Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Meeting With The Guest 7
Beta Felix’s eyes narrowed as he continued calculating the situation in his mind. "The moment the first shot lands, Alpha Nathan will definitely notice all of you. And once he does, his anger will explode toward whoever dares attack him."
His voice turned colder. "But if there are multiple shooters firing from different directions, he’ll have too many targets to deal with at once. Even for an Alpha, choosing who to pursue first and taking action will still take time."
In truth, that brief moment of hesitation was exactly what Beta Felix needed.
Every second Alpha Nathan wasted tracking one shooter down would give the others another opportunity to fire additional sedative rounds into his body. It was a dangerous strategy, one that practically turned the shooters into bait, but against a monster like Nathan in his current state, there were no safe options to begin with.
"Or better yet," Beta Felix continued after a moment of thought, his eyes darkening as he refined the dangerous plan in his head, "all of you should fire at the exact same time. That way, the sedative will enter the Alpha’s system all at once and take effect much faster."
His voice remained calm and steady despite the absurd risk behind his words. "The moment you shoot, immediately scatter and run in different directions. Don’t stay in one place for even a second."
Beta Felix paused briefly before adding another instruction. "If the first round of sedatives still isn’t enough to bring him down, then wait for my command before firing again. Don’t act recklessly on your own." His brows furrowed as he calculated every possible outcome. "Doing it this way will give all of you a much higher chance of surviving."
However, even as he said that, Beta Felix knew the plan carried another terrifying problem.
If Alpha Nathan failed to catch the shooters after they fled, then the Alpha’s fury would inevitably shift toward the warriors closest to him instead.
And unfortunately, that meant them.
A bitter expression crossed Beta Felix’s face before he quickly added, "But before any of you fire, wait for my signal first. The warriors surrounding the Alpha and I will need time to retreat as well."
He let out a slow breath, already imagining the bloody consequences if their timing failed. "Otherwise, if he can’t catch you people..." Felix’s voice lowered grimly, "...then he’ll tear the rest of us apart instead."
"Understood, Beta Felix," the warehouse manager replied, his voice no less nervous than before.
The moment the mindlink connection was severed, he sprang into action. Wasting no time, he gathered the fastest and most agile warriors available and assigned them as shooters for the operation.
Within minutes, the selected men scattered across the area, each moving toward a carefully chosen firing position roughly three hundred meters from where their Alpha Nathan stood.
Some climbed the tallest trees they could find, concealing themselves among thick branches and leaves. Others scaled the highest buildings within the community, positioning themselves on rooftops with a clear line of sight toward the raging Alpha. One after another, they settled into place and lay flat, rifles aimed and ready as they waited for the signal to fire.
The warehouse manager was among them.
Taking position atop a building, he slowly raised his rifle and peered through the scope. His heart hammered violently against his chest, threatening to shake his concentration. He forced himself to take deep breaths, knowing that even the slightest tremor in his hands could cause his shot to miss its mark.
This operation was already dangerous enough without mistakes.
The three-hundred-meter distance had been carefully chosen. It was far enough that Nathan would not be able to reach any shooter immediately after the first volley, buying them precious seconds to abandon their positions and flee.
At the same time, it wasn’t so far that wind resistance and distance would significantly affect the accuracy of their shots. No matter how terrifyingly fast their Alpha was, three hundred meters was still a considerable distance. By the time Nathan reached any of their firing locations, the shooters would hopefully be long gone.
Still, knowing that fact did little to calm the fear clawing at the warehouse manager’s chest.
After confirming through the mindlink that every shooter had reached their assigned position and was ready, he swallowed hard and contacted Beta Felix once more.
"Beta Felix," he reported, his voice tense but steady, "all shooters are in position. We await your command."
"Good," Beta Felix replied after receiving the report.
His gaze shifted toward the warriors surrounding Nathan before settling on Maddison. Knowing they had already delayed long enough, he strode toward her and crouched down beside the tree.
"Luna Maddison, I apologize for the inconvenience and for my disrespect, but please bear with me for a little while longer."
There was urgency in his voice. He did not even wait for her response. Time was no longer on their side, and every second increased the risk of Nathan noticing that something was amiss. Carefully but swiftly, Felix slipped one arm beneath Maddison’s knees and another behind her back before lifting her into his arms.
The moment she was secured against his chest, he sprang to his feet and bolted away.
At the same time, his mindlink spread across the nearby warriors.
"Everyone, run! Scatter in every direction as fast as you can!"
The command exploded through their minds like thunder. Without hesitation, the surrounding warriors obeyed, immediately breaking formation and fleeing in different directions.
For a brief moment, Nathan seemed caught off guard by the sudden movement. It was all the opening Felix needed.
When he judged that they had created enough distance, he sent the signal through the mindlink.
"Now."
Hundreds of meters away, hidden among treetops and rooftops, the waiting shooters instantly reacted.
Nathan, however, was still trapped within his frenzy. The terrifying Alpha, who normally possessed sharp instincts and exceptional strategic awareness, was currently operating on little more than rage and primal impulses.
His rational mind had long been drowned beneath his fury, making his reactions noticeably slower than usual. He noticed the fleeing warriors and prepared to give chase, his massive wolf body tensing to launch forward.
Then he felt it.
A series of sharp stings erupted across his body.
One.
Two.
Five.
It felt as though countless needles had pierced through his thick hide simultaneously.
Nathan’s massive wolf body abruptly halted mid-motion. A low growl rumbled from his throat as he twisted his head sideways. His blood-red eyes narrowed when he saw several dart-like projectiles embedded in his shoulders, flanks, and hindquarters.
More protruded from different parts of his body, having struck him from multiple directions at once.
For a heartbeat, the forest fell eerily silent.
Then realization slowly dawned within those furious crimson eyes.
Someone had dared to sedate an Alpha.
The moment Nathan noticed the sedative darts protruding from his body, his fury erupted to an entirely new level.
"ROOOAAARRR!!!"
The thunderous growl shook the surrounding area, sending birds scattering from the trees and causing even the distant warriors to pale. His crimson eyes blazed with murderous rage as every muscle in his enormous wolf body tensed.
Despite the sedatives coursing through his veins, he still looked more than capable of tearing through anyone unfortunate enough to stand in his path.
