Chapter 122: Chapter 79: Plane Crash

The plane flew across the blue sky as large swathes of white clouds receded outside the window.

This scene, reminiscent of life itself passing by, should have been a magnificent sight for a first-time flyer. Instead, it was utterly shattered by a sudden terrorist attack.

Sean didn’t know if his life was passing by, but he was certainly on the verge of passing away.

Several "terrorists," disguised as passengers with their heads down reading newspapers, directly detonated the explosives on their bodies.

Without a shred of hesitation.

"BOOM!"

The violent explosion thundered through the sky.

In that instant, Sean saw a scorching Flame Wave, like a tsunami. It was a crimson flood, and just a second after erupting, the churning, scalding flames tore through the passenger cabin. The resulting shockwave shattered the windows on both sides.

The plane had just entered the clouds and hadn’t yet emerged when it suddenly became a massive Fireball.

Onlookers near the airport looked up, feeling as if a second sun had appeared in the sky.

"Isn’t that the flight that just took off?"

"What’s going on?!"

"Could it be terrorists??"

The crowd was aghast.

Every year on the Day of Abstinence, someone tried to stir up trouble. Boger had warned everyone about this long ago. They thought this time was the same—another anti-human terrorist attack on society launched by those fanatical Heretics.

If only it were that simple.

Inside the cabin.

The moment Kate cried "This is bad!", Elvire was instantly in front of Sean.

A Giant Sword, also forged from flames, was held inverted in her hand, its point on the floor. Amidst the flickering firelight, it coalesced into a curved barrier, shielding both Sean and herself behind it.

And in front of Elvire was Sopea, who had appeared almost via Instant Teleportation to stand between the flames and the group.

His eyes were as black as ink as Magic Power surged wildly from his body. With an ancient Spell, he actually managed to forcefully "pause" the surging Flame Wave.

"Youzhe Macq... Credor!"

Vortex Spell.

This wasn’t a true Time Stop. His Magic Power was simply so immense that it infused the air, forcefully creating a vortex of wind with tremendous suction that temporarily "held" the rushing Flame Wave in place.

"Go, now! I can’t hold this for long!"

Sopea said sharply.

He had never been a Wizard who excelled at direct combat, but he was the highest Tier among them all. He had to step up.

Whether it was Sean or Koni, he absolutely could not allow any harm to come to them.

"Damned Witch Hunters!"

Kate cursed; he and the Witch also sprang into action the moment they reacted.

One of them used light as a blade, cleaving through the oncoming, rolling flames.

The other threw a large bottle of Magic Potion. The completely clear, water-like liquid, aided by a Magic Spell, rapidly condensed into ice, forming lotuses of snow that canceled each other out with the fire.

Lante was also not skilled in combat; this was the limit of what he could do.

In terms of head-on fighting ability, he was probably no match for Elise and Yisha, who were unleashing their Magic Power to conjure layer upon layer of Shields.

If it were ordinary explosives, this would have been enough.

But these explosives were no ordinary matter.

The searing temperature of the flames seemed capable of consuming everything. It effortlessly melted the Magic Shields constructed by Elise and Yisha, instantly shattering the glowing circles and the Barrier that had just formed at the two women’s feet.

The fire only grew more ferocious.

Even Sopea’s vortex was about to lose its grip on the surging flames.

"Tea Branch Powder... It’s Tea Branch Powder!"

As an Alchemy Master, Lante quickly identified the unusual scent in the air and couldn’t help but curse, "Those bastards added Tea Branch Powder to the explosives!"

As the name implied, it was a powder ground from a plant. It acted as an accelerant, and at the same time, it added another fuel to the flames besides oxygen—Magic Power.

In other words, flames ignited by Tea Branch Powder could, to a certain extent, "devour" a Wizard’s Magic Power, growing stronger as the Wizard’s power weakened.

These explosives were custom-made specifically for Wizards!

"Sean, go!"

Elise couldn’t afford to hesitate. At a signal from Elvire, she grabbed Sean’s hand and leaped out of a shattered window. The plane was now plummeting like a meteor. The intense winds from the imbalanced descent blew their hair straight up, and the scorching airflow struck their faces, stinging like a blade dipped in fire.

The wind was so strong Sean could barely open his eyes. ’Everyone else is a High-tier Wizard, and their reactions are all faster than mine.’ It was only now that he managed to get out his first words: "What about them?"

Elise shouted, "Every man for himself!"

Sean: "?"

"Let’s worry about ourselves first!" Elise said.

They were in free fall, tumbling through the sky. Just to answer Sean, she had sucked in a couple of mouthfuls of wind, making her head spin for a moment.

’This isn’t like what you see in the movies,’ she thought.

In films, when the main characters jump from a crashing plane, they usually land in the ocean and even have time to grab a parachute. But their plane hadn’t traveled far; it was still over land. They had no time to look for parachutes. What awaited them was the hard ground, solid enough to smash them to bits.

Fortunately, Elise was a battle-hardened "veteran," long accustomed to all sorts of emergencies. She held Sean tightly, not caring if he could breathe, and forced them into a new position with herself on the bottom.

Their landing point was a hillside—or it was probably a hillside; Elise wasn’t sure. She had no time to worry about the details. Holding her breath, she let the rushing air whip her hair into a frenzy. The wind contorted her normally beautiful face, making her cheeks ripple, until they were about twenty meters from the ground. Then, she finally spoke—
