Chapter 151: Chapter 92: Holy Temple Remnants

The soldier had yet to learn that sometimes, being the first to find the "criminal" isn’t a good thing.

Especially when you’re just a grunt, and the other party is the boss.

The other soldiers didn’t understand this either. Hearing their comrade shout that he’d found them, they exchanged glances and immediately turned to charge over. They ran as fast as they could, afraid that if they were a step too late, they’d miss out on the credit.

Normally, very few people came to the restricted zone. After all, it was strictly forbidden by the Church Court. The consequences for defying the ban were severe; under normal circumstances, no one would dare. Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be their own life on the line—their family would very likely be implicated as well.

Therefore, this patrol duty was essentially a dead-end job with no prospects, making it difficult to earn any merits.

Today, two audacious individuals had finally trespassed in the restricted zone, so of course, the soldiers had to show some initiative.

And so, the sound of rumbling footsteps echoed.

Dozens of soldiers scrambled over one another as they rushed into the small alley.

Catching the intruders meant a cash reward, and a reward meant they could go home and have a good new year. And if, by some chance, they could unearth a bigger conspiracy—if the families behind these two truly harbored dissent toward the Church Court and were Heretics who worshipped Blake—then the resulting merit would be enough for them to live on for the rest of their lives!

Some who had been soldiers for over a decade even started to daydream, as if they could see their own brilliant futures unfolding.

It couldn’t be helped. Who could blame them, when their job was so mundane and uninteresting?

Patrolling day in and day out for ten years had long since become tedious and boring. Yet, it wasn’t easy to switch jobs; after all, it was a secure gig. Now that an opportunity for merit and promotion had appeared, it would be strange if they weren’t excited.

That is, until they actually reached the alley and completely surrounded the house where Sean and Elvire were.

"BANG!"

"OUCH!"

The glass shattered.

A figure flew out of the house with a scream, smashing through the window. He landed heavily on the ground and rolled two and a half times before coming to a stop.

The soldiers looked over. Wasn’t that the very comrade who had just shouted that he’d found them?

The next second, Sean and Elvire appeared.

They hadn’t climbed through the window; they’d used the Wall-Piercing Spell to instantly teleport out.

As the noble Lord Blake and the second young lady of the Blazing Angel Family, Sean believed it was necessary for him and the girl to maintain a certain elegance at all times.

A soldier came to his senses and roared, "You dare fight back?!"

"Don’t you know that resisting arrest will only add to your crimes?"

The soldier on the ground scrambled up, cursing, "What are you wasting time talking for? Get them!"

These two were unusually skilled and could even walk through walls. If they let them get away, not only would they miss out on the merit, they might even be blamed for the failure.

The Knight of Klintor’s favorite saying was, "If you can’t even handle this, what the hell good are you?"

"Charge!"

The lead soldier roared, charging first. He drew the saber from his waist and led the others in a swarm.

Thirty-five against two. The advantage was theirs!

However, things took a completely opposite turn.

Facing a mob of grunts baying for her and her good friend’s blood, Elvire showed no mercy. Without Sean even needing to lift a finger, the girl gave a cold snort and, with a wave of her hand, conjured a violent torrent of fire out of thin air. It crashed toward the soldiers like a tidal wave, blasting the ones at the very front off their feet.

The flames slammed into the soldiers, exploding with immense Magic Power. The scattered sparks flew back, coalescing before the girl into a Flaming Giant Sword. Elvire gripped the hilt and charged back into the crowd, her figure moving so fast that even Sean could barely follow it. All he could hear were endless cries of pain.

"AHH!"

"UGH!"

"ARGH!"

The girl nimbly dodged the incoming blades, weaving through the crowd. Each swing of her Giant Sword stirred up roiling flames. Before the blaze died down in one spot, another inferno would erupt elsewhere. After just a few moves, the remaining embers formed a spinning tornado of fire, which then exploded with a BOOM, blasting all the soldiers away.

In less than twenty seconds, all thirty-five soldiers had been struck down. Not a single one was left standing.

"You thought you could catch me with this level of skill?"

Elvire gazed at the soldiers lying and rolling on the ground around them. She dismissed the Giant Sword, dusted off her hands, and let out a light huff. "Go back and train for a few more years."

’So this is what it feels like to get carried?’

Sean gave the girl a thumbs-up.

He hadn’t participated in the slightest—he wasn’t even the one who’d sent the first soldier flying—but he felt inexplicably thrilled.

Elvire caught Sean’s gesture out of the corner of her eye, and her chin lifted even higher, like a proud little swan.

"You... Don’t celebrate too soon!"

A soldier spat through gritted teeth, "Lord Klintor won’t let you get away with this!"

’This was their territory. Not only had they trespassed in the restricted zone, but they had also resisted arrest and attacked the guards. Two people bullying a whole group of them! Once Lord Klintor arrived, he’d definitely teach these two lawless punks a lesson they wouldn’t forget!’

Klintor did not disappoint.

The soldier’s voice had barely faded when he arrived on the scene.

It was the same middle-aged man who had been giving orders to the soldiers earlier.

On the chest of his standard-issue Soft Armor, he wore a Silver Medal engraved with a horse’s head, symbolizing his noble status.

He was a Knight.

Seeing all of his men struck down on the ground, Klintor’s eyes narrowed to slits, revealing a murderous intent. Combined with his powerful build, he radiated a threatening aura.

"This is treason!"

This accusation was clearly on a different level than the soldier’s "resisting arrest."

Klintor stared at Elvire, slowly drawing the Knight’s Longsword from his waist.

"Surrender now, and I won’t kill you."

"Should I be thanking you for that?"

Elvire sneered. Not wasting another word on him, she immediately began casting a Forbidden Spell.

She didn’t know Klintor’s Tier, but for him to have become a Knight with Wizards serving under him, his Tier couldn’t be low. So, she immediately went all out.
