Chapter 109: Chapter 73: Holy Sanctuary Ruins
"This is... the Hall of Truth?"
And a physical Hall of Truth, one that actually exists in the Real World??
Sean’s brain was in a knot.
This wasn’t the first time he’d experienced something like this.
First, he had fallen asleep in a car and woken up in a desert. Then, during Meditation, he had ended up in Daeli’s bedroom and gotten into a fight with Elvire’s older sister. This time, logging out of the Void Technique Space had sent him to yet another place...
Sean knew without a doubt that he was no longer in his home country.
At least, not in Siracle State.
Based on his last experience, this was most likely Kovri.
But with the passage of time, the world had changed. This city was no longer prosperous and bustling. In its place was a deathly stillness. He didn’t know what it had endured—perhaps a natural disaster, a war, or perhaps it was simply drowned by the river of time, its former legendary glory faded, leaving only rubble behind.
The Kovri of today seemed to have been completely reduced to an abandoned, ruined city.
Coupled with the gloomy sky, it looked even more desolate and forlorn.
At this moment, Sean was just like Yisha when she first saw the Maze of Truth, or when her Magic Power was later stolen right in front of her—his head was filled with questions.
But Yisha was luckier than him. When she didn’t understand something, she could ask him. Sean, however, had no one to turn to with his questions.
Aside from the collapsed and dilapidated buildings, there wasn’t a soul in sight—not even a ghost.
The worst part was, he couldn’t move.
Sean admitted he sometimes liked being passive, but being passive wasn’t the same as being immobile.
The statue he now occupied seemed to be broken. The Array and Truth Technique inside were incomplete, making him unable to control the statue or make any substantial movements.
Sean still didn’t know how to get out.
This place was different from the Void Technique Space.
The Void Technique Space was a Spiritual World, and he was its master. There, a single thought was all it took for his spiritual form to exit the statue. He could then re-enter with a simple touch.
However, that same method didn’t work on this statue.
No matter how much Sean screamed in his mind, even shouting his "voice" hoarse, he was still inside the statue.
It was as if his body had fused with the statue.
This led to an absurd and outlandish thought that Sean couldn’t suppress.
’Could it be that my entering the statue caused the Void Technique Space to register the statue itself as a "Wizard"? So when I logged off, the statue logged off, bringing me to the statue’s "logged-in" location?’
Sean: "..."
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.
It seemed he had used the statue to exploit some kind of bug.
On its own, this was a good thing—he had found the real-world ruins of the Hall of Truth. This was undoubtedly news big enough to shock the entire Wizarding World.
You couldn’t take things out of the Void Technique Space; even reading had to be done "online." But a real Holy Sanctuary was different. If he could find any treasures left behind from the Era of Polymath in these ruins, they would be tangible gains. Their value would be immeasurable. Perhaps, following the "mathematics" trend, this could spark a new wave of "archaeology."
And yet, he couldn’t leave the statue or even make it move. It was like having a delicious cake dangling just out of reach—so close he could see it, but unable to take a bite. The frustration was driving Sean mad.
’What should I do?’
Sean racked his brain.
He’d always thought that while he might not be a genius, he wasn’t stupid either. He could usually think his way to a decent solution for most problems. But this time, his gears were grinding to a halt. The main problem was being trapped inside the statue with a fixed, unadjustable, forward-facing view. He couldn’t even tell what was behind him, much less gather more information about the Kovri Ruins.
Rationally, Sean knew his current situation could be considered quite fortunate.
After so many years, the statue still hadn’t been buried. Otherwise, this "log-off" could very well have been a permanent one.
The statue didn’t need to breathe, but he did.
Right now, Sean desperately hoped someone would show up—an archaeologist, maybe. Even a Tomb Raider would do. Anyone to carry this statue out and let him see the world. His geography was pretty good; he’d even reviewed it specifically to create a map for a novel he was writing. He might be able to figure out what country he was in.
And so, Sean chose to wait patiently.
Then again, it wasn’t as if he had any other choice.
He could, of course, re-enter the Void Technique Space, leave the statue, and then log off. That would likely return him to Alola Town. But Sean was afraid that if he went back, he wouldn’t be able to return. This world was a vast place. He couldn’t just go searching for it again from scratch. With his current Magic proficiency, he couldn’t even fly yet; he could walk until his feet bled and still come up empty-handed. Therefore, merely knowing that the Sanctuary of Truth still existed wasn’t enough. He needed more clues about the Kovri Ruins.
And speaking of Magic, it suddenly dawned on Sean that while he was trapped in the statue, his Magic Power wasn’t sealed. One of the reasons the statue couldn’t move was its sheer size and weight, and the fact that his limbs weren’t actually connected to the statue’s. If he could lighten the statue’s weight and a strong gust of wind came along, perhaps it could be blown over.
As it happened, he had learned two minor spells in his spare time that fit the bill.
One was "Light as a Feather."
