Chapter 139: Wolf ability.

Lurgard.

I still had Alex firmly by the collar, my fingers refusing to loosen their grip.

Even so, my attention was no longer on him, as my eyes shifted toward Theresa.

Nathan was doing this on purpose, It was very obvious. He was deliberately putting her in an uncomfortable position, forcing her to respond in front of everyone.

The realization only irritated me further.

I wasn’t enjoying this one bit.

With an annoyed scoff, I shoved Alex away from me. He staggered backward, struggling to regain his balance.

I was just about to step forward and speak on Theresa’s behalf when she unexpectedly smiled. It wasn’t a wide smile, it was just a calm, confident one.

Then, without the slightest hesitation, she took a slow step toward Nathan.

"Nathan Brown," she called softly, her voice gentle, yet it carried clearly throughout the silent hall.

Nathan immediately straightened, convinced she was finally about to answer him.

Theresa looked directly into his eyes. "Everyone here is already well aware of your personality." She paused deliberately, allowing her words to sink in, as she continued. "So tell me..." She added. "How do you expect me to divorce my cheating husband..." Her expression remained perfectly composed. "...only to become entangled with a nationwide womanizer..." She tilted her head slightly. "...a public cheater?"

The words landed like a heavy blow.

Nathan’s confident smile disappeared almost instantly. All the color drained from his face, as his expression twisted between humiliation and disbelief.

"You..."

He raised a trembling finger and pointed it directly at Theresa, his chest rising and falling with fury.

His face reddened visibly.

Without another thought, he suddenly lifted his hand.

He aimed a slap straight at her.

My heart lurched.

"Theresa!" I instinctively rushed forward, intending to stop him before his hand could reach her.

But I wasn’t fast enough.

Just before I could reach them and grab his wrist, Theresa calmly caught his hand herself.

Her movements were astonishingly smooth and effortless. In one swift motion, she twisted his wrist, stepped to the side, and spun his body around.

Nathan lost his balance immediately.

Before anyone realized what had happened, she had already forced his arm behind his back and pinned it there.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye.

I froze where I stood.

My eyes widened in disbelief.

Theresa’s wolf abilities...one of which was her extraordinary strength...were on full display.

Could it be...?

Did this mean she was beginning to regain her memory?

Whatever had been suppressing her wolf’s power...was it finally beginning to fade?

I remained completely lost in those thoughts.

Then Theresa suddenly cried out.

With one powerful movement, she released Nathan while using her strength to hurl him away.

His body flew across the distance before crashing near the gate, nearly a hundred meters away.

A collective gasp echoed through the crowd.

Everyone stared in stunned silence.

"How dare you!" Theresa shouted, her voice ringing across the arena as her fury continued to spill out.

Theresa was acting exactly like her old self again—the confidence, the strength and the way she had handled Nathan without the slightest hesitation.

It was all unmistakably familiar.

My heart tightened.

If that was true...then it could only mean one thing—she was beginning to recover.

And if she recovered...would she remember everything?

Every cruel thing I had done to her because of my jealousy...every mistake I had tried so desperately to bury...

The thought alone sent panic rushing through me.

Without thinking any further, I hurried toward her.

I needed to know.

I needed to see whether she had truly regained her memory.

But before I could reach her, Theresa suddenly swayed.

Her body staggered backward as though all the strength had suddenly drained from her.

"Theresa!" I called out, as I instinctively reached out.

Before I could catch her, Leonard moved far quicker than I did.

In one swift motion, he wrapped an arm around her and steadied her before she could fall to the ground.

Only then did I release the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.

A quiet sigh escaped my lips.

At least she hadn’t collapsed completely.

But my relief lasted only a second.

"Theresa, open your eyes!" Lawrence’s voice rang out urgently.

He immediately dropped into a crouch beside her and gently took hold of one of her hands.

The urgency in his voice instantly made my heart race again.

I hurried over and knelt beside them, bas panic quickly replaced the relief I had felt moments earlier.

"She’s responding..." Leonard said while carefully supporting her body. "...but her breathing is uneven."

His words made my stomach twist.

I stared at Theresa’s pale face, and it was obvious something was wrong.

What happened?

Had she pushed herself too far?

Had using so much of her wolf’s strength taken too much out of her?

My thoughts became a complete mess.

There was no time to stand there wondering.

"To the hospital!" The words burst out of my mouth before I even realized I had spoken. "Now!" I looked at my brothers desperately. "We have to take her to the hospital immediately!"

Leonard didn’t waste a single second.

Without waiting for anyone else to react, he carefully slipped one arm beneath Theresa’s knees and the other around her back.

Then he lifted her effortlessly into his arms. Holding her securely against his chest, he hurried toward the waiting car.

The rest of us followed closely behind.

The moment Leonard reached the vehicle, he quickly pulled the rear door open.

With the utmost care, he lowered Theresa onto the seat, making sure she was as comfortable as possible before climbing in beside her to support her.

I immediately moved toward the driver’s side.

My hand had barely reached the door when Lawrence suddenly caught my wrist.

"Lugard." He said, his voice firm but calm. "You aren’t calm enough to drive."

I looked at him, still overwhelmed by panic.

"Let me drive." He added.

For a brief moment, I couldn’t even argue.

He was right.

My hands were shaking far too much.

Without another word, I stepped aside.

Lawrence immediately slid into the driver’s seat.

The engine roared to life.

Moments later, the car sped away, racing straight toward the hospital with every second feeling far too slow.
