Leon’s eye twitched at the smooth bypass of his refusal.

He shot Rumi one last sideways glare.

Rumi just stood up casually and walked over to the new seat without even looking back at him.

"...."

He sighed quietly and followed her to the table.

’I just hope she doesn’t charge me for the Elven core...’
