Chapter 113: Take my wife and leave!
ELLA.
"Baby, that hurts." Alex’s voice softened noticeably as he slowly lowered his hand.
The sudden change in his tone caught me off guard.
Just moments ago, he had been radiating anger, his entire body tense with fury. Now, there was something almost vulnerable in his expression.
The shock on his face was unmistakable, his brows slowly drew together, forming a deep crease between them as though my words had genuinely wounded him.
As though what I had said hurt far more than any physical blow ever could.
For several seconds, he simply stared at me, his eyes searching my face, almost desperately, as if he were looking for some sign that I didn’t mean it.
That I would take the words back and that this was all some misunderstanding.
"You never say such words to me," he added quietly.
The pain in his voice was impossible to miss.
But instead of feeling sympathy, I felt exhaustion.
I rolled my eyes instantly, at that point, I was tired of everything—tired of his persistence, tired of his arrogance and tired of the way he kept forcing his way into my life.
Most of all, I was tired of how he continued acting as though none of the things that had happened between us mattered.
As though all the hurt, all the disappointment, and all the damage could simply be erased because he decided he wasn’t ready to let go.
I took a slow breath, the air felt heavy in my lungs and then I lifted my gaze and looked directly at him.
There was no hesitation in my eyes nor uncertainty.
"Look, Alex," I said firmly, my voice remaining calm and controlled, as there was no room for misunderstanding nor room for false hope. "I need you to stop addressing me like that."
The firmness in my tone caused his expression to tighten slightly.
Still, I continued, ignoring his pretense.
"It’s over between us." I added firmly, as the words left my mouth slowly and clearly.
Each one deliberate and carrying the weight of a decision I had already made.
Silence immediately followed. The kind that seemed to stretch endlessly between two people.
The words hung in the air long after they had been spoken.
For a brief moment, Alex simply stared at me and the confidence he usually carried seemed to disappear. Even the anger that had consumed him moments ago was gone, and all that remained was shock, as though he couldn’t quite believe what he had just heard.
Then movement beside me drew my attention.
Michael suddenly stepped forward and positioned himself directly in front of me. His posture was protective, almost as though he was trying to make a statement—trying to show Alex that he wasn’t backing down and trying to make it clear whose side he was on.
Unfortunately, his actions only seemed to fuel Alex’s anger.
I watched Alex’s expression darken instantly. The brief vulnerability that had appeared moments ago disappeared completely as his jaw tightened and his eyes narrowed.
Without saying another word, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
My brows furrowed in confusion.
What was he doing?
Alex pressed the phone against his ear, and the call connected almost immediately.
"Bring them in," he commanded coldly.
And then instantly, he ended the call without waiting for a response.
I stared at him completely puzzled.
Who exactly did he want to bring in?
And why was he acting so confident?
A strange feeling settled in my chest.
"Look, baby..." Alex began.
I immediately frowned at the nickname.
"We are going home today." He added, his voice carrying absolute certainty, as though the decision had already been made.
And as though my opinion didn’t matter nor did I have a choice in the matter.
My eyes widened. "What?" I echoed, the word slipping out of my mouth before I could stop it while I stared at him in disbelief. "You have to be joking."
There was no way he was serious—absolutely no way.
Refusing to entertain the conversation any further, I turned toward Michael, who was still standing protectively in front of me. I gently placed a hand on his arm and turned him to face me.
"I wouldn’t see you off, Michael." I paused briefly, as the exhaustion I felt suddenly weighed heavily on my shoulders. "I am going in."
Without waiting for a response from either man, I turned around. I didn’t spare Alex another glance, as I simply walked away.
Each step carried me farther from the tension outside—farther from Alex and farther from the argument.
The moment I stepped into the house, three familiar figures came rushing toward me almost immediately.
"Theresa!" They all called out in unison, as the triplets reached me within seconds.
