Chapter 174: Chapter 102: Sea Witch Sabeck

What?

Writing too slow?

Too slow means you get flamed!

With so few updates a day, do you even want to make money anymore?

Sean remained perfectly calm. "Don’t worry. I’ve already muted the group chat."

Yisha was speechless.

’Just what I’d expect from my teacher.’

"That’s enough chitchat. Let’s go meet the Chairman and the others," Elise said after a while, glancing at her watch. They had arranged to meet tonight to discuss their next steps.

Just then, Kate called and gave Sean the address. "Zone C, hotel room 1001."

"Alright, we’re on our way," Sean replied.

They were already in Zone C.

Ten minutes later, the group arrived at the hotel.

Room 1001 was a presidential suite with a dedicated living room. As Sean and the others entered, they saw Sopea and Kate, along with two unfamiliar faces.

One of them was Adelf, who wasn’t a complete stranger. After all, Sean had already seen the kind and steady old man through a statue.

The other man was not as old as Adelf, somewhere between middle-aged and elderly. He sat on the sofa with his eyes closed, exuding a profound and sharp aura. His hair was slightly disheveled, which made his neat suit look out of place. He didn’t normally wear suits; he had only changed into business attire for this trip to hide his identity, pretending to be meeting someone for business.

"Good evening, Mr. Adelf." Sean first greeted Adelf with a smile, then turned to the older man in the suit. "And you must be the Chairman of the Long Night Union, Mr. Night Watcher?"

The Night Watcher didn’t make a sound.

He didn’t even open his eyes.

Standing beside him, the corner of Sopea’s mouth twitched.

He couldn’t resist poking the man, trying to signal that someone was talking to him and he should answer.

But the Night Watcher remained completely still.

Like an old monk deep in meditation.

’Who do they think I am?’

’In this life, I am the Chairman of the Long Night Union, the largest Wizard Organization in Krim State.’

’In my past life, I was even a Librarian at the Holy Temple Library.’

’This junior, Sean, dares to speak to me without even introducing himself first. He has no manners at all.’

’I don’t like impolite people.’

Sopea sighed internally.

’Someone’s about to make the same mistake I did.’

Sean, having been immediately snubbed by the Night Watcher, wasn’t angry. He just smiled and found a place to sit.

Elvire, on the other hand, let out a soft but cold snort. "No wonder he’s the Chairman. He’s even grumpier than Sopea."

Sopea was speechless.

’Why do I keep catching stray bullets lately?’

Elvire was different from Kate. She was still young, and more importantly, she was someone Lord Blake had taken a liking to. Sopea naturally wouldn’t get upset with her, nor did he have the energy for it. His mind was entirely focused on hoping Sean wouldn’t get angry, because Elvire was right—the Night Watcher was even grumpier than him.

But the world has a funny way of working. The more you fear something, the more likely it is to happen.

Just as Sean sat down on the sofa and gestured for Elvire to sit as well, the Night Watcher across from them suddenly spoke, his voice cold.

"Who told you to sit?"

"Are you qualified to sit here?"

’Can’t you see that even Sopea and Kate are standing?’

Sean: "?"

Elvire: "?"

Sopea was speechless.

His eyelid twitched violently.

’It’s over. It’s all over.’

He had been thinking that if the chat went well tonight, he might find a chance to ask Sean if he could reveal his identity to the Night Watcher. For one, the Night Watcher was trustworthy. In their past lives, the two of them were "colleagues," though the Night Watcher’s status was higher. Sopea had merely been an instructor, while the Night Watcher was sweeping floors in the library.

For another, keeping a secret was actually a very draining affair.

Everyone has the desire to confide in someone. Just as Sopea often told Koni his old stories, he desperately wanted someone with whom he could share the secret of Lord Blake’s true identity.

Before they came, Sopea had even used the presence of Mr. Adelf from the Dawn Council as a reason to ask the Night Watcher to be more "polite." But who would have thought he’d immediately try to intimidate Lord Blake...

’You’ve gone too far, my Chairman!’

’You’re courting death!’

But in truth, Sean wasn’t too bothered.

