Chapter 303: A New Kind of Power

A whole new sensation ran all over his body, passing from somewhere near his heart to the very tip of his fingers.

In less than a second, the water started to freeze from one single spot and spread rapidly across the entire cup.

Overflowing, it even went out of the cup until it froze half the flooring of Leon’s room.

"W-wow."

Even he was stunned to see the result.

He had only used a full one third of what mana would have cost to cast this magic spell, and the result was devastatingly beyond what he had imagined.

If a normal Ice Affinity mage with the same mana core had tried casting this spell, the result would have barely been enough to freeze half the cup, let alone overflow it and freeze the floor beneath it.

Leon soon took out his finger, and traced it on the ice floor.

It was all real ice, condensed from Astral Matter which was channeling from his mana core.

The Mark on his hand had not stopped pulsing even after he had let his mana drain.

This told Leon that to use Astral Matter, he first needed to empty his mana core. The sigil on his hand would then auto-trigger and drag the Astral Matter from the Astral Spectrum into his body, fueling his empty mana core in return.

The Mark on his hand would glow as long as his Mana Core is getting run by Astral Matter.

Leon stood up and looked down at his floor.

"...."

The ice had covered half his flooring.

If a two-line incantation could do this much, then imagine what a three-line incantation would bring.

Leon had just become a Spellweaver.

Meaning he could now perform a three-line incantation.

Well, so much as to test it though, he had to wait for the right time.

Otherwise, instead of just the floor, the whole building might freeze.

He once again looked around.

’Good thing my bed and sofa were not frozen.’

Leon would just pretend the ice did not exist. It would evaporate in the morning anyway.

He nodded to himself and sat on the bed.

Rumi walked out of the shower.

She was wearing the same outfit as before, except her hair was now tied up inside a towel and made into a bun.

She walked toward him and met Leon’s gaze.

Then her feet brushed against something cold.

"...Hm?"

She stopped and looked down.

It was ice.

And ice had covered half of the entire floor.

"...."

She looked back at Leon, who was sitting there casually.

"What happened here?"

Leon casually rested his back against the headboard of his bed.

"I was testing something out."

Rumi tilted her head.

But her frosty eyes were already running across the patterns of the ice on the floor.

"Huh? Did you use Astral Matter?"

Leon nodded.

"When did you become an expert in it?"

"A couple of minutes ago."

"...."

Well, Leon had told her about the reward he would be getting from clearing the hidden quest. But Rumi was kind of certain that it would take him at least a day or two to get the gist of Astral Matter, even with his level of intellect.

She still could not believe he had figured it out on his own.

And in just this short amount of time.

Then again, this man was the one who had created everything here in the first place.

"Anything other questions?"

Leon asked her.

Rumi pursed her lips together for a moment, then she walked over the frosty floor toward the mirror placed against the wall.

She undid her towel bun and let her loose damp hair fall down across her shoulders.

Leon glanced at her from his seat.

It was strange watching her like this.

The way she ran her fingers through her hair the way a normal human girl would, and the way she gathered it back into a single ponytail.

She gave herself a small satisfied smile.

Then she turned around to face Leon.

"Alright, Haru. I am done, let us go out, treat me to dinner."

"...."

Leon stared at her.

’Is this what it feels like to have a little sister?’

Well, he would never know.

He stood up casually and said.

"Alright. After I take a shower first."

Rumi did not argue.

After consuming the Elven Spirit Core, she was having no hard time living in a humanoid form, which was good for both him and her.

After he was done showering, Leon and Rumi strolled out of the dorm building.

Rumi was still in her humanoid form.

The other students and staff passing by all looked at her unusual hair, and her cold appearance.

To them, she would probably look like a newly admitted student, or someone Leon Valentine had brought with him here.

It was past evening, around 6:30 PM.

"Haru, you do not mind me staying in human form, right?"

She asked for everything to him.

Leon knew that if he had said he wanted her back in spirit form, she would oblige without even leaving a comment behind.

But Rumi had served him well when he was in his coma, and even went through a lot in his absence.

"Nah, you can stay in this form as long as you want."

"Ah, that would be too much. I will just come out once in a day or two."

Well, that was fine.

She was obedient.

And the only person in this world who called him by his real name.

They were heading towards the restaurant which was inside the Eclipse.

As Rumi did not want to trouble Leon, she was the one who had told him so.

Leon swiftly glanced at her sideways.

She was walking just beside him and looking around at the surroundings.

It must have been so long for her since she had walked this casually, it seemed.

Both of them took a turn together, and right as they did, Leon bumped into someone who was running from the opposite direction.

"Ouch! Fucking hell, that hurts!"

Leon did not even have to guess who this voice belonged to.

"Oh? It’s you, Leon, you came back!"

Leon brushed his shoulder.

Standing there was a girl of his height.

Black hair with purple strands streaking through it, and those intense crimson eyes that he remembered all too well.

"Alice..."

He let out a small sigh.

"Where exactly are you off to in such a hurry? The toilets that way you know."

Alice’s eyebrow shot up immediately.

"Huh?! The heck is that supposed to mean?!"
