Chapter 140: Lost his mind!
EVA.
The moment I saw Ella use her powers, fear gripped my heart. It was the kind that made my entire body grow cold.
I had always known she wasn’t truly wolfless.
No matter what everyone else believed, I had never completely accepted that lie.
There had always been something unusual about her.
Still...Knowing she had a wolf and actually witnessing her power were two completely different things.
I had never expected her wolf to possess such an overwhelming ability.
The effortless strength, and the sheer force she displayed, along side the confidence with which she used it.
Everything about it was terrifying.
And somehow...I was certain that wasn’t even the extent of her abilities. Surely a wolf like hers wouldn’t possess only a single gift.
There had to be more.
My mind couldn’t stop asking the same question.
Who exactly was she?
Who was Ella... really?
Had all of us been looking at the wrong person this entire time?
Then another thought suddenly surfaced.
Thomas.
Was this why Thomas had always been so desperate to get rid of her?
Was this the secret that had frightened him so badly?
If he discovered what had happened today...If he learned that Ella had openly displayed such terrifying power before everyone...How would he react?
The thought alone sent another shiver through me.
She truly wasn’t someone anyone could afford to underestimate.
Nor was she someone to play games with.
Thinking back now, it suddenly made perfect sense.
Of course she had seen through my plans.
Of course she had turned everything around and made it backfire on me.
Someone that sharp...someone that powerful...Would never have fallen into such a simple trap.
Another thought crossed my mind.
The veil.
Did she use acid?
My breathing caught.
Oh no...If she really had...then I was completely finished.
For several long moments, panic consumed me, and then I slowly forced myself to think rationally.
No. It couldn’t have been acid.
If it truly had been acid, my skin wouldn’t merely be swollen—It would have burned.
The damage would have been far worse.
The realization eased a small part of my fear, but only a very small part.
The humiliation I had suffered today still burned inside me, as everything that had happened replayed over and over in my mind—the embarrassment, the whispers and the mocking eyes.
I clenched my fists tightly.
I wanted revenge.
I wanted both Ella and Alex to pay for everything that had happened today.
Every bit of it.
But...how was I supposed to fight someone like Ella?
How could I possibly stand against someone whose strength was so overwhelming?
It wasn’t as though my own wolf lacked an ability.
I possessed one too, yet compared to what I had just witnessed...It felt completely insignificant and completely useless.
My wolf’s ability to levitate objects suddenly seemed laughable.
What use was that against someone capable of displaying such frightening power?
The comparison only frustrated me further.
My chest tightened and my teeth clenched, as an overwhelming sense of helplessness washed over me.
"Arrrrghhhhh!" I screamed inwardly, the frustration threatening to consume me completely.
I was still burning with anger—anger at Ella and anger at myself.
Everything that had happened today replayed endlessly inside my head, making it impossible for me to calm down.
Every humiliating moment only fueled my resentment even more, and then, through the restless crowd, my eyes caught sight of a familiar figure.
My heartbeat instantly skipped.
No...What was he doing here?
Panic immediately tightened around my chest.
He wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near this place.
If anyone recognized him...If even one person connected him to me...everything would be over.
Every secret I had worked so hard to keep hidden could be exposed in an instant.
The mere thought made my breathing become uneven.
Did he intend to ruin everything we had been working toward?
Had he completely lost his mind?
The one task I had entrusted to him still hadn’t been completed.
Not only had he failed to accomplish it...he was now openly wandering around where countless people could see him.
The audacity!
My irritation flared all over again.
Without thinking any further, I immediately rose from my seat.
I needed to stop him.
I needed to pull him somewhere secluded before anyone noticed him.
Just as I was about to take my first step—
"Guards!" Alex’s voice echoed sharply through the hall.
I froze.
Slowly, I turned toward him, and his expression was darker than I had ever seen before.
"Confine Luna Eva in the Pack’s prison house..." He paused only briefly."...the dungeon."
Every bit of color drained from my face.
For a moment, I couldn’t even process what I had just heard.
The dungeon?
What did he mean?
Surely he wasn’t serious.
Hadn’t today already been humiliating enough?
Was everything he had done to me still not enough?
Desperation immediately took over.
"Alex..." I called out, as my voice trembled. "Our baby..."
I tried to appeal to his emotions. If nothing else could reach him, surely the child would.
But I never got the chance to finish.
"Shut up!" He said, as his furious roar silenced me immediately, and he took another step closer, glaring at me with eyes filled with nothing but coldness.
There was no warmth left in his expression.
"Both you..." He spoke each word with chilling clarity. "...and your baby are useless to me at this point."
The words struck me like a physical blow.
I stared at him in complete disbelief.
"But, Alex..."
I tried once more.
Perhaps he would listen.
Perhaps—
But he cut me off again without mercy.
"Every single moment Ella remains outside this pack..." He lowered his voice, as he spoke, though it became even colder. "...I will make you suffer."
Then, to my horror, he smiled at me. It wasn’t a warm smile, nor was It a kind one.
It was the smile of someone determined to make good on every threat he had just made.
"So you’d better pray..." He held my gaze without blinking. "...that she returns on time."
With those final words, he casually raised one hand.
The surrounding guards immediately understood the command.
They moved toward me without hesitation.
Strong hands seized my arms from both sides.
Before I could resist or even speak again, Alex had already turned his back on me.
Without another glance, without another word...he simply walked away.
I could only stare after him in complete shock.
What was happening?
When had everything changed like this?
Alex...he had completely lost his mind.
