Chapter 107: Lead to enter Main Quest
"So what do you want to talk about?" Vlad asked as Sophia left through the door, the last one to exit the office, leaving only him and Seraphina inside.
Raphael had taken Chloe with him to meet the members of the Discipline Squad that she would be working with from now on.
Seraphina shifted her eyes from the documents on her table, fixing them on Vlad who sat on the opposite side. "Have you heard about the Quest system of the academy?" she asked, her voice surprisingly serious for once.
"The academy offers quests to the students and rewards them with credits after they successfully finish them," Vlad answered, relaying what he knew about the quests. It was strangely similar to the Legacy System that gave him rewards for completing its own tasks. The only difference was that the quests he received from the system were completely random and unpredictable.
Seraphina gave a slight nod before explaining further, "The quests are ranked from D, like helping a professor collect herbs or running an errand for them, to higher ranks like B or A, which involve fighting monsters or clearing dungeons. The higher the difficulty, the more rewards you receive upon completion."
She placed her elbows on the table, her chin resting on her intertwined fingers as she continued, "On very rare occasions, like once or twice a year, the academy offers S-Ranked quests."
She took her phone out from her pocket and handed it to Vlad, where the details of a quest were displayed on the screen.

Vlad became more shocked and confused as he read through the details of the quest, his eyes widening and his lips parting in disbelief. What could possibly be the difficulty of a quest that offered such an insane number of credits for completing it? More importantly, what exactly was the Dark Continent? It was the first time Vlad had ever heard that name.
Seraphina knew he would have such expressions, so she continued before he could ask the obvious questions. "You will learn about the Dark Continent after reaching the second semester, or at least that is the official rule."
He raised an eyebrow at her last words.
"You can also learn about it in the first semester if you become a Sentinel Knight," she revealed.
"The information sure is interesting, but why are you telling me all this?" Vlad asked, handing her phone back.
"After students reach their third year, mages enter the Mage Tower, where they conduct deeper research on magic," Seraphina revealed. "I would have also entered the Mage Tower in a year, but when you became my Bloodbound, my powers increased greatly. The academy has allowed me to enter the tower from next semester."
"That’s wonderful news," Vlad exclaimed, looking a way too happy than he should have been. "Congratulations."
Seraphina gave him a side-eye, clearly understanding why he was being so cheerful. If she entered the Mage Tower, he would be saved from being her errand boy.
She shook her head, deciding to let go of his transgression for now. "I want to finish at least one S-Ranked quest before entering the Mage Tower," she declared firmly. "But Father said I can only accept this quest if you also participate in it."
Now this came as a complete shock to Vlad, his head flinching back in surprise. "Why me?"
"I will need more blood if I use my vampire powers. Although I would avoid using them if possible, anything could happen since this is a dangerous mission. He needs an assurance that I do not starve during the mission."
"So you want me to participate as your food supplement," Vlad sighed, pressing his forehead with his palm. Seraphina did not want to put it like that, but it was the clearest conclusion. "Can’t you take my blood in packets with you?" he asked.
"Stored blood gradually loses the nutrients that vampires require to survive," she explained with a hint of frustration.
Vlad released another long, weary sigh.
"I cannot help you even if I want to," Vlad denied, explaining further, "Just to become eligible to unlock the quest system on my phone, I need to pass the first semester without backlogs."
"That’s an old rule. In a day or two, a new rule will be released changing the criteria for the quest system from passing the semester to reaching a certain grade. For knights, it will be to reach Squire grade."
Her eyes lowered, her fingers fidgeting together nervously as she murmured, "It might be my last chance to participate in an S-Ranked quest."
Vlad looked at her serene, sad face for a few seconds, weighing the decision in his mind. He parted his lips to answer, but then a system screen suddenly materialised before his eyes.
Ding...

’What the...’ Vlad gasped inwardly, reading the description of the quest with wide eyes. It was his first time hearing about the Main Quest. According to what Ren had informed him, the quests of the Legacy System would help him reach closer to his main goal. So the Main Quest might have something to do with making him stronger... or perhaps it might contain information about her, the reason he wanted to become a Legendary Knight in the first place.
"So, will you participate in the quest?" Seraphina asked softly, her pink eyes looking into his crimson ones, waiting patiently for his answer.
