Chapter 150: Chapter 91: "I Found Them!
"Taking out the minions will just draw out the boss. There’s no need," Sean said. "Besides, we didn’t come here to fight."
Elvire: "That’s true."
"Give me a minute."
The shock of seeing the Holy Temple Ruins was too great; she’d forgotten what she was supposed to be doing.
To be honest, Elvire had always been skeptical of Sean’s claim that the "Hall of Truth still exists in this world." Even when Sean brought up Blake, it hadn’t changed her mind.
Because she wasn’t like Elise.
Or like Kate and the others.
Almost everyone else saw Blake as an "idol," a spiritual leader. But Elvire was different. She had actually met Blake in the past and didn’t see him through rose-tinted glasses. Never mind Sean, who was just a messenger—even if Blake himself had appeared and told her the Holy Sanctuary still existed, she would have questioned him all the same.
Elvire only believed what she saw with her own eyes.
She had searched for the site of the Holy Sanctuary before but had never found a single clue.
How could a city as large as Kovri be completely hidden?
That was why she didn’t believe the Holy Sanctuary still existed.
By the same token, it was because she was now experiencing it firsthand—seeing the collapsed Holy Sanctuary, the broken statues—that she was changing her mind.
Although this was the Meditation World, and everything was an image conjured by her and Sean’s Mental Power, it served as indirect proof of Sean’s experiences.
On an emotional level, Elvire wanted to believe Sean. But that was just her personality—reason usually won out over emotion. Especially when it came to important matters, her approach was always to question first and believe later.
Having calmed down, Elvire quickly sorted through her thoughts.
She looked up at Sean. "I want to change our objective."
Sean didn’t understand. "Change our objective?"
"Mhm," Elvire nodded. "Forget about autophagy."
Their original goal had been to find something symbolizing cellular autophagy and alter its process, thereby increasing their internal Basic Magic Power. But now, Elvire believed the Holy Temple Ruins were more important than a single Meditation session.
The fact that Sean could so easily lead her away from the Holy Sanctuary and hide in this house meant that everything here was identical to the real Holy Temple Ruins he had visited.
At least, that’s how it seemed for now.
This, then, was an excellent opportunity to confirm the Holy Sanctuary’s true location.
Sean had just been a shut-in writer before, while she had been fighting against Witch Hunters since she was young. She had been to far more places than Sean. If she could just learn about the area’s geography, climate, or any nearby landmarks and local products, she could pinpoint the general location of the Kovri Ruins. Once they reached Alvess, they could take a boat directly there to find the real Holy Sanctuary.
A successful Meditation could only empower one person, but finding the Holy Sanctuary could empower countless others.
It would be of immense help to all Wizards.
Even if the Holy Sanctuary was now deserted, with no books or materials left, its mere existence would give everyone confidence.
Don’t forget, faith and spirit are also forms of Power.
Therefore, Elvire chose to give up on the Meditation.
But she wouldn’t force Sean to join her.
After all, for an individual Wizard, doing this was tantamount to wasting time.
A few days wasn’t a long time, but it wasn’t short, either. A person doesn’t get many "few days" in their lifetime. Besides, Sean’s Talent was so high; perhaps these few days were all he needed for his Magic Power to surge.
"You can go find Elise now. You two can start a new Meditation. I can handle things here on my own," Elvire said.
Sean: "Huh?"
’Did I hear her right?’
’Elvire is actually telling me to go find Elise?’
"I’m serious," Elvire said, looking him in the eye.
Surveying the environment was something one person could do alone. They would be more efficient if they each worked on their own tasks.
Sean asked doubtfully, "If I leave, won’t the Meditation World collapse?"
’Isn’t this a Spiritual World constructed by both him and Elvire?’
Elvire said irritably, "Did you even read the book properly?"
"Were you too busy translating your ’Cuddle to Sleep’ story, huh?"
The book clearly stated that once a "New World" was created, it would replace the Wizard’s original meditation scene. From then on, whether they continued meditating together or meditated alone, they would always go to the "New World." It would only change if they switched partners.
In other words, the "New World" belonged to the two of them. As long as one of them was present, it wouldn’t collapse.
"Got it," Sean said with understanding.
"Go on," Elvire said, waving him away. "This time I won’t get jeal—... angry."
But Sean refused. "I’m not going."
Elvire: "Why not? You want to waste time here with me?"
"That sentence is grammatically incorrect," Sean corrected her. "As a writer of great substance, I can responsibly inform you that the phrases ’being with you’ and ’wasting time’ are mutually exclusive. They cannot appear in the same sentence."
"How could being with you ever be called a waste of time?"
Elvire: "...?"
’There he goes again with those smooth lines, completely out of nowhere.’
’Although Elvire hated to admit it, she was a little charmed. She hadn’t actually wanted Sean to leave in the first place. As for why she’d tell him to go find Elise when she didn’t want him to... aren’t all girls like that?’
Her face slightly flushed, she turned away and huffed. "I’m being serious with you. Stop with the sweet talk."
"This is serious. I’m really not leaving," Sean said earnestly. "Last time, only my eyes came here, so I couldn’t do anything. This is a perfect chance to get to know this place properly with you."
’Not being stuck in a statue this time makes everything much more convenient.’
’Like "treasure hunting" in the Holy Temple Ruins.’
’Even if he found any real treasures, he wouldn’t be able to take them with him, but he could memorize their locations. Then, once they found the real Holy Sanctuary, they could come dig them up.’
’In theory, this conflicted with how the Meditation World was formed. The "New World" was constructed from his and Elvire’s cognition and shouldn’t contain anything beyond their knowledge. Yet Sean felt it wasn’t that simple.’
’Take the soldiers who were just chasing them. He hadn’t seen them the last time he was in the Kovri Ruins.’
’Maybe he’d just missed them? Were they not patrolling the area at the time?’
’Or were these soldiers new elements generated by the "New World" itself?’
’Either way, this was fundamentally something "beyond cognition."’
"That officer just now called this place a restricted zone. Did you hear him?" Sean asked.
Elvire nodded. "That’s why I’m more inclined to believe in its authenticity."
Calling a deliberately hidden place a "restricted zone" made perfect sense.
"It’s just that their outfits are a bit strange," Sean mused. "Very old-fashioned."
’It looked like the style from the Era of Polymath. They were probably from some ancient family.’
"We’ll find out if we catch one and ask." Elvire was planning to grab a few of them. Before making a move, she asked one last time, "Are you sure you’re not leaving?"
"Is that even a question?" Sean grabbed the girl’s hand directly. "Let’s go. Time to meet those shameless bastards who actually thought they could kill us..."
But Elvire stood rooted to the spot, staring intently at Sean. "If we’re going, we’re going. Why are you holding my hand?"
Sean, lacking justification but full of bravado, shot back, "Well, you didn’t pull away, did you?"
Elvire: "?"
’I didn’t pull away because you were behaving well just now, saying all the right things. Wasn’t that your reward?’
’And now he has the nerve to question me back... I shouldn’t be so nice to this guy!’
’He can forget about ever holding my hand again!’
Elvire shook Sean’s hand off and said fiercely, "Get handsy again and watch me beat you up!"
Girls were like that—happy one moment, angry the next.
Unfortunately, someone was about to walk right into the line of fire.
BANG!
As the two were talking, the room’s dilapidated wooden door was suddenly kicked open with great force, landing flat on the floor and kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
"I knew you hadn’t gotten far."
A soldier stood in the doorway, the light of genius twinkling in his eyes. Eager to share the credit with his comrades, he shouted, "Over here! I’ve found them!"
