Chapter 874: Too Late.

The reappearance of the Slave he was most satisfied with made Loki scratch his chin and say, "Interesting. Very interesting."

Then Loki decided to change his plans as he thought, ’It seems I will use Slav to get to Time Traveler this time around. That’s only appropriate since he doesn’t have the Danger Sense Metac anymore.’

He had expected Slav to awaken the Danger Sense Metac. Since he didn’t need this Divine Metac anymore, he planned to let Slav have it. He also planned to let Slav live.

Of course, his generosity won’t be cheap. Slav will have to take him to Golden Sun and be the middleman to help him get some answers. Or to be more precise, Slav will become a bargaining chip that he will use to convince Golden Sun to work with him.

But now that Slav has awakened the Rewind Metac, he will have to change his plans and instead use Slav as a bargaining chip to get Time Traveler to work with him.

It is not much of a trouble for him. Both options are good and basically mean the same thing to him. He may not know why Slav is a vessel for both Golden Sun and Time Walker, but his ignorance of the cause won’t stop him from taking advantage of the situation.

He was thinking about his plans when he heard Slav scream inwardly, "Rewind."

Slav was currently in a cocoon made of the devouring forcefield. The forcefield wasn’t killing him, but it kept him frozen and immobile.

He knew that this arrangement wasn’t going to stop Slav, so he put a tracking mark on Slav. Then he activated the Seal Ability to deactivate the Rewind Metac in Slav. That way, Slav wouldn’t be able to use the Rewind Metac to escape from him.

Unfortunately, he was too late. Slav was able to activate the Rewind Metac before he could activate the Seal Ability.

By the time the Seal Ability was activated, there was nothing to seal. The Rewind Metac was long gone, and it had taken off with Slav’s consciousness. Even his tracking mark was gone with it.

This development made Loki scream, saying, "Damn it. I might have messed up. I should have killed him outright."

He immediately activated the Rewind Metac within Fenrir. He wanted to enter the River of Time to pursue Slav. After all, he had marked Slav.

It was a good plan, but he was a step too late in its execution. The difference between this moment and the moment in the past when Slav awakened was only a few seconds, so by the time he realized what was going on, Slav had reached the past and reset the timeline.

So he was still in the process of entering the River of Time when the world around him faded away. He also faded away with the world. Everything that just happened seemed to have been an illusion that never happened.

Only one person remembered what had happened. This person was the one who knew that it wasn’t an illusion. This was also why they felt so much despair.

When Slav reversed time and returned to the moment he awakened, it took a while for him to digest the memories of the future and recover control of his body and perception of his environment.

When he recovered, he discovered that his body was already being surrounded by a black cocoon of death. It was the same thing that he had tried to escape from in the last timeline.

Now that his effort seemed to have been for naught, he shouted with unwillingness, saying, "What is this, damn it? Why is it trapping me? I am destined for greatness. I should not be trapped by this."

His screams were absorbed by the black cocoon, so no one else heard what he was screaming about. This was the same thing that had happened when he was screaming in the previous timeline.

"I won’t accept this. I must try again."

So he activated the Rewind Metac again.

On the other side, Loki saw that Slav had awakened an interesting Divine Metac. So as to be sure, he activated the Power Identification Ability.

When he saw this, he frowned and said to himself, "Why has his maximum lifespan been reduced?"

The last time he checked Slav, the young man had awakened the Danger Sense Metac. The young man also had a lifespan of 111 Years, 1 Month, 1 Week, 1 Day, 1 Hour, 1 minute, 1 Second.

But Slav’s lifespan seemed to have been reduced by six seconds. What’s more, the young man had also awakened the Rewind Metac.

When he put these two details together, the truth slowly became exposed to him. This made him say in shock, "Could it be?"

Then he saw a tracking mark on Slav. To be specific, the tracking mark was on the Rewind Metac.

He didn’t remember putting this tracking mark on Slav. When he combined this anomaly with his suspicion that Slav had reversed time by six seconds without his knowledge, the truth was confirmed.

Without hesitation, he activated the Seal Ability on the mark. And even though he wasn’t the one who put the mark on Slav, the mark still transformed into a seal and successfully deactivated the Rewind Metac.

It was at this point that Slav thought to himself, "Rewind."

But the Rewind Metac didn’t respond. No matter how he urged the Divine Metac, it refused to activate.

So Slav screamed, saying, "What is going on? This shouldn’t be happening. I am made for greatness."

Loki heard all of his thoughts and heard his screams. When he heard Slav’s last sentence, he smirked and said, "You? Made for greatness? Not on my watch. You would have a better chance of living to a ripe old age and dying than achieving any sort of greatness."
