Chapter 115: IN THREE DAYS.
ELLA.
"What are you saying, Theresa?" Lawrence’s voice was filled with disbelief as he took a quick step toward me.
His brows were furrowed deeply, and concern flashed across his face.
Before I could react, he reached for my hands, wrapping his fingers around them as though trying to stop me from making a mistake.
As though he hoped that if he could just get me to look at him, I would change my mind.
But I couldn’t.
I didn’t even meet his gaze, as my eyes remained fixed ahead. There were too many emotions swirling inside me already, too much frustration and too much pressure.
The triplets deserved an explanation, and they would get one later but not now. Right now, there was a bigger problem standing in front of me.
Alex.
The man was clearly determined not to leave without me.
Every word he had spoken since arriving made that painfully obvious and if I wanted this situation to calm down, I needed to give him something—some form of reassurance, something that would make him stop pushing and something that would make him leave peacefully.
Taking a deep breath, I gently pulled away and walked past Lawrence.
I could feel the triplets staring at me.
I could feel their confusion.
But I kept moving.
Step by step, I crossed the distance between Alex and me until I was standing directly in front of him and then I lifted my chin.
"In three days’ time, I will return to the Bloodfang pack house." I said firmly, as the words left my mouth confidently.
At least, they sounded confident but inside, however, my nerves were a mess and my heart was beating far faster than I wanted to admit.
Still, I forced myself to remain calm.
The moment Alex heard my words, his entire face lit up. "Why, baby?"
Before I could react, he immediately grabbed my hands, his grip was warm and eager, almost desperate.
"Why wait for three days?" he asked excitedly, his eyes sparkled with hope. "We can go now!"
I had to physically stop myself from rolling my eyes.
Seriously?
Was he even listening?
I took a slow breath.
"Alex, I can’t just pack all my things." I said, as I tried to keep my voice patient and reasonable. "I need to—"
But, as usual, he cut me off before I could finish.
"You won’t do the packing, Ella." He siad, as a bright smile spread across his face. "My men will."
I stared at him speechless.
"What did you even come here with?" he asked casually.
The question hit me like a slap.
The audacity of this man.
He knew exactly how I had left, he knew I hadn’t taken anything with me. He knew I had walked away from the pack house with virtually nothing, since I was a wanted criminal yet he stood there asking such a question.
Anger immediately flared inside me and my jaw tightened.
"Well, you should thank them for taking good care of me." My voice came out sharper than intended.
The smile on Alex’s face slowly faded.
I gestured toward the triplets.
"If not, you wouldn’t be standing here thinking of taking me back."
The words carried every ounce of hurt I had been trying to suppress, every ounce of resentment and the every ounce of pain.
I could feel tears threatening to gather in my eyes, as my vision blurred slightly but I refused to let them fall.
So I lifted my chin and fought them back with everything I had.
Alex stood completely still and for several long moments, he didn’t say a word, as he simply stared at me.
The confidence he had been carrying throughout the confrontation seemed to falter slightly as my words sank into him.
The room was unusually quiet, and even the men behind him remained motionless. I could practically see the thoughts running through his mind.
For once, he wasn’t arguing and he wasn’t interrupting...he seemed to actually be listening.
"Ella, about that..." His voice came out lower than before, less certain and less demanding, as a flicker of guilt crossed his face. "I am sorry."
The apology sounded genuine, as his eyes remained fixed on me.
"It’s all Eva... she—" He continued.
But I didn’t let him finish, especially not when the emotions inside me were already threatening to overwhelm me.
Before he could continue, I quickly lifted my hand and wiped away the tears that had stubbornly escaped despite my efforts to hold them back.
The warm tracks on my cheeks only irritated me further.
I hated crying, especially when I had spent so much effort trying to stay strong.
"Don’t let me change my mind, Alex." My voice came out firm, and stronger than I felt.
The warning was clear.
I needed him to leave, before this situation became even more complicated.
I lowered my hand and looked directly at him. "Now take your men and leave here." I said, as there was no room for negotiation nor argument. "I would come to you in three days."
The declaration echoed through the room.
Alex stared at me.
For a brief moment, it looked as though he wanted to protest, as though he wanted to insist on taking me with him immediately but then his shoulders relaxed slightly.
The stubborn determination in his eyes softened, as he seemed to realize that pushing any further would only make things worse.
"I trust you, Ella." He said, his voice was quiet and setady, filled with conviction, as a small smile tugged at his lips. "I know you would never deceive me."
The certainty in his words made my chest tighten.
Then he slowly took a step back. "I am leaving now."
The moment the words left his mouth, he raised a hand and signalled his men and Immediately, they obeyed without hesitation and without question.
One after another, they turned toward the exit.
Alex was the last to move, and his gaze had lingered on me briefly before he finally turned away.
Moments later, they were gone.
The mansion suddenly felt much quieter.
I released a breath I hadn’t realized I had been holding and then my eyes shifted toward the triplets.
They hadn’t moved, all three remained standing exactly where they were, as their gazes were fixed on me.
I could practically feel the questions swirling through their minds and they wanted answers.
But I wasn’t ready, because right now, I didn’t have the energy. Emotionally, I felt drained and completely exhausted.
All I wanted was a moment alone, so I could get just a little peace.
So without saying a word, I turned around and started toward the staircase.
One step and then another.
My mind was already focused on reaching my room.
But suddenly...I froze, as my feet stopped moving and my body stiffened instantly.
"And where do you think you are going?"
Their voices echoed through the room in perfect unison.
The question stopped me dead in my tracks.
