Chapter 207: The Saintess Vs Linda

The crowd cheered as loudly as they could, and they watched the Saintess escape the flower.

They thought that this was going to be just another one-sided match, just like Renelle’s, but they were glad it was not.

Linda clicked her tongue again as she looked at the Saintess.

Yes, she had accounted for the flower being frozen, but the problem was that she used Renelle’s ice during their spar as a reference.

Unfortunately, not even Renelle was at that level anymore.

Besides, the Renelle of that time had no reason to go all out, so it was obvious that the Saintess’s ice was her reference.

Noelle looked at her opponent for a while, noticing the spirit hanging around her and wondered, only to quickly dismiss the thought.

After all, it would be quite unfair if that worked.

Besides, she still didn’t know the side effects of using it, so for now, she’d hold off on that for now.

Linda didn’t waste time dwelling on the miscalculation. Instead, she placed her palm on the ground again, but this time, instead of vines spreading around on the arena floor, they wrapped around her.

The Saintess was quite confused after seeing her opponent form what seemed to be a cocoon of vines.

But she soon understood the reason for this.

The vines slowly took shape with Linda in their center, and soon enough, they took a shape similar to an earth golem.

Small flowers were blooming all over the vine golem, and the crowd couldn’t help but stare in surprise at Linda’s creation.

Hell, even Seth hadn’t expected his sister to become this attuned to her spirit. After all, he had always considered himself the stronger of the two.

Even Noelle was quite surprised at the construct, but she still wasn’t intimidated. She just waited for her opponent to make the first move.

And Linda did just that, the next second, she launched her vine golem forward.

It moved considerably faster than something that size had any right to be, as the vines seemed to compress and expand like some sort of muscle.

Soon enough, the golem was upon the saintess with its large vine fist swinging downwards.

BOOM!

The fist slammed into the position Noelle stood, fortunately for the Saintess, though, she managed to use the wind to move herself away from the attack.

The next second, she retaliated.

Linda was forced to lift the golem’s arm to block what seemed to be a large ice spear, boosted forward by wind.

The spear slammed into the vine golem’s hand exactly as the Saintess expected. The spear, instead of harmlessly falling to the ground or shattering, suddenly started spreading, quickly moving up the arm.

"Damn it," Linda let out as she was forced to get rid of the arm.

Fortunately, though, she could still regrow it....But Noelle wasn’t about to allow her to freely do so.

The moment the arm fell, Noelle quickly closed the distance before her opponent could redirect the golem’s remaining arm toward her.

Linda responded by sending the flowers across the golem’s surface into bloom simultaneously.

Golden pollen immediately filled the arena, forcing the saintess to quickly step back.

Left with no other choice, Noelle immediately switched her ice mana for a wind mana, and the next second, a concentrated burst of wind originated from her position.

The wind quickly dispersed the pollen cloud before it could fully settle, the golden particles scattering harmlessly across the arena floor.

But the dispersal cost her momentum.

She’d stopped moving to generate enough wind to clear the pollen cloud and Linda didn’t let this chance slip by.

The golem’s only remaining arm slammed into the Saintess, launching her towards the opposite end of the arena.

Linda quickly used that opening to regrow the golem’s arm before moving towards Noelle, who had slammed into the barrier.

But before she could reach her target, a wall of fire had suddenly risen between the two, stopping her advance completely.

Linda seemed to have forgotten that the Saintess was already Saintess because she was one loved by the spirit.

In other words, every spirit, contracted or not, was willing to lend her their abilities.

The only limitation was the fact that she could only use the elements of two spirits at a time.

And right now, she had switched out her ice element for fire.

The crowd immediately broke out in a wave of cheers. For some, this was actually their first time witnessing what the rumor of one being loved by elements meant.

"I knew this one kid, he could also use three elements," one of the survivors suddenly said, "but he wasn’t cooler than our savior though."

Fortunately for him, he added the last part; otherwise, he’d just be considered an idiot.

"Still, though," he muttered again, "do you think Lady Saintess can win? After all, her opponent seems strong."

....

It seemed he was just asking to be called an idiot, and his wish was quickly fulfilled by the survivor beside him.

"Are you an idiot?" The second survivor said, "Use your eyes and look at Lady Saintess. "

The first survivor complied, but he still failed to see the point the other was getting at.

From his perspective, it just seemed as if Lady Saintess created the wall of fire to keep the opponent away.

"You truly are an idiot," the second man said, "can’t you see that Lady Saintess is completely unharmed? Even with all her opponent’s attacks, there’s not a single scratch on her. "

"Yes, but she also hadn’t made a single match-ending move," the first survivor said in rebuttal, "while her opponent seemed to actively be trying to end this."

The second man opened his mouth to argue, but paused, looked at the arena before looking back at the man opposite him.

"...you know what, fair point," he admitted.

Because he was right.

In all the other fights, save for that butler’s, it was quickly obvious that the opponents were trying to quickly end the match.

"But that still doesn’t mean that the Saintess is weaker," the second man added, "let’s just keep watching. "

***

And he was right because soon enough, the Saintess made her move.

She suddenly launched herself forward, quickly closing the distance between them.

But Linda was prepared for this, or at least that’s what she thought when she quickly released more pollen in the air.

In response, Noelle launched a blast of wind towards her, sending the pollen flying back.

Though Linda was immune to it, the pollen blocked her vision and gave the Saintess enough time to close in on her.

Linda tried attacking, but it was already too late as Noelle’s palm had softly rested on the golem, and the next second, the entire thing caught fire.

Most eyes went wide as they saw the fire blazing whilst Linda was still in there, but the vines soon turned to ash and revealed her fate.

Turns out, she was now trapped completely in an air ball with an expression of disbelief on her face.

She looked down at her hands before turning to Noelle, who was standing in the middle of it, waiting without a bit of impatience.

After a long while of silence,

"I lost," Linda finally said.

"NOELLE WINS!"
