Chapter 203: ...great leader?

After my reply, a green wind scythe appeared in the demoness’ hands as a cold lethal gleam flashed through her eyes. The moment I saw that, my instincts told me to move or I would regret it.

And my instincts were right, her scythe appeared next to my neck in the next instant. I barely dodged it by bending so well my back was parallel to the ground.

But then a whistling wind blade conjured at her side and shit towards me so fast I had no other choice but to swap with my reflection.

Sphiiish!

The wind blade cut deeply into my reflection’s midsection, and oh was the pain soul wrenching. I instantly dispelled the reflection to banish the pain.

My second reflection shot next to the demoness’ and swung an aether enhanced kick to her head, but she had already noticed his approach and used a blast of wind to instantly push herself backwards.

I glanced behind me at the group and my reflection who were still fighting the demons. At this point only the two zeta ranked demons remained.

I looked back at the demoness, and we exchanged a glance, then she shot at me. She was fast, and when I say that, I mean incredibly fast.

But in the end, I also wasn’t slow. The demoness attacked me relentlessly, I managed to dodge most of her attacks with only minor cuts on both my reflection and myself.

I was getting getting adjusted to her fighting speed pretty quickly, I just couldn’t match her lethality. So I kicked at the ground, shattering it and sending small and big chunks of earth flying between us.

But the demoness sent the chunks away with her wind, but by then, my reflection was already above her, with his hand stretched back into a fist, prepared to crush her.

She didn’t dodge it, and instead tried to tank it, but that was a very bad idea. You see, this was the same attack I had copied from Fabian. So the moment my reflection struck down his fist on the wind barrier she had hastily conjured, the ground beneath the demoness’ legs gave out with a thundering crack as her knees crashed into the ground.

An earth shattering shockwave followed after, pulverizing the ground beneath us further. The demoness looked at me eyes widened. For just a single moment, her ability flickered, and I did not hesitate to use that opportunity.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

I strung a series of unforgiving punches across her body, two to her guts, one which she managed to block, and the final one which connected soundly to her temple.

Her head snapped to the side, as she flew sideways, collapsing and tearing deep trenches through the ground for around five meters before stopping.

The scene of her fall shocked everyone in the hall, especially her two subordinates who were still locked in combat with my reflection and the others.

That momentary shock was all I needed. My dagger instantly pierced towards the neck of the one I was fighting. However, he managed to react just as it was less than an inch from his skin.

He took a stumbling step back, but it wasn’t enough, I pushed forward, transitioning slash. The demon let out a pained shriek as the small dagger carved through his chest like tofu, making blood burst and painting my face in a bloody visage.

But it seemed the attack fueled his fury and he slashed recklessly towards my neck. Alas, his frantic attack had no chance of getting me, it was too predictable. I dove under his flaming sword, took a single sleep forward, and dragged my dagger across his neck in one smooth motion, and sent him flying with a kick to the chest.

Now only two enemies remained. The other demon bran and the others were fighting had also paid for his mistake, but he was still very much alive. I almost moved there to help them finish him too, but I refrained from doing so. I decided to let them deal with this themselves, how would they get stronger if I interfered in every battle?

On the other hand, the demoness didn’t get a moment of reprieve. My main body and my reflection had followed after her the moment she was sent crashing at the ground.

I vanished in flicker of mirages and appeared above her, with my leg kicking into her newly risen form. But I met resistance in form of another wind shield. That wasn’t to say she was spared.

Just as she turned her head to me, with furious eyes, my reflection’s kick also landed on the wind barrier shattering it to harmless fist of air, giving me another chance to punch her in the face.

Her head snapped back and her face collapsed inward with a vicious crack as her nose visibly deformed. Two streams of dark red blood flowed down her nostrils in gushing streams.

Even though I wasn’t the one being hit, I could tell that punch hurt hell of a lot. But still, I felt no sympathy whatsoever. I punched at her face again and again until she seemed barely conscious.

I then held her neck and raised her her up, however, I quickly released her and flickered backwards as violent blades of wind materialized and shredded the place I had been.

’This bitch.’ I inwardly cursed as the demoness fell back the ground. I disappeared from my spot and appeared next to her. With one final uppercut, her body flew up for a few meters before crashing on the ground, unconscious.

I used my reflection and carefully strode towards her. After confirming the demoness was truly out, I crouched down and sealed her aether. After that, I simply dispelled both my reflections and sat down beside her.

To be frank, I was truly exhausted. The last time I had to truly fight with my life on the line was against Rose. My fight against Anastasia didn’t count because I was going all out and could swap away anytime I wished. I hadn’t been willing to do that against Rose though, mainly because I wanted to crush her spirit by showing her I could win without going all out.

Anyway, the demoness had me on edge the whole time. I could tell if have to escape if I was still at the Theta rank.

For the next minute or so, I continued to watch Vera and the others go against the last demon. It seemed that seeing his leader go down had crushed his spirit, which made him make mistakes that the group didn’t hesitate to use against him.

A minute or so later, his body hit the ground.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

"Well done, my subordinates, you continue to amaze me." I clapped slowly as Bran’s crystal form dissolved to reveal his human form, and Khloe fell on her bums.

"By the god who gives me breath, I almost died." Khloe cursed as if she couldn’t believe what had just happened. Everything from the time I killed Lal to now took just a little less than three minutes.

"You!" Khloe turned to me with an accused look. "Some great prince you are, you are extremely reckless. I shouldn’t have followed you here I. the first place." She said before suddenly shaking her head.

"No, I shouldn’t have accepted your proposal in the first place. If I hadn’t, I would still be tucked quite safely in the underground market."

"Oh please, battles are thrilling." I smiled. "More thrilling than your boring life. And besides, this is only the begining, so you better brace yourselves."

Vera’s head snapped to me, her eyes glowing.

"What do you mean this is the beginning?" she asked.

I didn’t mind that she was using her ability. My grin slowly widened.

"Guess where we’ll be heading from here." I said, and before that could answer, I continued. "We’re heading to Valon, the capital of the demon domain, and the nearest city to the divine tree."

"Even the demons in this place look at us weirdly, and you want to go to where their nobles and royals are?" Khloe asked baffled. She would probably be shocked if she knew human nobles were significantly more worse than demon nobles.

"Yes." I replied with a nod of my head. "But not with this they won’t." I said as my face suddenly began morphing and two horn grew and formed a crown around my head."

"By the gods." Khloe gasped.

"I know, I look good like always." I waved my hand sounding nonchalant. "And guess what, we will be taking the long way there by foot, where you would have plenty of time training and fighting your way throughout the journey. Aren’t I a great leader?"
