Chapter 872: Wasn’t Half Bad.

After the Dao Lords inspected everything, some of them decided to talk. They wanted to know more about what had happened, so they wanted to ask more questions.

But before they could ask any question, the world faded away. This time, they didn’t notice anything. Despite their eyes being capable of seeing nearly everything, they didn’t notice their existence and the world around them fade away layer by layer.

On the other side, Loki was rushing through the River of Time. This is something he has done many times in the past. But this will be the first time that he will be the Rewind Metac.

In the past, the Rewind Metac would carry him along the River of Time like a boat. He would be the passenger going along for the ride. Because of this, his control of the ship was always spotty.

It was difficult for him to stop the Rewind Metac. And when he managed to stop the Rewind Metac, there was always a delay. But now that he was in the boat, when to stop and how to stop is in his grasp.

"Now, where do I stop?"

After thinking about this question, he decided to avoid every kind of trouble and go to the very beginning. That way, he will have maximum freedom about what to do.

On the way to his destination, he thought about his experience in the timeline that just ended. This train of thought eventually led him to think about what had just happened with the Dao Lord of the Four Directions Sect.

As his mind churned with memories, he said, "That timeline wasn’t half bad. It wasn’t bad at all. I healed Fenrir, upgraded it to rank 9, and gained the Domination Supreme Metac."

"I lost that Death Supreme Metac, but I also gained something from that experience. I learned that it might be possible to copy a pathway. I also learned not to kill too many rank 8 cultivators of a sect, or I will draw the attention of a Dao Lord."

"There is also that thing about the third dimension. It seems Dao Lords reside in the third dimension."

At this point, his consciousness began to vibrate with excitement as he thought, "What’s in the third heaven? Why do Dao Lords stay there, not in the Sea of Worlds? Is the third heaven a part of the Sea of Worlds?"

The more questions he asked, the more excited he became. Clearly, this line of questioning was interesting to him.

The allure of knowledge about Dao Lords was tantalizing to him. He felt that anything related to Dao Lords could grant him power. Especially if every Dao Lord is in the same place doing the same thing.

As a core believer in the theory that powerful people are mostly motivated to do things when there is power to be gained from doing those things, he is willing to bet that Dao Lords are doing something to increase their power in the third dimension.

"Surely, they can’t be up there for the fun of it. It is there they went there willingly, or something forced them to go. If it is the former, which it most likely is, they went there willingly to gain more power. So if I have more time, I should go there."

Then he remembered how Dao Lords were rank 10 entities. This sullied his mood somewhat.

"To think that Dao Lords are not rank 9 beings. I’m not actually that surprised. I mean, I was sure that they were very strong. I just didn’t know exactly how strong they were."

"Now I know how strong they are. That’s a good thing. At the very least, I won’t do something as suicidal as going after a Dao Lord just yet."

This made him remember his plan to force a Dao Lord to help him. When he remembered that plan, he shook his head and chuckled as he said, "To think I planned to target a Dao Lord. What a joke."

"I’m not putting myself down, though. I’m sure that I can become an extremely powerful rank 9 being. And I am sure that not every Dao Lord is very strong. So it should be possible for me to take on a Dao Lord at some point as a rank 9 divine being."

"Of course, there is a lot I still don’t know about Dao Lords. But the attempt to fight above my level won’t be the first time I’ve done something like that."

"However, I have to admit that I don’t have what it takes to fight a Dao Lord at this point. Let me gain more understanding and more power before I make such a move."

He knew that he had been overly optimistic about his chances of fighting a Dao Lord back when he ignorantly thought that they were special rank 9 beings. But now that he knows that Dao Lords are rank 10 beings at the least, he is still not cowed and intends to fight one of them in the future if he has to.

This goal isn’t completely about pride. It is partly about pride, partly for revenge against all the injustice he had suffered at their hands, and partly because the road to greater power is usually paved with the blood of foes.

The latter has never been more accurate about him. The path he took to his current level of power was paved with the lives of countless people.

The stronger the people he killed, the stronger he became. He becomes what he eats, so if he can eat a Dao Lord, he should be able to become a Dao Lord himself.

With this in mind, he continued to review the things he had learned from his short encounter with the Dao Lord of the Four Directions Sect.

When the image of that black colossal hand flashed through his mind, and he recalled how the black hand was formed in the second heaven, he seemed to realize something that had previously eluded him.
