Chapter 118: MY WOLF.

Alex.

I have never been this happy in my life before. Not once, not even in the brightest moments of my past, had I felt this overwhelming sense of fulfillment settle in my chest the way it did now. I will definitely remember this birthday year of mine forever, I thought with certainty that almost made my pulse race in anticipation.

For it would mark the day Ella returns to my side, as my Luna and soon to be mother of my child. The thought alone sent a deep, steady warmth through me, one I could not suppress even if I tried. It felt like everything that had once been broken was finally aligning again, piece by piece, into something whole.

I will listen to her always and treat her like the queen she is. The words repeated in my mind like a vow I had carved into my very soul.

How could I not have realized that I really cannot live without Ella? The realization now felt painfully obvious, almost foolish that it had taken her absence for me to understand it so clearly.

She was the light in my life. Without her, everything had been dull, lifeless, and unbearably cold. Even the air in the pack house had felt heavier, as though it mourned her absence just as I did.

The moon goddess was finally on my side. I could feel it in the way everything seemed to be falling into place, as if unseen hands had begun to guide my path back to her. And I promise to make things right this time. No hesitation, no pride, no mistakes. Only her happiness, her comfort, her safety.

I would love Ella with all my life. The promise settled deep within me, firm and unshakable.

"Philip, ensure everything is in order!" I said the moment I stepped into the Pack house, my voice firm yet carrying an edge of urgency that I could not hide. I straightened slightly as I moved further inside, already scanning the surroundings as though expecting even the smallest error. "Guests of high profile will be attending, I don’t want to be perceived as incapable." I added, my tone lowering into controlled authority.

"Yes Alpha." Philip said, immediately falling into step beside me, his hands already moving as though mentally checking off tasks. "You seem to look so excited!" he added teasingly, though his usual dutiful tone briefly softened into familiarity.

I barely suppressed a faint exhale at his comment, but I did not deny it.

"Of course Philip, she is coming back to me!" I whispered, the words slipping out more honestly than I intended. The mere thought made my chest tighten with something close to relief and anticipation. "I miss her so dearly...I haven’t felt peace since she left Philip...I was a total idiot!"

The admission lingered in the air for a moment, heavy but truthful.

Philip chuckled lightly, shaking his head as though he had expected nothing less. "Glad you realized!" he said simply, but there was a knowing tone beneath it, as if he had been waiting for this moment all along.

I let out a slow breath, but my focus did not waver.

"Philip, ensure nothing goes wrong!" I said again, more firmly this time, my voice sharpening with emphasis. I needed everything perfect—nothing less would be acceptable. "Also, cross check the guest list and tighten the security." I added, my gaze hardening as the weight of responsibility settled back over me.

"I will surely do so!" he answered without hesitation, already turning to carry out the instructions.

Philip left, and I headed straight toward my room, my mind still weighed down with thoughts of preparation and the upcoming ceremony. But the moment I pushed the door open, I froze.

Eva was lying on my bed seductively, as if she had been waiting for me all along.

I immediately averted my gaze, irritation flashing through me in an instant. Her presence, her posture, the deliberate way she made herself comfortable in my space—it all unsettled me more than I cared to admit.

Never would have thought this day would come. The thought passed through my mind sharply, almost like a warning I had ignored for too long.

"Welcome baby!" Eva said, smiling sheepishly as if nothing about her position was inappropriate. Her voice was light, almost playful, as though she belonged there without question. "Were you able to convince her to come?" she asked innocently, tilting her head slightly as her eyes studied me.

I glanced at her immediately, my brows tightening. I did not tell her about my plans, so how did she know I went to see Ella? The question formed in my mind instantly, suspicion rising like smoke. I said nothing at first, watching her carefully, trying to read what she was not saying.

"Come, the ceremony is in three days and she isn’t in the Pack yet...aren’t you afraid of disappointing nobilities?" she asked again, this time with a hint of concern flashing across her face, though it felt rehearsed, almost too controlled.

I exhaled slowly and forced a smile onto my face, though it did not reach my eyes. "You seem too concerned about me disappointing them...do you want me to?" I asked, my voice calm but edged with something sharper as I took a deliberate step closer to her.

Eva’s smile deepened immediately, as though she had been waiting for that exact response. Without hesitation, she stood up from the bed and closed the remaining distance between us, her movements confident, unhurried.

She grabbed my collar and pulled me closer, her fingers tightening around the fabric as her breath brushed against my skin. The suddenness of it made my body stiffen for a second, my instincts reacting before my thoughts could settle.

I tried to speak, to question her, but I didn’t get the chance. She claimed my lips hungrily, cutting off whatever words I intended to say.

"Are you suspecting me baby?" she asked in between the kisses, her voice low and teasing, as if this was all some game between us.

For a moment, I was lost in the kiss. My wolf suddenly stirred hungrily within me, reacting in a way that irritated me more than anything else. It felt as though it had missed her scent, as though something in me still responded despite my hesitation.

And without realizing it, I grabbed her waist, pulling her closer, the action almost instinctive. But I froze midway through the motion when awareness crashed back into me.

Oh no!

Ella won’t be happy about this. The thought struck me sharply, cutting through the haze instantly. And Eva... she was in cahoots with Thomas. That reminder only made everything worse, twisting my chest with frustration.

Shit!

I immediately pulled away from the kiss, breaking the contact abruptly, and stared at her with visible disgust now settling on my expression.

"I’m tired, Eva, I need some rest!" I said flatly, my voice controlled but distant, as I stepped away from her completely. Without waiting for a response, I turned toward the bathroom, shutting myself off from her presence as I went in to cool off.
