Chapter 208: The South Vs The Church

Adrian and most others weren’t really surprised at the results of the fight, especially those who had been with them in the dungeon.

Although Linda had grown stronger during her time in the Corrupt Lands, she hadn’t experienced what the eight had endured within that dungeon.

So the results had been obvious from before the match started.

Lucian, meanwhile, had a small smile on his face as the preparation area’s door opened and both Noelle and Linda walked in.

The Saintess walked to stand by the prince’s side, and he said, "You did well out there."

"Thank you," Noelle muttered with a smile of her own.

Linda, on the other hand, glanced at Renelle, expecting a look of disappointment, only to find that the Ice Empress was giving her a small smile before turning back to the screen.

Renelle had finally figured out...or at least, she had an idea why Linda was suddenly trying to get closer to her.

The west might not be known for its spirit mages, despite having the most diverse spirit mages in Avera, but its intellect was not to be underestimated.

And right now, both the Grand Duke and his daughter were making a gamble based on that intellect.

A gamble that said the North was rising and the West intended to be on the right side of it before everyone else figured that out.

Renelle had no particular objection to this, and neither did her butler.

Hell, Adrian even preferred encouraging their classmate, and that small smile was one attempt at such.

Linda knew none of this; instead, she just let out a sigh and also looked at the pairings for the next fight.

"You did well," Seth suddenly spoke up.

"Yeah," She responded, "but I lost."

"If it makes you feel any better, I also lost," he said with a chuckle, "and as it turns out, it’s to a child that’s a year below you at the academy. "

Linda also chuckled at that before adding, "To be honest, even if I don’t think I can win against that first year."

"Yeah, the child is a monster," Seth nodded in agreement, "though, I guess father will be quite displeased with both our losses. "

"Perhaps," Linda muttered before turning back towards the screen, "though I doubt he’ll say much."

"Why’s that?" Seth asked, looking at his sister.

"Just as feeling," Linda said with a smile.

Seth, already used to both father and daughter hiding things from him, looked suspiciously at his sister, but ended up choosing to say nothing.

The two siblings went quiet, watching the next matchup announcement on the screen.

Before the names could even be called out, a voice was heard within the preparation area.

"Finally," Darius said as he stood up with a grin on his face, "it’s our turn to kick some ass, Bob!"

The representatives turned to him, not really surprised since he had been impatiently waiting for his own pairing to come up.

Even the crowd from the south immediately started cheering, before the herald could even announce the pairings.

"REPRESENTING THE SOUTH, LORD DARIUS LIONHEART!"

The arena seemed to rumble due to the cheering.

"AND HIS OPPONENT, REPRESENTING THE CHURCH, CYRILLUS."

The cheering didn’t drop for the Church’s representative.

The South simply didn’t care enough about the Church to reduce volume on their behalf.

Darius was already walking toward the exit without a grin on his face.

"Kick his ass, little brother," Orion said, his mana mostly recovered at this point.

"I intend to," Darius answered without even turning, his dragon sitting on his head.

"Now that I think about it?" Orion suddenly muttered as he watched his brother leave, "Why does his hair seem to get darker every day?"

The answer to that would have to wait, because his younger brother had already walked through the doors and into the arena.

The crowd’s reaction when Darius walked out was the loudest it had been all tournament.

They had already lost a match, and they were hoping that the second young master would redeem them.

"A dragon?" Was the first thing Cyrillus said the moment Darius reached the platform they were supposed to fight on?

At first, both Darius seemed to think that the Church’s representative was talking about Bob lying on his head.

But he soon realized that the dragon was invisible to everyone else right now, and that’s when his opponent confused him even more.

"No," Cyrillus muttered again, "you seem quite incomplete, so perhaps the merging is not initiated yet?"

Darius understood not a word of what his opponent was saying, so he didn’t even bother trying.

Instead, he just lit both his fists in flames and waited for the herald to announce the start of the match.

"Though, I guess this is still information that needs to be reported," that part was said loud enough for only him to hear.

Soon enough, the herald signaled for the match to start,

"BEGIN!"

The moment those words were heard, Darius made the first move.

He wasn’t Orion, patience wasn’t his style, and he saw no reason to pretend otherwise

He punched the air, even though he was quite a distance away from his opponent, but soon enough, that didn’t matter.

The flames wrapping around his fists suddenly morphed into what seemed to be flame dragons, headed directly for the Church’s representative.

Cyrillus, meanwhile, looked at the approaching dragons and the moment they reached him.

BOOM!

The dragons exploded, covering his entire form in smoke, and the South’s crowd immediately started cheering.

Meanwhile, the others were quite confused at how fast that had just ended.

Given Fidelis’ fight with Cedric, they were expecting something more, but this was quite disappointing.

Well, at least that’s what they thought until the smoke cloud cleared up, revealing a completely unharmed Cyrillus.

"I’m certain now that those are dragon flames," he said as he patted the nonexistent dust from his robes.

Darius, on the other hand, grinned as he watched his opponent come out of the attack completely unharmed.

The temperature around him started rising as his red eyes glowed before saying, "This is going to be fun."
