Chapter 873: The First Slav.

As understanding erupted in his mind, he said, "I also know that only Dao Lords can forcefully convert law fragments of other pathways into law fragments of their pathway."

"I don’t have the power to make the law fragments in spirit creatures work for me. It is either that or I don’t have the right tools for the job yet."

"Until I have the right tool or the right power, the ability to use the power of the world to enhance their power will be something that Dao Lords have over me. So I can’t hope to use the restriction of the second heaven to defeat them as I did with other divine beings."

This made him frown and say, "This will make defeating them more difficult."

But then he smiled as he said, "On the bright side, at least, there is no headache anymore either. The voice of a Dao Lord can’t break open my skull anymore. If I wanted, I could even forget their voice."

The smile on his face became wider as he said, "That is also another good thing. So it seems I am slowly and surely getting close to the power of Dao Lords. It is only a matter of time before I can contend with them on equal footing."

Finally, he reached his destination. This was the point he awakened the Fenrir and opened his energy well.

When he got here, he said to himself, "What if I want to keep going?"

"I am not reliant on Fenrir anymore. My consciousness resides in the spark of power. I have always had the spark of power. It was with me long before I awakened. So I should be able to go beyond this point and fuse with the spark of power of the past."

He was tempted by this possibility and was curious to see if he could do it. So instead of stopping at his usual limit, he decided to go one step further.

Unlike what he expected, there was no barrier stopping him. He was able to float upstream beyond his limits.

This is something Fenrir or the Rewind Metac had never been able to do. The fact that he was able to pull it off made him feel joy and ecstasy flood his mind.

He wanted to shout for joy. But all he could manage was a scream of pain.

As soon as he stepped past his limit, something was stripped away from him. He couldn’t tell what it was because his mind was clouded by pain.

He felt as if his existence was being stripped away little by little. This feeling became worse with every step that he took beyond his limit. In an instant, all the joy he felt was transformed into roaring pain.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

He was screaming in pain, but he didn’t even know he was screaming. He could hear the screams of pain, but because he didn’t know that he was screaming, he thought it was the pain screaming within him.

His situation was so bad that he wasn’t wrong about this either. The source of his pain was actually screaming within his existence. The sound was created by his existence, tearing away layer by layer.

He was like a cloth being torn apart little by little. The only thing that made the pain reduce was taking a step back. So in order to feel better, he went back the way he came.

Just as soon as the pain started, the pain ended. When the cloud of pain was lifted from his mind and he got his bearings back, he realized that he had returned to his usual limit.

"That was weird. What happened just now?"

For some reason, he couldn’t remember the pain. The pain was gone, and everything that happened beyond this limit seemed to have been an illusion.

All he remembered was that something bad had happened to him just now. Beyond that, he couldn’t tell exactly what had happened.

When he tried to focus on the memories of his recent experience, he heard a roaring sound like the sound of something screaming. He couldn’t tell what was screaming, but the sound of their screams made his consciousness shiver.

So he said, "Forget about it. It seems that going beyond my limit like this is a bad idea. I’ll try it later when I’m stronger."

He was already descending into the physical world while he was talking to convince himself not to go beyond his limit. It seemed his unconscious mind was in a rush to leave while his conscious mind was trying to give a reasonable excuse for not taking that step into the unknown.

An instant later, he appeared within his body in the awakening room. As soon as he appeared, his Divine Spark got to work rebuilding his body.

He had experienced this twice already and knew what was about to happen. He knew that he wouldn’t have enough lifespan for the job of rebuilding his body, so, before his Divine Spark could ask for more lifespan, he decided to look for more lifespan.

He activated the Devouring Ability and let it rip through Crystal City. Just like before, he killed everyone, and he didn’t destroy the building in the city or the sect grounds.

He left the buildings and the sect grounds alone in order to reduce the aggression of the sect towards him. As for Slav, he left him alive because he wanted to use him for something.

When he looked at Slav, he saw something interesting in the young man that made him raise an eyebrow in interest. In order to confirm that he wasn’t seeing things, he activated the Power Identification Ability.
