Chapter 125: Chapter 80: "The More the Enemy Tries to Stop Me, the More It Proves I’m Doing the Right Thing

Except to her.

"Do you know what it means to kill someone in New Eldo?" Elvire asked.

Sean thought for a moment, then answered, "That my Glory Level goes up?"

Elvire: "?"

"It’s not just your Glory Level that goes up. It’s also the probability that you’ll be walking down the street one day and suddenly get taken out."

Sean had already broken through to Tier Three. Combined with his Talent and potential, he could just barely be considered a prospective High-tier Wizard. Evading a warrant might not be too difficult for him now, but it would be far from easy, especially after his Wanted Level and the corresponding bounty increased.

This was something anyone who was frequently wanted knew. Once the price on your head reached a certain amount, you’d find that the whole world was full of your enemies. Guns weren’t even banned in many regions. For the sake of your head—a prize that could make someone a millionaire or even a multi-millionaire overnight—they could pull a piece out of their pocket and plug you at any time.

Don’t doubt it. In this era of simple and honest folk, the citizens were truly capable of such things.

There were precedents for this, and quite a few of them at that.

Someone had once done the math: for every one hundred Wanted Criminals, more than sixty were executed by enthusiastic citizens who weren’t public officials. The average annual bounty paid out by the various state governments for this amounted to several million.

Sean had a sudden whimsical idea. "Say, you think I could turn in my own head to collect the bounty?"

Everyone: "?"

Elise: "Forgive my forwardness, Mr. Sean, but which head are you referring to?"

Everyone: "..."

Sean shot her a look. "The one on my neck, of course."

"So you want to be a Headless Knight?" Elise said, amused. "How are you going to collect the bounty from the police department if you don’t have a head?"

"Don’t you worry about that. I have my ways," Sean said, feigning impatience. "Getting back to the topic at hand, since we’ve decided to press on, the question now is how."

The plane had crashed just a few minutes after takeoff. They were still in Siracle State, basically back where they started and still a long way from New Eldo. The safest option would be to take a detour. After all, all roads lead to Rome. To get to World’s End, they didn’t necessarily have to pass through New Eldo.

But Sean was a stubborn person.

He’d already stated his reasoning earlier: the more you tell me not to go, the more I want to go.

Besides, he still had a score to settle with those bastards for this sneak attack.

"I agree," Kate was the first to declare, shooting Sean an appreciative glance.

’No wonder Lord Blake thinks so highly of Sean,’ he thought. He also liked Sean’s personality—the kind that doesn’t hold a grudge.

He typically got his revenge on the spot. There was no "it’s not too late for revenge even after ten years," only "all day, every day."

New Eldo was indeed very dangerous, true. You could even say it was one of the most dangerous places in the world for Wizards. The faction that was even more powerful than the Florist Family was probably hidden there. At the same time, however, it was also the safest place in the world for Wizards, because New Eldo didn’t permit violent conflict. That was a rule they had set themselves; they wouldn’t slap their own faces.

Sopea, however, remained silent.

His silence was his approval.

Lante glanced at Sopea, thinking, ’His relationship with Sean must be more than just simple ’friendship.’’ But he didn’t dwell on it. It was rude to speculate wildly about other people’s relationships, so he just asked a single question to show where he stood.

"How are we going to get there?"

The only modes of transport were plane, train, or car. A ship was also an option, but it couldn’t go directly to New Eldo. After leaving the port, they’d still have to pick one of the three.

"A car is safest," Yisha said. "I have a driver’s license. I can drive one."

But Kate thought cars were too slow. How long would it take to drive several thousand kilometers?

"I still suggest a plane," he said.

Yisha: "?"

"Haven’t you learned your lesson?"

Kate retorted, "Then let me ask you, why do you think a car is the safest?"

"Because we can drive it ourselves, of course," Yisha said. "We rent a car, inspect it thoroughly—who could possibly tamper with it right under our noses?"

Kate: "So the key point is driving it ourselves."

Yisha nodded. "Right."

Kate: "What if we could fly the plane ourselves, then?"

Yisha: "?"

Sean immediately realized what Kate was getting at and gave him a strange look. "Don’t tell me you’re thinking of buying another plane."

"No, not buying one this time."

Kate paused, then added, "Because I already have one."

