Chapter 619: Chapter 589: I’ll send you to Western Heaven!

The Bo Residence, Jinling Mansion.

"Dad, we’re running out of time! Let’s go! Please, let’s just go! Can we hide from that mad dog? We can’t wait any longer, it’s really too late!" Bao Qiudong pleaded, looking at the wall clock and speaking to Bo Xianmin in a panicked, disjointed torrent of words.

He had been repeating this same plea since ten o’clock, but Bo Xianmin hadn’t responded to him at all. The ashtray on the coffee table, however, was already overflowing with cigarette butts.

"Xianmin, say something!" his wife stammered from beside him, her whole body trembling. "What are we going to do? What in the world are we supposed to do?"

Before she understood the full scope of the situation, she had been frightened but not in disarray. Once she understood, she was both panicked and lost. After learning about Qin Fan’s various identities, her panic and confusion morphed into pure terror. Upon hearing Bo Xianmin say the higher-ups had abandoned them, her fear gave way to the trembling pleas she was making now.

Neither she nor Bao Qiudong dared to flee on their own. Without Bo Xianmin, they would have no special privileges to aid their escape. If they came face to face with Qin Fan, or even the men he sent after them, their only fate was a dead end. With this grim self-awareness, their only remaining option was to beg.

"Leave? Do you think we can?" Snuffing out another cigarette, Bo Xianmin continued in a hoarse voice, "Right now, all of Jinling is watching this place. If we make the slightest move, do you really think no one would report it? Do you think no one would seize this chance to curry favor with Qin Fan? When a great tree falls, the monkeys scatter; once you’re out of power, your allies grow cold. Rather than struggling in vain like stray dogs, it’s better to wait here. At the very least, we can still hold onto a sliver of hope for a miracle from Beijing!"

"Dad, he’ll kill us! He’ll definitely kill us! We can’t just wait here to die, we absolutely can’t!" Hearing Bo Xianmin’s words, Bao Qiudong scrambled to his feet and stumbled backward, screaming in ever-growing terror.

"If only you had known then what you know now... If it wasn’t for your foolishness, would things have ever gotten to this point? Forget it. There’s no point talking about it now. What’s fated to be will be. If a storm is coming, let it come." Resigned to his fate, Bo Xianmin buried his face in his hands. He looked as if he had aged ten years in the last two hours. All his strength seemed to drain out of him at that moment, and his body went limp on the sofa.

"No, no, no! I don’t want to die! I don’t want to die! If you won’t leave, then I will!" Having lost his grip on all logic, Bao Qiudong shook his head and cried out. He staggered back, then turned and bolted for the main door.

"Qiudong!" his wife shrieked, leaping up from the sofa in alarm.

"Let him go. If my life can ensure the continuation of the Bo family line, then it’s worth it," Bo Xianmin said, his face pale.

His wife, who had been about to chase after her son, froze.

Yes... If the two of us could take on this calamity for Qiudong, what would death matter?

When it came to their children, parents would always put themselves last. Even though Bao Qiudong had brought this disaster upon them, Bo Xianmin and his wife were now willing to pay his karmic debt, if only it were possible.

BANG!

Bao Qiudong slammed the door behind him. His stumbling figure, muttering to himself as if possessed, entered the elevator. Clasping his hands in constant, murmured prayer, he looked like a madman.

DING!

A moment later, the elevator reached the ground floor. As the doors opened, Bao Qiudong scrambled out in a rush.

"The Bo family is finished!"

"The Bo family is finished!"

"The Bo family is finished!"

In the surrounding buildings, many sleepless residents stood on their balconies, watching the lone figure flee under the lights. They all shook their heads and sighed, lamenting that the foundation the Bo family had built over generations was now destroyed in an instant, their very lives hanging by a thread.

「Meanwhile, outside the mansion.」

Qin Fan’s figure drew steadily closer. He didn’t use his unnatural speed to bring things to a quick end. He had said he would arrive at the stroke of midnight, and he would be neither early nor late.

TICK!

As the first second past midnight ticked over, Qin Fan’s precisely timed steps crossed the mansion’s gate line.

"I am Qin Fan. I’m here to collect a debt," he said calmly to the two specially-trained security guards standing watch.

The two guards, standing rigidly at attention, merely blinked without a word. They had already received their orders.

Seeing the two men remain as motionless as statues, Qin Fan gave an expressionless nod. The next moment, he soared into the air, clearing the two-meter-tall electronic gate with a single leap.

Just as Qin Fan landed inside the grounds, Bao Qiudong started his car. The headlights flashed on. He wrenched the steering wheel hard and stomped on the accelerator. The car roared to life and shot forward.

But there, illuminated at the far end of the headlight beams, was the cold, imposing figure of Qin Fan, walking slowly toward him.

SCREECH!

The moment he saw Qin Fan, Bao Qiudong instinctively slammed on the brakes.

"No, no, no!" he babbled, shaking his head as he watched Qin Fan’s unhurried advance.

Suddenly, the terror on his face twisted into a ferocious snarl. A crazed look warped his features.

"Qin Fan, I’ll fucking send you to the Western Heaven!"

With a trembling, hysterical voice, his sweaty palms tightened on the steering wheel. Aiming directly at the approaching Qin Fan, Bao Qiudong floored the accelerator. The engine screamed as its RPMs shot up, and the exhaust pipe roared. The car hurtled forward with suicidal abandon.

In response, Qin Fan merely offered a cold, sinister smile. He didn’t dodge. He just kept walking.

However, as the car barreled closer, the sight of Qin Fan standing his ground, that cold smile playing on his lips, made Bao Qiudong’s heart hammer in his chest.

A sense of ominous despair washed over him. Suddenly, all he wanted to do was slam on the brakes.

But at such a close distance, there was no time for the brakes to do anything. Like a primordial fierce beast, the car closed the short distance at a terrifying speed and slammed into Qin Fan.

But in the next instant, Bao Qiudong froze in the driver’s seat, as motionless as if struck by lightning. Not only him, but the car, which had been at a high speed just a moment ago, was also completely still. In that split second, Qin Fan had simply reached out and placed a hand on the car’s hood, instantly bringing the entire vehicle to a dead stop, unable to move forward another inch. If not for the continued roar of the exhaust pipe, anyone would have thought the car had simply broken down.

Forgetting that reverse gear even existed, Bao Qiudong’s foot, still pressed to the floor, began to tremble.

The next second, unable to believe what he was seeing, he let out a yell driven by pure instinct. He frantically pushed the car door open and, without a second thought, scrambled out and ran back the way he came in a mad dash.

For anyone facing such terror, such utter despair, the first thought is always of home. The only thought is to get back home.
