Chapter 462: A Lot Can Change In a Few Thousand Years

The young woman’s silver eyes sparkled with excitement and joy, and her dark skin seemed to glow in the late afternoon light.

"That’s the attitude, Tamar!" Titania chirped, fluttering her wings and flying over to the Amazon princess with obvious delight. "If you want to be like us, you have quite a lot to learn, my dear! But I think you have a lot of potential."

"Tamar dear, do try to never be like that lazy fairy queen if you want to be taken seriously by your people," Sakura drooped her eyes, ruing the fact that the meat had been completely devoured while she had been distracted gossiping with Elara.

She continued. "To lead your people effectively, you have to be both hard and soft in equal measure, knowing when to apply pressure and when to offer comfort. Have private relaxed moments like this where you can let your guard down and be yourself, and strict political moments when needed to remind everyone who is in charge. Balance is the key to successful leadership, though it is something that takes a while to master properly."

Tamar nodded her head profusely, her eyes wide with earnest attention as she received life advice from the all powerful Beast Queen of Shishi-no-su who has walked Elyndor for twelve thousand years.

The span of time was so vast that it was difficult for the Amazon princess to even comprehend.

The weight of that experience was not lost on her, and she absorbed every word as if it were sacred.

Her fingers fidgeted slightly with the edge of her leafy skirt, a nervous habit that revealed her excitement at being included in such esteemed company.

"Hmph!" Titania pouted at Sakura’s advice, her small hands planted firmly on her hips, her butterfly wings fluttering with agitation behind her. "I’ve been around way more than you in terms of raw years. And even though you’ve ruled more than me in terms of actual governance, I never did any real work and just played around all day!

"But still, Fairylynch is as good a civilization as Shishi-no-su is, if not better in some ways that matter! My face is on the money. Tamar, listen to me closely, all work and no play makes Elara a dumb chick who doesn’t know how to have fun or enjoy the simple pleasures of life!"

"Wh... Why is my name being casually mentioned in the conversation?" Elara raised a brow, her expression one of mild offense at being dragged into the debate.

"The reason Fairylynch has not become nothing more than an unruly playground of chaos and anarchy," Sakura moved her hand with grace and took hold of a silver cup filled with freshly and nicely squeezed grape juice, the liquid catching the afternoon light, "is because Vaelora-chan has basically been ruling it all this while, handling the actual governance while you flit about doing whatever pleases you in the moment."

"And so? What exactly is your point?" Titania put her hands on her waist defiantly, her small frame radiating an impressive amount of stubborn energy. "Lily and your officials usually do the work for you as well, no? You’re no different from me in that regard!"

"Kaaahhh!" Sakura downed all the wine in one go, a satisfied blush spreading along her face from the warmth of the drink. "It’s definitely missing a lot in the alcoholic station compared to what I’m used to, but this is still so unfair! It’s absolutely delicious, Elara-chan!"

"Hey, don’t ignore me when I’m making valid points! And Elara, my meat!" Titania buzzed and thrashed like a little girl throwing a tantrum, her wings beating against the air with increasing agitation. "I want more meat right now!"

"Indeed. We only indulge in wine quite occasionally, despite having access to it," Elara ignored Titania, grabbing her own cup of wine and swirling it gently, watching the liquid catch the light and create patterns on the walls. "Being taught by Mótsognir and not wanting to waste the knowledge imparted upon us, we’ve learned to appreciate moderation. But we Amazons consume more milk and honey than wine."

"Interesting..." Violette nodded her head slowly, seemingly reconciling what Elara just said with her own understanding.

Her expression was thoughtful, distant, as if she were comparing the present to a past that only she remembered clearly.

"Is something troubling you, Violette?" Elara asked her, concern flickering in her eyes as she noticed the pensive expression on the horned woman’s face, the way her gaze had grown distant and unfocused.

"No, I was just thinking about how things are different from five thousand years ago," she responded, her dark violet eyes breaking off from the distance as she returned her focus to the present. "Irina usually was extremely open to the world when I knew her, so wine and many other human delicacies flowed quickly into Verdant Spire without any restrictions or limitations.

"Maybe something happened when I was asleep that made things change so dramatically... And so things can change this much in just about four millennia, huh... It makes me wonder what else I’ve missed while I was unconscious."

"Actually, a lot can definitely change in that amount of time, more than you might expect," Sakura made a face that asks how Violette measures time at all, her expression one of amused disbelief. "And not only Irina-sama, basically the entire world became closed off when the Celestial War reached a particular peak. Though, only Verdant Spire remained this isolated after it ended."

Tamar watched the ongoing discussion with excited eyes, her silver irises reflecting the warm light of the room as if she was looking at real life legends from history... because she actually was.

These women surrounding her were the stuff of myths and stories, beings who had shaped the very fabric of Elyndor with their actions and decisions over millennia.

Their conversations, casual as they appeared, were filled with wisdom and experience that she could only dream of possessing one day.

"Uhm... I wanted to ask something important if that is fine..." Tamar raised a finger nervously, her voice hinting at hesitation that made her seem even younger than she was. "I don’t want to interrupt, but I’m curious about something."

"Go ahead, Tamar-chan! Ask me anything you wish to know," Sakura nodded, adjusting in her seat with her legs folding elegantly beneath her, her expression open and welcoming. "There are no stupid questions here, only opportunities to learn."

"Thank you very much. I wanted to know: are our sides really friends now, or...?" Tamar nervously asked, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her dress as she spoke. "I mean, some Amazons followed Princess Lily back to Shishi-no-su when she departed... Does that make us official allies? Or is it more complicated than that?"