He turned and instructed his female secretary, "Liss, call the butler. Have him contact the airport. We take off in two days."

"Yes, boss." The secretary took out her phone.

Sean: "?"

Everyone: "..."

They had still underestimated this guy’s wealth.

He could even afford a plane. Just how rich was he?

Kate said with a nonchalant expression, "I don’t usually fly it. It’s too much trouble."

Everyone rolled their eyes in unison.

’Keep showing off, why don’t you.’

And just like that, the itinerary was settled. The route remained unchanged: first, New Elderidge.

Kate started calling everyone over to help carry the alcohol.

They had already paid for it all. They had to pick a few good bottles to take with them, or it would be a total loss.

Elvire, however, was still a little worried. She pulled Sean aside, planning to have another word with him.

But before she could speak, Sean looked at the wound on her face and asked, "Does it hurt?"

"It’s fine," Elvire said. "Don’t you dare touch it."

Sean: "..."

’Does she have to be so vigilant? I haven’t even moved my hand yet.’

"Aren’t you afraid it’ll leave a scar?" Sean asked.

Elvire raised a shapely eyebrow. "What, are you trying to say I won’t be beautiful with a scar?"

"Not at all," Sean said. "You’ll still be beautiful with a scar, just even more special than before."

Elvire snorted. "Men and their words."

It wasn’t that she didn’t care about her appearance—what girl doesn’t want to be beautiful? It was just that a small wound like this would heal in a few days with a bit of Magic Potion, leaving no trace behind. There was no need to be dramatic.

She got down to business with Sean. "When we get to New Eldo, don’t do anything reckless. I’m serious."

Although their opponents wouldn’t initiate violence in New Eldo, that didn’t mean they wouldn’t retaliate. If Sean’s group killed someone first, they would definitely be hunted down. The situation there was incredibly deep and murky. Even though she had an informant within the Florist Family—and a high-ranking one at that—she still hadn’t figured out who the power behind the Florist Family was, or how many High-tier Hunters they had.

Blindly provoking an unknown enemy was not a wise choice.

But Sean shook his head. "You’ve got one thing wrong."

"They are the ones who provoked us first."

"Besides, trust me."

Sean looked at the young woman and said, "The person I want to kill is someone you want to kill, too."

Elvire didn’t immediately understand. "Who?"

"Zajik," Sean said. "Regardless of whether he was the one who attacked us or was involved in it, he’ll sooner or later find out we’ve left Alola Town for New Eldo. If you were him, would you pass up this opportunity?"

She wouldn’t.

Zajik would definitely go to New Eldo and wait for them.

"Oh, him." Elvire had been investigating Zajik’s whereabouts this whole time, but progress was slow. The guy was better at hiding than she’d imagined. If it weren’t for this trip with Sean to find the ruins of the Holy Sanctuary, she would have already thrown out some bait to lure the snake out of its hole.

If Zajik really dared to show his face, then she would take back the words of caution she’d just given Sean.

"Then kill him," Elvire said.

Acting recklessly once in a while was actually pretty exciting, wasn’t it?

And Sean’s guess was indeed correct.

Zajik was, in fact, already waiting for him in New Eldo.

However, "waiting" wasn’t quite the right word.

It was less that he was waiting and more that he had been in New Eldo the entire time. He hadn’t left since he was summoned by the Clan Leader, which was why Elvire hadn’t been able to find any news of him.

For the past half-month, he had been studying diligently every single moment.

Not only was he studying, but he was also supervising his subordinates’ studies.

It was only yesterday that he had finally completed all the contents of the workbooks.

The current him was terrifyingly strong!

If the hospital incident were to happen again, and Sean were to cast that labyrinth in front of him once more, he was confident he could break it with sheer force!

And in no more than three minutes.

For Sean’s sake, he had spent these fifteen days and nights doing exercises more diligently than he had ever attended class in his youth.

And as luck would have it, he received news today that Sean was coming to New Eldo.

"Good. Very good!"

Surrounded by a pile of books, Zajik abruptly raised his head. A new pair of gold-rimmed reading glasses sat on the bridge of his nose. Beneath the thick lenses, his eyes glinted with a sharp light, and in their depths was a killing intent so thick it was suffocating.

This time, he would make sure Sean never returned!
