Chapter 121: Chapter 78: "Boom!
Sabeck didn’t know what this faction was like. At his current level, he wasn’t qualified to learn the details. But he was certain this faction was real and located right in New Eldo. They were the true Spokespersons for the "Master" worshipped by billions of believers.
Sabeck didn’t know if Sean had heard about any of this.
If he had, then Sean was knowingly walking right into the lion’s den.
As the very center of power, even on the surface, you could see the core members of the great families from every state in New Elderidge. The unassuming old man you pass on the street might just be an elder of some major family, or even a Clan Leader.
Fighting is forbidden in the New Eldo City Area. The "Master" dislikes conflict, and this is one of the inviolable tenets. Even the most vicious criminals never dared to cause trouble in New Eldo.
But outside the city limits, all bets were off.
Once Sean and his group’s identities were exposed, they would face a siege from the great families. This was a perfect opportunity for Sabeck’s people to "join the fun" and bide their time.
Just imagine: if a group that even the great families couldn’t handle was ultimately taken down by Grey Bird Logistics, what would the "Master" think?
Who knew? "Grey Bird" could become the name of the next great family, and he would no longer be Mr. Sabeck, but Clan Leader Sabeck.
Sabeck usually gave off the impression of being extremely cautious, always steering clear of danger. But it was precisely this type of person who became the boldest when they decided to take a risk.
The main reason was the sheer size of the potential reward, plus the fact that someone else was taking the vanguard. If the situation proved impossible, he could just slip away, return to where he came from, and pretend he’d never met Sean. But if he could capture this band of High-tier Wizards, he would surely get a piece of the glory. At the very least, he had to show his face.
On the other hand, Sabeck also felt he couldn’t be such a coward.
’What’s the point of living if you don’t have some spine?’
’Sean isn’t Carl Black. He’s not so intimidating that I wouldn’t even dare approach him.’
’Sean, the prey, dares to go to New Eldo. How could I, the Hunter, not dare to follow?’
"What’s that saying again?"
"If the enemy dares to go, so can I!" Sabeck declared, psyching himself up.
His subordinate said timidly, "Mr. Sabeck, I don’t think that’s how you use that phrase..."
Sabeck: "?"
’I finally manage to sound educated for once, so can you please shut your goddamn mouth?’
"Say one more word and see if I don’t shove my leather shoe in your mouth," Sabeck said viciously. "Buy the tickets! To New Elderidge!"
"Yes, sir!"
...
「Meanwhile.」
At Kendili International Airport, the plane had already taken off.
The intel Sabeck received was inaccurate. There were more than seven people with Sean.
But you couldn’t blame the subordinate, since even Sean himself hadn’t expected so many people. He had only bought seven tickets: for Elvire, Elise, Sopea, Kate, Lante, Yisha, and himself.
Charles’s Tier was too low, so Sean hadn’t asked him to come, afraid he wouldn’t be able to protect him if they ran into danger. Besides, Charles had his own jobs to do.
As for Koni, Sean didn’t invite her either because they didn’t know each other very well yet.
But Sopea was hoping this trip would be a chance for Koni and Sean to get better acquainted, so he bought another ticket himself and brought his daughter along.
Kate, hearing that they would be gone for a while and traveling far, also bought a ticket for his female secretary so she could take care of his daily needs as the company president.
So, the correct number of people was nine.
And aside from Sean, all of them were Tier Four or higher.
This included one Tier Six.
With such a stacked lineup, Sean felt there was nowhere they couldn’t go.
Elvire, on the other hand, didn’t realize Sean had only invited acquaintances until they were on the plane. Where were the "beautiful neighbor" and "cute fan" he’d mentioned?
"Liar," Elvire spat.
’Even though I’d already guessed this was just his way of goading me, I still have to call him out. The only reason he’d do something like this is because he thinks I care about him. Which I don’t—not one bit! I’m only here to further my training with the Book of Ancient Language. Otherwise, who would give a damn about this narcissist?’
"Is it possible that the beautiful neighbor and cute fan I mentioned were both you?" Sean said with a wink.