While the old coot’s disrespect was a bit awkward, it also indirectly proved that Sopea was trustworthy. He hadn’t leaked Sean’s identity to anyone, not even his own Chairman of the Long Night Union.

Elvire, however, was tempted to get sarcastic.

’He’s just one of Carl Black’s subordinates, what’s with the attitude?’

’In terms of status, I’m Carl Black’s sister-in-law!’

Fortunately, Adelf spoke up in time to smooth things over. "Alright, alright, we’re all on the same side here. No need for such formalities."

His words were clearly in support of Sean and Elvire; after all, they really were "on the same side."

"Kate, Elise, you two sit as well," Adelf said with a smile.

Elise blinked. "Thank you, Mr. Chairman."

The Night Watcher said nothing more, merely letting out another cold snort.

Fine beads of sweat broke out on Sopea’s forehead. He was already trying to figure out how to explain this to Sean later.

Everyone took their seats.

Adelf nodded at Kate, who spoke first. "Before we officially discuss the plan, I need to remind everyone that we aren’t the only ones aboard the Jimmyria right now."

Sean paused. "What do you mean?"

’A ship this big, isn’t it normal for there to be other people?’

"I’m talking about Wizards," Kate said.

Including the crew, the Jimmyria carries about 9,600 people each time it sets sail. A scan by a Smell Crow revealed that about 2,500 of them possess Magic Power. The Long Night Union and the Dawn Council only have 2,400 Wizards here this time, meaning there’s an excess of nearly 100 people.

"Could the news have been leaked?" Elise asked with a frown.

’But that doesn’t seem right, thinking about it.’

If the Witch Hunters had discovered an operation on this scale, they wouldn’t have sent only a hundred people.

Especially with Mr. Adelf and the Night Watcher here in person, a hundred people wouldn’t be enough to even slow them down. Who could they possibly stop?

It would be far too condescending.

But if the news didn’t get out, then what are these hundred Wizards here for?

Don’t tell me it’s a coincidence and they’re just here on vacation. No one here believed in coincidences.

"Do we know their objective?" Sean asked.

Kate shook his head. "It’s unclear. To avoid alerting the enemy, I haven’t made any direct contact with them."

The Smell Crow was hidden in my pocket the whole time I was scanning. I also used a Witch Potion to change my appearance and gender. They probably don’t know we exist yet.

"Let’s just ignore them for now," Sopea said.

The matter of the Kovri Ruins is the most important thing. We should avoid creating unnecessary complications if we can.

Sean nodded. "Then we’ll be more careful from now on and wear disguises, too."

He wasn’t afraid of trouble, but he didn’t want to make things difficult for himself either. Fighting all day long was exhausting.

They had just taken care of Zajik a few days ago. For the time being, as long as this group of Witch Hunters didn’t provoke him, he wouldn’t go looking for them. He didn’t have the time.

But unfortunately for them, Sabeck had time.

A lot of time.

If all went according to plan, this would be the final job of his Witch Hunter career.

After this, he could wash his hands of it all and enjoy the pleasures brought by wealth and status.

Therefore, he charged into room 1001 without hesitation.

With key figures like Sean, the Flame Crow, and the Light Attendant all present, it was the perfect opportunity to catch them all in one fell swoop!

And so—

BAM!

Just as Sean and the others were discussing how to best avoid the notice of these other Wizards, the door was suddenly and violently kicked open.

A squad of crewmen in sailor uniforms filed in, each holding a weapon. Like an intelligence agency making an arrest, they swarmed directly into the living room, fanned out, and surrounded Sean’s group on the sofa.

Before they could react, Sabeck strolled in elegantly, a cigar dangling from his lips.

"Mr. Sean, Miss Flame Crow..."

"And to everyone else present, good evening."

"Welcome to the Jimmyria."

"Allow me to introduce myself. This is Grey Bird Logistics, and I am your private butler for this journey. I’m responsible for welcoming you, chatting with you, and seeing you to your deaths."

"My name is Sabek Piande."

"As fellow Wizards, you may also call me by another name—"

"The Sea Witch."
