Chapter 302: Beyond Mortal Mana

[Fate Points Earned: 247]

[Total Fate Points: 250]

Leon stared at the translucent window for a couple of minutes.

250 total Fate Points....

With that many, he would not have to worry about spending Fate Points recklessly now.

"Reversing time and getting involved with Evana brought me that much?"

During the House Vallahail Incident, where he had gotten involved in the Tiara Incident, it had only brought him just 2 Fate Points.

Leon soon deduced.

’Is it because the Fate Points depend on the scale of involvement?’

During the Tiara Incident, surely the event that had occurred had caused an uproar, and Leon had even destroyed the Demon God’s vessel.

But it was also true that the Demon God’s vessel thing was never even part of the Game’s Plot to begin with, just like how Dreamweaver’s descent was not part of the original Evana Arc either.

’That is weird in a much abnormal sense.’

Because if that was true, then by looking at the data, it was clear that the high rise in Fate Points was because he had let Dreamweaver get involved, and disturbed the whole cosmos by reversing the time itself.

Then again, with 250 Fate Points, he would now not have to worry about accepting quests he did not like.

He could grab any skill he liked without much of a thinking.

"...This feels like cheating though."

Not like it mattered to him.

A small smile spread over his face. Closing the translucent window, Leon turned his focus on the Sigil of the Souvenir of Astral Spectrum.

He raised his right hand and inspected the back side of it.

The Mark looked almost unnoticeable.

A circle cut vertically through the center by a single diagonal cross.

It highly resembled the Greek alphabet Phi, except that the thickness of the diagonal cross and the thin circle made it look more like a Holy Cross symbol and less like the Phi alphabet.

"Tch.."

Should have hired better designers.

He scratched the area where the mark was to see if this was really permanent or not.

No player in the game had ever reached the hidden quest. Well, even if they had reached it, they would not have been able to beat the dragon hatchling with normal means.

That being said, the Mark on his hand was called the Souvenir of the Astral Spectrum.

This allowed the one bearing it to get recognised as the one candidate for the throne that lay empty in that reality.

And this would make his travel to the Astral Spectrum harmless, and would also help as a guide leading him towards the throne.

All Leon had to do now to claim the Astral Spectrum was to just let Rumi take him there with her, and the rest would happen on its own with the help of the Mark guiding him to the throne.

"Hmmm..."

The sigil also allowed one to summon a percentage of Astral Matter through their body, and Leon wanted to try it out right this instant.

"Alright..."

He stood up, and walked towards his table, from where he poured a cup of water for himself.

He placed the cup on the ground, and sat across from it.

Astral Matter was nothing but a superior form of mana of the Mortal Domain. Where casting a spell using normal mana would consume much of his mana in his body, the case was different with Astral Matter.

It barely even took one third of Astral Matter to cast the very same spell.

On that note, Leon wondered.

’How do I call upon Astral Matter again?’

It was very different from the game, where all it took was just one click on the controller.

But here, this was reality.

He needed to understand and link both the mechanisms of how the damn thing worked.

Looking at the cup of water, Leon first extended his hand towards it and dipped one of his fingers inside.

He was going to freeze the water without using any of his mana.

He tried it for the first time.

But subconsciously his mana got triggered, and his Ice Affinity froze the water in an instant.

"Ah shit."

This was not what he had wanted though.

He melted the ice and then tried again, this time making sure that he stayed fully conscious of his mana.

But even with all of that, his mana got triggered anyway.

’What am I doing wrong?’

Leon looked at the Mark on the back of his hand.

This thing had not shown any kind of reaction or whatever.

For the first time when he had awakened after consuming the Drop of Limitless, his mana core had been abruptly erupted by loads and loads of mana. So what if his mana core was just not used to this new source.

Or, it could be what was hindering it.

’That could be the case... So I just have to shut off the mana.’

Leon focused on his mana core, recalling what Lumina had taught him while wielding the Moonblade. The technique where Leon could cause an equal and opposite mana clash inside himself.

He tried to do the same now.

But this time, he was doing it not towards the mana core, but away from it. To let his mana core drain off everything it had.

Leon called this...

The Hoshigami Style Inversion Technique!

If Rumi heard the name, she would laugh herself out of his body.

Good thing she is not here.

"Haaaaaaaaah....."

He breathed out heavily.

His mana started seeping out of him slowly.

His body was returning the mana back to the environment with every breath he intake.

A minute passed and his mana core was completely drained.

As Leon’s mana core finally emptied itself, he felt weak and dizzy. His vision blurred slightly at the corners, and the room around him tilted for a moment.

But the dizziness passed soon enough.

his eyes lowered toward the Mark on his hand.

The sigil was now glowing faintly soft golden color.

A coldness slowly spread across his body.

Leon let the coldness flow through his veins. He guided it carefully, letting it spread outward through his arms, his shoulders, his chest, and finally around his heart.

Badump. Badump. Badump.

Badump. Badump.

It took about fifteen seconds, and his entire body went cold.

He opened his eyes and saw that he was steaming out.

The whole room had become misty.

Again this time, he tried freezing the water inside the cup.

He next called forth the Ice Affinity, and with that he chanted a spell.

"—Ancient wing of the unmoving frost,

—Hold what stands, until it is lost."

Woooooooooooss—-!!