Elvire: "?"
"My house in the small town is in the same neighborhood as yours," Sean said, then looked at Elise. "Miss Elise helped me arrange it."
Elvire immediately shot her good friend a look that screamed "traitor." "How come I didn’t know about this?"
Elise also winked. "I wanted it to be a surprise."
"More like a nasty shock," Elvire said with a look of disdain. "And for the record, I’m not your fan."
Sean pulled two autographed books from his travel case. He handed one to Elvire and the other to Elise.
"Now you are," he said.
He had promised this to the two women. He’d left the book signing in a hurry back then and had forgotten to grab a few extra copies. He had just bought these at a bookstore yesterday and signed them on the spot.
"Hmph. Who’d want this." Elvire took the book, flipped it open for a look, then tossed it aside.
She just so happened to misjudge her toss, and it landed right in the handbag she had placed on the seat behind her.
"Nice shot," Sean praised.
Elvire said, expressionless, "I’ll throw it away again properly after we get off the plane."
"Alright," Sean said. "You might not admit to being my neighbor or my fan, but surely you’ll accept the ’beautiful’ and ’cute’ part? It’s the truth, and I’ll believe it whether you agree or not."
Elvire: "..."
Elise: "..."
’This guy is so smooth.’
Such a direct compliment didn’t feel awkward in the slightest. On the contrary, it was so unexpected that it made their hearts flutter.
This time, Elvire didn’t argue back.
She just shot Sean a glare, her face slightly flushed.
’Smooth-talker. I wonder who he learned that from.’
To "draw a clear line," Elvire hadn’t sat with Sean. The seat next to him was occupied by Yisha. The young girl was currently chewing on her pen, engrossed in solving problems.
Yisha had mentioned wanting to learn the Truth Technique last time, so Sean had her buy a few workbooks. She still hadn’t finished them, and the plane taking off did nothing to distract her from her passion for studying.
Just then, Kate and his secretary walked over from first class. He frowned at the three of them chatting and said, "Something’s not right."
Sean: "Hm?"
"First class is empty too," Kate said.
He’d felt that there were too few passengers on this flight when he first boarded. At the time, he thought it was just because they’d boarded early and many people hadn’t arrived yet, so he didn’t think much of it. But after the plane took off, Kate got up to use the restroom and realized there were still only a dozen or so people on board.
Besides their group, there were only a few other passengers with their heads buried in magazines.
First class was also empty.
There were enough empty seats that they could be used to hold bags.
Normally, Kate wouldn’t have thought much of it. But this was the Day of Abstinence holiday period. New Eldo was the center of the world and a famous tourist destination. How could a flight to New Eldo possibly have so few people?
As soon as Kate said this, Elise also realized something was wrong. Her eyes narrowed as she scanned the few other passengers in the cabin. She turned to Sopea, who was in another row, and said, "Mr. Dream Builder, would you mind checking them?"
Dream Magic was related to a person’s inner mind and was essentially a type of Mind Magic. However, Sopea wasn’t as skilled at interrogation as a Lie Breaker. Unless he personally performed an Entering the Dream, it was possible for a Tier Four or even a Tier Three to deceive him. But if the subjects were just ordinary people, he would have no problem.
So, Sopea unbuckled his seatbelt and stood up. The pupils in his eyes began to shrink while his irises expanded until his eyes turned completely pitch-black. A vast ocean of Mental Power surged out from him, rolling directly toward the few passengers reading their newspapers.
Theoretically, if they were normal people, they wouldn’t be able to detect this. Mental Power is formless and colorless; only a Wizard can sense it.
But before the Mental Power could even touch them, one of the passengers suddenly looked up, a mocking smile on his lips.
"As expected of a Light Attendant. Quick on the uptake."
"A pity it’s too late."
As he spoke, the other passengers seemed to receive a command, all of them lowering their newspapers and standing up.
They unzipped their jackets and tore open their shirts, revealing bundles of dynamite strapped to their bodies!
"This is bad!" Kate’s expression changed drastically.
The words had barely left his lips when a massive explosion pierced his eardrums.
BOOM!
