Chapter 120: Welcome home.

Ella.

It was finally the third day.

The day I had been dreading and anticipating in equal measure.

And now, despite everything, I was stepping into the Bloodfang Pack once again.

The moment I crossed the border, noise greeted me from every direction. The entire pack seemed alive with activity. Voices overlapped with one another, creating a constant buzz that filled the air. Servants hurried back and forth across the grounds, carrying flowers, fabrics, and decorations for the ceremony.

Some climbed ladders to hang banners while others rushed around with trays and boxes in their hands. Everywhere I looked, preparations were underway.

The pack house stood proudly at the center of it all, decorated far more lavishly than I remembered.

I pulled my nose mask higher over my face, making sure it covered as much of my features as possible.

The last thing I needed was someone recognizing me.

I couldn’t afford that.

My fingers briefly touched the edge of the mask as I adjusted it again.

A strange feeling settled in my chest as my eyes wandered across the familiar surroundings.

I still couldn’t believe I was here, back in this place....back in the pack I had once called home.

The pack I had left behind.

The pack that had left its scars on me.

For a brief moment, memories threatened to surface, but I pushed them away before they could fully form.

I wasn’t here for the past.

I had a reason for coming.

Drawing in a slow breath, I made my way toward the main pack house.

Thankfully, everyone seemed too busy with the preparations to pay much attention to me.

I kept my head lowered as I walked, moving through the bustling crowd without attracting notice.

Eventually, I reached the entrance.

My heart gave an uncomfortable thump against my chest, and then I stepped inside.

I had barely crossed the threshold when a pair of large arms suddenly wrapped around me from behind.

The unexpected contact made my entire body stiffen.

Alex.

I knew it immediately, as the familiar scent alone was enough to tell me who it was.

Before I could stop myself, I pulled away from the embrace.

The reaction was instinctive and almost violent.

His touch felt like hot iron against my skin, and every nerve in my body seemed to recoil from it.

I quickly created some distance between us.

"Welcome home, baby!" Alex said excitedly, as his face lit up with a smile as though he hadn’t noticed my reaction and then his eyes moved over me. "But where is your bag?" he asked, raising his brows.

I barely stopped myself from rolling my eyes. Instead, I forced my features into what I hoped looked like a pleasant smile.

The effort alone was exhausting.

"I left here with nothing," I said slowly, my voice remaining calm despite the emotions stirring beneath the surface and then I paused briefly before adding, "Do you expect me to return with anything?"

The smile on Alex’s face faltered, just slightly. I noticed the way he swallowed hard before letting out a nervous laugh.

"Are you still angry with me?" he asked.

I took a deep breath, mostly to control myself and mostly to keep certain thoughts exactly where they belonged.

Hidden.

"You are my husband," I replied, maintaining the fake smile on my face. "How can I be angry at you?"

For a second, relief flashed across his features.

"Thank you, baby!" Alex said immediately.

Before I could react, he grabbed both of my hands, his fingers wrapping around mine as he gently caressed them, his expression filled with obvious excitement.

I simply stood there, the smile still fixed on my lips, while every part of me struggled to endure the contact.

"Will I remain standing at the entrance?" I asked, doing my best to hide the irritation bubbling inside me as he continued holding my hands.

The longer his fingers remained wrapped around mine, the harder it became to maintain the smile plastered on my face.

"Of course not," Alex replied immediately.

A grin spread across his face.

The sight of it only made my irritation worse.

"Let me take you to your room," he added.

He stretched out one hand in a dramatic gesture, as though welcoming an honored guest rather than someone who had once left this place in humiliation and with absolutely nothing.

Without waiting for my response, he tightened his grip on my hand and guided me forward.

I walked beside him in silence.

Every step seemed to echo through memories I would rather forget.

Servants passed us occasionally, bowing their heads respectfully as we moved through the pack house.

Meanwhile, Alex looked far too pleased with himself.

Eventually, we reached a door.

My door.

Or at least, the room that had supposedly been prepared for me.

Alex’s smile widened, and then he pushed the door open.

The moment my eyes landed on the room, my legs stopped working.

I froze.

The entire room had been decorated beautifully, as elegant curtains framed the windows.

Fresh decorations had been arranged carefully around the furniture.

Everything looked polished and luxurious.

But that wasn’t what caught my attention.

Rose petals.

They were everywhere—Scattered across the floor, spread over the bed, lining the path from the entrance deeper into the room, bright red petals covered nearly every visible surface.

As if that wasn’t enough, an omega stood near the bed holding a massive bouquet of roses.

I simply stared.

For a moment, my brain refused to process what I was seeing.

Pop!

The sudden sound made me flinch.

Before I could react, several voices filled the room.

"Welcome back home, Luna!"

The servants positioned throughout the room spoke in perfect unison.

The greeting echoed against the walls.

A sharp pain immediately pulsed behind my eyes, as a split headache formed so quickly that it almost made me dizzy.

I closed my eyes briefly, trying to gather whatever patience I had left.

"Do you like it, baby?" Alex asked excitedly, his voice filled with anticipation, like a child eagerly waiting to be praised.

Slowly, I turned to look at him and then I frowned deeply.

At that moment, I simply couldn’t take it anymore.

There was absolutely no way, I was going anywhere near those roses.

"No, Alex!" I yelled.

The excitement vanished from his face instantly,as his expression paled so quickly it was almost impressive.

"I’m sorry, my love," he said hurriedly. "What can I do to—"

I didn’t let him finish.

"Take me to your room now!" I yelled.

The force of my voice shocked everyone into silence.

Alex’s eyes widened.

Panic immediately flashed across his face as he stared at me, completely caught off guard by my reaction.