"What took you so long, Theresa?" Leonard asked, concerned, filling his voice as he immediately grabbed my hand.
His fingers wrapped around mine gently, as he carefully caressed the back of my hand as though checking whether I was alright.
Lurgard moved closer and patted my back softly. The comforting gesture eased some of the tension trapped inside me.
Meanwhile, Lawrence reached toward my face. His fingers brushed through the air near my temple before he pushed back an invisible strand of hair.
The familiar gesture made my lips twitch slightly.
Without giving me any chance to protest, the three of them surrounded me protectively.
Then they gently guided me toward the sofa.
Moments later, I found myself seated comfortably while all three remained close beside me.
"Actually, Alex is here, and he is spouting nonsense." I said, the words left my lips the moment I settled comfortably onto the sofa.
I leaned back against the cushion and released a long breath, hoping to ease the tension that had been building inside me since the confrontation outside.
Unfortunately, the tension only seemed to grow.
"What the hell is that bastard doing here?" Lurgard’s voice exploded through the room almost instantly.
He shot to his feet, his expression darkening with anger, as his hands clenched tightly into fists at his sides.
The mere mention of Alex’s name seemed enough to ignite his temper and his jaw tightened as he glared toward the entrance.
"To take my wife home." The deep voice echoed through the room before anyone could say another word.
Every head turned immediately.
My breath caught in my throat, as Alex stood at the entrance but he wasn’t alone.
Five hefty men stood beside him. They were all intimidating in appearance, towering figures with stern expressions that immediately made their purpose clear.
I didn’t recognize any of them, none except one—Philip.
The moment my gaze landed on him, recognition flashed through me and the atmosphere in the room shifted instantly.
The triplets straightened.
Alex stepped forward confidently and the men beside him followed suit.
Then, to my surprise, all six of them bowed their heads simultaneously.
"Greetings, Luna." They echoed, their voices echoing in perfect unison.
The greeting filled the room and for a brief second, silence followed.
Leonard suddenly scoffed loudly, as the sound dripped with disdain. "Your wife isn’t here, Alex."
Leonard rose from his seat and took a step forward, his eyes blazed with irritation.
The moment he moved closer, however, the men standing beside Alex immediately shifted position. They stepped in front of him without hesitation, and their movements were swift and coordinated.
A clear warning.
A clear barrier.
Leonard’s expression darkened even further. "...so get out of my house!" he yelled, his voice thundering through the room.
But Alex remained completely unfazed. "No." He declared the single word in a calm, firm yet certain manner. "I am not leaving here without my wife." His gaze swept across the room before settling briefly on me. "And lest you forget, the inauguration ceremony is now in three days."
A slow smile appeared on his face.
The confidence in that smile irritated me immediately.
"All Alphas across the globe will be in attendance." Alex added, and his smile deepened.
The arrogance in his expression became even more obvious.
"Of course, my Luna has to be there." He muttered with full confidence.
"Of course your Luna would be there." Lawrence’s voice cut through the room instantly.
Everyone turned toward him.
He rose slowly from his seat and took a deliberate step forward, his eyes remaining fixed on Alex.
"And that’s Eva." He added, the declaration sharp and unwavering.
The room seemed to grow even quieter.
Lawrence folded his arms across his chest. "Now get out of my house while we still respect your status." He said, his tone icy, as every word carried a warning. "Or else you’ll be thrown out by security." He added firmly.
For a moment, nobody spoke.
And suddenly Alex broke the silence with an audible mocking and dismissive laughter. The sound echoed through the room.
"Security?" he asked, as one brow lifted slightly while amusement danced across his features. "Look here." He added, his gaze moving from Leonard to Lurgard, then to Lawrence, one after another as his confidence never wavered. "None of you can intimidate me."
The smile vanished from his face and then his eyes finally settled on me. A stubborn determination burned within them.
"I am not leaving without my wife." He added, as his voice dropped lower yet remained harder. "And that’s final."
