Chapter 114: Not leaving.

Alex.

There was absolutely no way I was leaving this place without Ella.

I had come here with a purpose, and I intended to accomplish it.

My gaze drifted toward her briefly before returning to the triplets standing between us.

A cold determination settled inside me.

Even if it meant causing bloodshed, I wasn’t walking away empty-handed.

The thought didn’t frighten me, If anything, it strengthened my resolve.

They all seemed to believe I had arrived with only six men and that would be their mistake.

I had originally planned to take Ella home peacefully...trust me, I had really wanted this to be simple—a conversation or rather a reconciliation.

But if they insisted on turning this into a battle, I wasn’t unprepared.

One call.

That was all it would take.

My backup men were already on standby, waiting and ready to move at a moment’s notice.

The thought brought a faint smile to my lips.

I slowly stepped forward.

The men who had shielded me earlier immediately shifted aside, allowing me to pass.

My movements were calm and deliberate and soon, I found myself standing directly before the triplets.

The tension in the room thickened instantly.

"Let’s behave like adults." I said, as I pressed a hand against my forehead and shook my head lightly. "It would really benefit us." I added, my voice remained calm despite the hostility surrounding me.

The situation was becoming ridiculous

My eyes found Ella once more and my chest tightened, because I was certain of one thing, she wanted to come with me.

The Ella I knew loved me, the Ella I knew would never willingly walk away from our marriage even if I had chased her—which meant someone was influencing her.

Someone was keeping her away from me.

My gaze shifted briefly toward the triplets.

They were the obvious answer.

What had they threatened her with?

What had they said to make her act this way?

Was it my life?

Had they convinced her that I would be harmed if she stayed with me?

Why else would divorce papers suddenly appear?

Why else would someone file for divorce on her behalf?

The more I thought about it, the more convinced I became.

She really loved me.

A smile tugged at my lips and then, before I could stop it, warmth crept into my cheeks and I actually blushed.

The mere thought of Ella loving me that deeply sent a strange satisfaction through my chest.

"Get out of here, Alex!" Leonard’s furious voice shattered my thoughts, as my attention snapped back to him and then he pointed aggressively toward the door. "I am losing my patience."

I sighed dramatically.

Honestly, I was beginning to lose mine too.

"How many times do I have to repeat it?" I said, as I rolled my eyes, the gesture earned even darker looks from the triplets. "Are you all deaf?"

The words had barely left my mouth when Leonard suddenly lunged forward, his hand shot out and grabbed the front of my collar.

The fabric tightened around my neck instantly.

Around us, my men reacted immediately, the five men who had accompanied me except Philip stepped forward. They were ready and alert, prepared to intervene.

But I raised my hand before they could make a move.

The signal stopped them instantly.

"Alpha!" Philip’s voice echoed through the room, as concern flashed across his face as he took a step forward.

I didn’t even look at him, as I simply lifted my hand again. A silent command to stop.

Philip immediately froze where he stood.

The room fell into a tense silence as Leonard continued gripping my collar while my men remained perfectly still, waiting for my next order.

I stared directly into Leonard’s eyes, eye ball to eye ball as neither of us looked away.

Truthfully, I had been wanting to put him in his place for a long time.

Far too long.

Ever since he started inserting himself into matters that had nothing to do with him, he had become a constant thorn in my side.

The problem was that Leonard seemed to have forgotten who he was dealing with or perhaps he had never truly understood it in the first place.

I needed him to understand and I needed him to realize that no matter how hard he tried, I would always come out on top.

A faint smile tugged at my lips.

Ever since I took over as the Alpha of Bloodfang Pack, I hadn’t properly displayed the full extent of my capabilities.

Many people underestimated me and many mistook my patience for weakness but that would change soon.

The world would see exactly what I was capable of. Bloodfang Pack would rise higher than it ever had before—We would subdue Ironclad Pack, we would rewrite history and we would change the way people viewed us forever.

The thought alone filled me with anticipation but that wasn’t the battle in front of me right now.

Right now, there was only one thing that mattered.

Ella.

And in that regard, I had already won.

The woman they were desperately trying to keep away from me was madly in love with me.

No matter how much they interfered, that fact wouldn’t change.

"Look here, Leonard," I said calmly, my voice remaining steady despite the hostility surrounding us.

I reached up and gripped his wrist before forcing his hand away from my shirt, and the fabric loosened immediately.

"You are already fighting a lost battle." I said calmly.

Leonard eyes blazed instantly. "Watch your mouth!" He yelled through gritted teeth, as the muscles in his jaw flexed dangerously. "Or else—"

"Or else what?" I cut him off without hesitation.

Before he could react, I grabbed the front of his collar. The movement was swift and deliberate. My fingers tightened around the fabric.

"Tell me, Leonard." I leaned slightly closer. "Ella is mine." I added, my voice dropping lower. "Legally mine." I smirked. "How exactly do you compete with that?"

The words struck a nerve.

I saw it immediately, as rage flashed across his face.

Without warning, Leonard shoved me backward. The force sent me stumbling a few steps away.

I barely had time to regain my balance before another figure charged forward.

Lurgard.

His face was twisted with fury. "You are a dead man, Alex!" He muttered, as his voice thundered throughout the room, as every word dripped with hostility.

For a moment, it seemed as though all restraint had vanished. As though the situation was finally about to explode.

But instead of feeling threatened, I laughed—a loud amused laugh.

"Am I?" I asked, my brow lifting mockingly.

The anger in the room intensified, as the atmosphere became charged and violent. One wrong move and blood would be spilled.

I could feel it and I am sure everyone could.

"Enough!" Ella’s voice suddenly cut through the chaos.

The room instantly fell silent, and every head turned toward her.

"I will attend the inauguration ceremony." She declared.

The declaration echoed through the room.

For a second, nobody moved nor spoke.

The reaction was immediate, as the color drained from the triplets’ faces. It was replaced by shock, disbelief and defeat.

It was all written clearly across their expressions.

Meanwhile, joy surged through me, as my chest swelled with satisfaction and I couldn’t stop the smile that spread across my face.

Lurgard’s grip loosened and the fire in his eyes faded.

Slowly, he released me completely, as the fight seemed to leave him all at once.

And as I looked at Ella, only one thought echoed in my mind.

I knew it.

I had known it all along.

Ella still loved me.
